Houston, TX – The LULAC District VIII board gathered at their quarterly meeting today and voted to support both the City of Houston (COH) bond and the METRO referendum on the upcoming November 6, 2012 ballot. The COH bond initiative will help with numerous improvements for public safety, parks and various city facilities throughout Houston neighborhoods, with much focus in the Latin community. Housing improvements included in this bond, for example, lists a commitment of $15 million to tear down blighted buildings, specifically old apartment buildings. LULAC agrees that the METRO Proposition is equally important to our community with focus on road projects and safe, affordable and reliable transportation throughout our city.

The Mission of the League of United Latin American Citizens is to advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of the Hispanic population of the United States.
