Eric Voelker STANDARD 5. D. Student Self Assessment
STANDARD 5: Uses a variety of methods to monitor student learning. D. Guides students in goal setting and assessing their own learning. Description / Purpose of Artifact This self assessment is a series of questions student answer after taking chapter tests. The assessment gives the student a quick way to evaluate their test preparation as it relates to the section review assessments and chapter review activities they completed during the learning phase of the unit. Students assess the quality, accuracy, and completeness of their work and make conclusions as to how it could be better next time.
What I Learned / What this Artifact Shows / What Questions Remain I have learned that students are very self-critical and when given a chance will be honest in assessing themselves. This is a valuable tool for me as a teacher as the students pay closer attention to their own assessment than they do teacher assessment.
