Last chance to sign up to POP-ular event!

OK folks, let’s get out in the sun (hopefully!) and the countryside and get double the feel-good factor by helping out a charity too!

rthritis Research UK will soon be holding their unique charity walk in Peterborough for the third year and ESP Magazine is backing the event. ‘Pop Around Peterborough’ is a 5 mile sponsored walk where prizes are won, taking place in aid of Arthritis Research UK. It all starts at the civilised time of 10.30am on Sunday June 29 from the Boathouse pub, Peterborough. What makes this easy going event a little different is that all walkers are given an Arthritis Research UK balloon, which they ‘POP’ once crossing the finish line, to find out if they have won a prize. Prizes that can be won on the day include a signed Warwick Davis book, great family days out, meals in local restaurants, and vouchers for local stores. Sounds good to us, plus you get some

fresh air (you could even walk the dog at the same time!) and can enjoy a pint afterwards. Plenty of people are already signed up to the walk, but the charity’s hoping for more participants to make an even bigger difference to the charity – which takes the pain away from sufferers of all forms of arthritis and helps people to remain active. Michael Clarke, who’s the event organiser and Regional Fundraising Manager for Arthritis Research UK told ESP – “There’s still time for people to sign up to this fun family event. “Arthritis affects more than 10 million people in the UK – including children! That’s around 1 in 6 people. Peterborough has a population of over 184,500 people. That means around 30,750 people in this city alone will be suffering with the condition. You can make a difference to those people by joining in.”

Entry for Pop Around Peterborough is just £5 per person which includes a fantastic goodiebag and the chance of winning many prizes worth hundreds of pounds. Simply write a cheque out to ‘Arthritis Research UK’ and send it (along with your contact details) to Michael Clarke, Regional Fundraising Manager, 55 Huntsmans Gate, South Bretton, Peterborough, PE3 9AU. Walkers will then be sent a welcome pack with full info. For more on Pop Around Peterborough or Arthritis Research UK contact Michael Clarke by emailing or call 01733 331721. Can you donate a prize? What makes Pop Around Peterborough so unique is the fact that many walkers will be heading home with a prize. Each participant is given a balloon, which they pop after the walk. Inside will be a slip of paper which tells you, “Sorry, you have not won this time” or “Congratulations you have won…” Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals, every 1 in 4 walkers went home with a prize last year. If you are able to donate a prize for this year’s walk, contact Michael Clarke by emailing or call 01733 331721. Your support is greatly appreciated.
