The Boulder Junction Historical Museum features displays that focus on the community’s history and heritage. Exhibits include Pioneer Corner, items from the logging era and interesting photos of years past. Admission is free, donations accepted. Located next to the Community Center. Hours: Open Memorial Day-Labor Day, Tue & Sat, 10am-2pm. (by chance the rest of the year). For special showings, contact the number above.

The Eagle River Historical Society collects, preserves and displays memorabilia of local interest. Exhibits are from the timbering days, the farming period that followed and the growth of the tourism industry in the Eagle River area. Admission by donation. Hours: Open mid-May to mid-Oct, Mon-Sat, 10am-4pm (MaySept); Mon-Sat, 11am-4pm (Oct).

Dr. Kate Newcomb Museum 715-356-6896 • 923 2nd Ave., Woodruff minocqua.org The Dr. Kate Museum highlights the extraordinary dedication of one woman to provide medical care for residents of the Northwoods and the sense of community that made such care possible. Displays on area history, Dr. Kate memorabilia, including the Million Penny Parade, and the movie of Dr. Kate on the “This is Your Life Show,” and other changing exhibits. Donations welcome. Hours: Open mid-June-Sept 1, Mon-Fri, 11am-4pm. Special hours can be arranged for groups. Call 715-356-9421 during the closed season.

George W. Brown Jr. Ojibwe Museum & Cultural Center 715-588-3333 • 603 Peace Pipe, Lac du Flambeau Come celebrate Ojibwe culture and history at this unique museum. See the four-seasons diorama, a 24-foot Ojibwe dugout canoe, smaller birch-bark canoes, examples of Ojibwe arts and crafts, traditional clothing, a French fur trading post, and a world-record sturgeon taken from one of Lac du Flambeau’s lakes. Admission fee required. Hours: Open May-Oct, Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm; Nov-Apr, Tue-Thu, 10am-4pm.
