Elite StudyInTaiwan Program Office Who Are We? The Elite StudyInTaiwan (ESIT) Program Office is sponsored by the Ministry of Education and is located at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) in Zhongli. The Project leader is Dr. Wan-Lee Cheng, President of CYCU. The Office Director is Dr. Huang Po-Tsang, Assistant Professor of Department of Industrial and System Engineering; the Co-host is Dr. Jou Yung Tsan, from Department of Industrial and System Engineering.

What Do We Do? The 1st Taiwan‐Indonesia Higher Education Forum  

Elite StudyInTaiwan Office has brought together 80 of Taiwan's universities and colleges to form the ESIT Consortium, members of which will offer English-language master's and doctorate programs in various fields. Part of its role will be to provide a bridge between the students of Southeast Asian countries and the ESIT Consortium schools and allow more students who hope to come to Taiwan to study to learn more about Taiwan's high quality higher education system and assist the Consortium schools promote the their programs.

What Is Our Aim?

The 2011 Taiwan‐Thailand Higher Education Forum 

Our purpose is to provide necessary services for the higher education cooperation that exists between Taiwan and Southeast Asian countries as well as to create new opportunities. In order to promote higher education cooperation between Taiwan and Southeast Asian countries and further the objective of training international professionals, the Elite StudyInTaiwan office has created a program for mutual development for Southeast Asia. University Representatives from Hanoi University ,    Vietnam and Taiwan Higher Education Delegation         


Taiwan Scholarship Staring 2004, four government agencies of Taiwan: the ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), and National Science Council of the Executive Yuan (NSC), have jointly established the Taiwan Scholarship Program to encourage outstanding international students to undertake degree programs in Taiwan. A brief introduction to each of the scholarships as below:

MOE Scholarship

International Students in CYCU 

Recipients from countries other than those specified in the MOFA Scholarship. Undergraduate or postgraduate programs. Pre-degree Mandarin Language Enrichment Program (LEP) is to be included as recipients' choice for improving their language abilities. A monthly stipend of NT$25,000 (approximately US$790) for undergraduate or LEP study, and NT$30,000 for a postgraduate program.

MOFA Scholarship Recipients from countries with diplomatic relations with the R.O.C. (Taiwan), or from those specified as diplomatically favorable by MOFA. Undergraduate or postgraduate programs. Pre-degree Mandarin Language Enrichment Program (LEP) is to be included as recipients' choice for improving their language abilities. International airfare for economy-class, direct-route and roundtrip flights, plus a monthly stipend of NT$30,000 (approximately US$950).

CYCU Campus 

MOEA Scholarship Recipients from countries other than those specified in the MOFA Scholarship. Postgraduate programs, only for the areas involving scientific technology (such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, medicine and agriculture to name a few) A monthly stipend of NT$30, 000.

International Students in NSYSU 

NSC Scholarship Recipients from countries other than those specified in the MOFA Scholarship. Postgraduate programs. Amount of Scholarships :A monthly stipend of NT$30, 000. NSYSU Campus 


The Southern Sunshine Scholarship (SSS) Program The Southern Sunshine Scholarship (SSS) Program is a joint initiative by the ESIT Program Office and the participating finest universities in Taiwan. The SSS Program is specially designed for the candidates from Southeast Asia region who are interested in pursuing their advanced degrees in Taiwan. We are looking for international institutions to participate the SSS program partnership and encourage their staff/faculty members to apply for the SSS. Applicants who are not associated with higher education or research institutions may also apply for the SSS. However, we suggest that they can apply through a university partnership of SSS program for the benefit of endorsements. A brief introduction to the SSS program as below:

z The Scholarship Academic Programs: English-instructed programs of study. Scholarship offering: Financial support such as tuition waiver .Language Qualifications: Minimum TOEFL PBT 550 or equivalent, or Test of Proficiency-Huayu (TOP) Level 4 certificate .

z International Institution Partnership In 2012, 35 universities around Southeast Asia have joined SSS program partnership in order to build up a more intensive partnership with Taiwan. There are several advantages that we could provide if you join our international Institution Partnership of Southern Sunshine Scholarship Program:

z Taiwan Partnership In 2012, 31 universities in Taiwan have joined SSS program partnership to offer their high quality English-instructed programs to international students.
