THE OLYMPIC MEDALS

Countries sorted in alphabetical order

A COUNTRY'S CROWNING GLORY More than 100,000 athletes have gathered in the 27 Olympic Games. This is excluding the 1906 Intercalated Games in Athens whose medals are not officially recognised by the IOC today. Among the 200 countries that competed, only 146 have won at least one medal. Here is a break down of all the participating countries and their medals.

The pantheon of athletes with the most badges is composed of medalists who have had themselves made superior performances than some countries on the list. Phelps is going for his fourth Olympic appearance. In terms of medals, he has already surpassed Carl Lewis who had participated in four Olympic Games.
