User side User side is a aspect of how a website performs this could be various tasks which your computer completes or even the settings you use, below I will explain some of the key points when considering userside performance. Connection speed This can affect the speed of how the site loads on your machine because every page we visit has to be download the resources and it may take longer on a slower connection. Hardware can be an issue because Memory, hard drive space can cause problems when browsing the internet. For example you need space to store cookies, history, passwords, book marks and the browser itself. Malware /spyware This can affect the machine because many types of malware spyware can affect the performance of your machine and also can affect your online safety. Choice of browser can affect the compatibly of various websites or even file types for example Safari doesn’t like flash videos due to apple so this would affect your online experience while using a browser such as Internet Explorer this would be able to use flash and other supported files but there may be speed issues while using it. Viruses can affect the speed of your machine and can also cause problems with online security. Most viruses are used to gain peoples online Identifications, Passwords and could even lead up as far as fraud activities. Bandwidth can limit your browsing experience because it is the amount of information you can get all at once down your phone line and if you have limited it will take slightly longer to get the smaller pages and even longer to get the bigger Webpages that contain images, videos or music. Data cache can affect your browsing because it stores information of your browsing time such passwords and temporary files.

Server side These are the factors that affect the perfomance of the webpage that have nothing to do with the user but the more complex side of web page browsing Amount of users on at one time this can affect the server because the load maybe not capable of holding thousands of users at one time. Severs are limited to how much storage space they use which means if the files are hosted the server can be under allot of pressure if many people are using it. Hardware if the hardware is old and doesn’t contend to modern requirements this could cause 404 errors because the hard drive in the server will be used up. Many old servers have small processers, hard drives and RAM. File types and sizes can affect the server because if we have larger image files such as High definition JPEG files they will take longer to load and allot more space than a low resolution jpg file. Software on the server can cause crashing issues if an item on there is not software friendly. Software can also be buggy or weak causing hackers to get in through the buggy backdoors. Virus can also be server side issues because if there is a virus on the server side it can affect the user of the website for example there passwords can go missing or people can get their personal details due to the virus. Staffing is an issue for server side because servers need to be maintained and kept online around the clock, servers cannot matain themselves so staff are needed, if staff are ill there could be issues within the server side such as the server crashes it will need rebooting.

How to prevent hacking When browsing online it is always the top idea to make sure you have allot of protection to keep your online identity safe and personal the ways we could do that are by; Anti-virus is much needed when browsing the web, this is to stop people getting in through the back door of your computer they can do allot of very strong things to corrupt your machine or even steal your personal details to prevent this from happening you can and should use an anti-virus program in which incase of a virus the anti-virus should alert you that your machine is in danger. Strong passwords should be used has people will not be able to guess it so easily there are many password generators online to make sure you have a strong password for example Good Password: cf4TyBf5 Bad Password : 123456 The bad password wouldn’t be hard to guess and is many hackers first choice of trying when progressing to get your account. Do not input personal details to an untrusted web site if the website does not have a SSL certificate it maybe be safe or trusted by any other online user i would try and stay clear of inputting any personal details in such as: Home Address Date of Birth Secret question answer Credit card details (PayPal accounts etc.) By taking those little tips it can ensure but not 100% guarantee you a 100% positive browsing experience.

If you don’t trust it don’t use it!
