WELCOME TO BEQUIA
Vincent’s lush tropical rainforest full of eco-adventures, to the idyllic beaches, coral reefs and turquoise lagoons of The Grenadines, a paradise for yachting, scuba diving, enjoying nature and relaxing in luxurious hideaways. The tropical climate peaks June and September (averaging 30°C / 86°F) but the most popular months to visit are between December and May when the climate is more comfortable and dry. Abbotts Travel have teamed up with Essential Detail and Caribtours to focus on two wonderful holiday retreats on two of the lesser-known islands: Bequia and Mustique.
A quick ferry ride from St Vincent brings you to Bequia (pronounced ‘bek-way’). This is a relaxed and friendly Caribbean island with an international flair, tailormade for sailing enthusiasts, beach lovers and honeymooners. Enjoy white sand beaches, sheltered bays, turquoise seas and a selection of lovely hotels, well appointed villas and apartments, and excellent restaurants and bars. Industry was based around boat building, which continues to this day.
Black Point Tunnel
Local artisans build everything from simple sailing vessels made from coconut husks to ornate, extremely intricate and factually accurate replicas that may take up to a year to complete. Simpler model sailing boats are also built for racing during the annual Easter Regatta when competition between rivals can be fierce, but all in great fun. Escape to Bequia, drop anchor and unwind!
