Community News A Letter from your Community Manager Please do not litter on the property. Who wants to live in a trashy place? I don’t think anyone does, so we all need to do our part and pick up after ourselves.
Share Your Thoughts
If you drop something on the ground please pick it up and do not flick cigarettes out on the property. Please also make sure that any ashtrays that you do use are emptied regularly, so they do not fill up and get carried away by the wind on your balcony which creates a huge mess.
If you have anything that you would like to share, such as resident function ideas, or property thoughts, please write us a note and stick it in the envelope with your rent this month and let us hear what you’re thinking. We will definately take it into consideration.
We appreciate everyone’s help with maintaining the cleanliness of the property so that you are proud to call the Estates of Dunwoody your home!
We are always interested in hearing your thoughts and ideas on how we can make the Estates of Dunwoody a better place for you to live.
We appreciate having each of you as residents here at the Estates and hope that you enjoy living here as well.

LIGHTING OF THE FLAME
GOING OUT OF BUSINESS
NBC will be airing the live coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony.
Did you know that we have storage units on the property that you can lease on a month-to-month basis?
Have you noticed all of the businesses going OUT of business? What is even worse about that is the fact that MANY times it did not have to happen.
On February 12, 2010 the lights in Vancouver’s BC Place will grow dark and there will be the lighting of the Olympic flame. John Furlong has not revealed what will take place during the lighting ceremony but he has promised that it will “unite passionate Canadians, thrill the world’s best winter athletes and bring hope to the world over”. This is the first Indoor opening ceremony and they have kept it a well guarded secret only to be revealed on opening night.
If you would like to reorganize your apartment and get rid of some clutter, a storage unit might be just the right thing for you. If you are interested in leasing a storage unit, please give us a call at your earliest convenience and we can get one ready for you! Planning A Party? Are you planning a party soon and need a place to host it? Are you in desperate need of party planning tips? We are more than happy to help with any of your needs and the clubhouse is available to rent during the week and on weekends. For more information, please call the leasing office and feel free to speak with one of our staffmembers during regular business hours.
If a company isn’t marketing and thinking outside of the box with its customer relations and exposure, then perhaps it is unavoidable. It starts with exposure, get people talking about the services or products you offer. After all, if they do not know about you, then how do they know about you? Seems crazy simple doesn’t it? ENJOY A HEALTHY 2010 I am sure that in the new year, you are all striving to be happy and healthy in 2010. We all know that the economy has definately taken a toll on all of us in the past year, but we don’t have to let that effect the way that we take care of ourselves on a day-to-day basis, because after all, our health extremely important. I have listed 5 healthy tips for you all to take into consideration and if interested, try them for yourselves. I am sure that you will begin to feel better and have a lot more energy by simply adding or deducting a few things from your current lifestyle. 1) Get more exercise! I know that you hear this all of the time, but it really helps with your physical well being as well as your mental well being. If you don’t want to spend the money on a gym membership, start walking or running around the neighborhood. We also have some really nice parks in the area with walking and biking trails, so that you aren’t stuck in a gym and you can get out and get some fresh air. Another idea is hiking. This is a great form of exercise and burns more calories than you are probably aware of. 2) Join a free on-line weight loss program, so that you can track the foods you eat (you will be surprised at how many calories are in some of the foods that you are eating), get advice from nutrition experts and chat with local people in the Dunwoody area... One of my favorite websites is thedailyplate.com and sparkpeople.com is another great one. Glamour magazine is also currently offering a weight loss program for free on their website and it has lots of delicious recipes for you to try out on your weight loss journey. Try it out and let me know what you think! 3) Go vegetarian! I know that for some of you this is not something that you would ever want to do, and you’re probably wondering who in their right mind would want to do this, but it is an excellent way to eat healthy and lower cholesterol if you do it the correct way. Doctors and nutritionists can offer helpful advice to get you started. 4) Drink lots of water! This will help to flush out your system and will keep you feeling full throughout the day. 5) Think about getting a pet! I recently read in a magazine that pets actually help relieve stress and also keep people happy. Who doesn’t need stress relief right now? Just make sure that this is the correct decision for you, because while having a pet is great, it is also a lifetime commitment.

MOVIE REVIEW - AVATAR
GOOD OR BAD?
James Cameron’s Avatar is receiving a lot of mixed publicity lately. Everyone has an Avatar opinion or review, and everybody seems to have varying opinions. There are many people that are captivated by the story and by the director’s earth shattering special effects. On the other hand there are many critics that think that the story line isn’t as strong as it could be.
Sip Wine Tasting & Tapas Restaurant in Crabapple provides the perfect solution for those who know they want something delicious and satisfying but can’t decide on just one thing.
The story of Avatar has been compared to that of “Pocahontas,” just as the story of “Titanic” has been likened to “Romeo and Juliet.”
They had me at “Welcome to SIP”! I walked in to smiling faces and a very warm greeting by their casual yet professional staff. It was cool to be taken on a tour of their retail and dining sides of the restaurant. The place has 200 different bottles of wine to compliment the 50 they have on the menu (more on that in a minute). The highlight of the tour has got to be their über-cool wine dispensing machine!
So which is it? Is it an extraordinary movie, or is it a big joke? As with many things, it all depends on what you plan on taking from the movie. If you are looking for a good story, there is some indication that you may be disappointed. If you are looking to be transported in to another world, it appears if you will be very, very pleased.
You will love the open dining area. I was able to choose from a “sip”, half glass, full glass or bottle of wine. How perfect?!? Cornmeal Crusted Oysters with baby spinach in a bacon Vidalia vinaigrette, Pistachio crusted Scallops, Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Shrimp with peach chipotle BBQ sauce and so many more creations were prepared perfectly. Even the “fries” were amazing. Bottom line - GO NOW!
ENERGY SAVING TIPS FROM GEORGIA POWER We have been receiving calls recently from residents with concerns about their power bills and questions about the increases that they have noticed on their bills this past month. I contacted Georgia Power to get more information about the increases on the bills and they told me that this is pretty common due to the fact that we don’t typically have temperatures as low as we have been experiencing lately, which in turn means that we use more energy. The following article directly below came to me from Georgia Power. We have some energy saving tips that we suggest to customers for extreme weather. Please see below. • Thermostat settings are crucial. Georgia Power suggests the thermostat be set at 68’ in the winter and 78’ in the summer. Any variance from these suggested temperature settings can cause an increase of up to 5% more electricity usage per degree. Filters should be changed or cleaned monthly to maximize the unit’s efficiency. Dirty filters restrict airflow and reduce efficiency. • Avoid using heat-producing appliances (ovens, dishwashers, clothes washers and dryers) during the hottest part of the day. These appliances add heat and humidity to the home and are competing directly against the A/C system. • Use fans whenever possible, and install ceiling fans in rooms that are used the most. The cost is minimal and these fans help circulate the cool air, as well as provide a ‘wind chill’ type effect. •
Close draperies, blinds, or shades to reduce extra heat caused by direct sunlight.
Set the thermostat on the hot water heater to 120’.
Use cold water instead of hot water whenever possible.
Repair or replace leaking faucets immediately.
Check the home for adequate insulation.
Check doors and windows for a tight fit. Apply weather stripping or caulking if needed.
Please take all of these items into consideration and let us know if you have any maintenance issues that need to be resolved.
