What is EYE-WiFi? EYE-WiFi is an innovative wireless lighting management technology that allows configuration and control of installations through smart devices and PCs. A lighting system with EYE-WiFi technology can include high efficiency luminaires and automatic brightness controls based on the intended use of the enlightened environment, lighting to be provided in the area of the visual field and the occupation and/or availability of natural light in a given environment. The EYE-WiFi system makes use of sensors that have a dual function, namely the detection of brightness and motion. The sensors interact with the fixtures to intelligently light an environment, saving energy and maintaining a constant level of lighting where needed; they can be installed at elevated heights of up to 11m, and are therefore compatible with industrial and commercial applications (high bay applications). With the App, EYE-WiFi allows you to manage, monitor and control many operating parameters of the fixtures, including the consumption of both the single unit and the entire system and to make clear accumulated energy savings, thanks to the potential use of the sensors or scheduling of lighting scenarios. EYE-WiFi technology enters the world of the new industrial revolution that moves forward on the internet, or industry 4.0. Production machines and systems communicate with each other and speak with the outside. EYE-WiFi LED technology is naturally integrated into this trend (more information about Industry 4.0 can be found on page 13).

How does EYE-WiFi work? Fixtures equipped with EYE-WiFi technology can communicate with each other and with the sensors without having to be physically connected. The mobile devices are connected through the EYE-WiFi Gateway, which converts WiFi signals into MiWi signals. This way, the EYE-WiFi technology can be used in all IT networks. If it is not possible to use your existing IT network, you can use the Gateway Hotspot function to create a stand-alone, independent WiFi network. EYE-WiFi allows you to set the level of light of the fixtures when they turns on (via the mains power supply) . By default, all lamps are set to “Power on Level” in MEMO mode, so when the system is switched off manually or because of a blackout, and at a later time when the mains voltage is restored, the brightness level of the fixtures will resume from the same brightness level detected a few moments before switching off. Using the App, you can change the value of the “Power on Level” (0% to 100% or MEMO), for example, if a “Power on Level” value of 50% is set, the LED fixtures, when they turn on, will all light up to 50% brightness level.

What is MiWi? MiWi is a wireless data transmission protocol based on the IEEE802.15.4 standard. MiWi is an innovative technology that consumes very little energy, is reliable and does not require maintenance. It has major advantages over WLAN or Bluetooth technologies, as EYEWiFi fixtures can create a Mesh network: a cooperative wireless telecommunication network consisting of a large number of nodes acting as receivers, transmitters and repeaters. Therefore all fixtures that communicate between each other are both transmitters and receivers.

EYE-WiFi, all in an APP You can download the EYE-WiFi App for free via the Google Play Store (Smartphone, Android Tablet) or via the Apple Store (Smartphone, Tablet with IOS). The EYE-WiFi management program is also available for the Microsoft Windows operating system.

EYE-WiFi, what can i do? Below are just a few of the features available in the EYE-WiFi APP control and manage the intelligent lighting system.

PARAMETERS FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND CONTROL OF LIGHT FIXTURES • Set the dimmer level of the lamp (0-100%) • Display the lamp’s power-on time (DD:HH) • Display the number times the lamp has been turned on during its lifetime • View the power absorbed by the Led fixture during its lifespan (KW/h) • Display the instantaneous power of a single LED fixture, the whole system, or a single area (KW/h) • Preventive maintenance

SENSOR AND GATEWAY SETTINGS • Adjust and display the brightness and motion sensor parameters • Adjust and view the Gateway Eye-WiFi parameters • Ability to signal the passage of people and means (with motion detection time) • Adjustment and network settings 4

SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS • Timer Services, based on RTC (Real Time Clock) functionality, allows you to set scenarios • Ability to configure and manage individual and group light points • Ability to create at most 16 light scenes, and at most 15 light groups

5

APP screenshots •Controls the consumption of the single Eye-WiFi LED lamp (calculated in the course of its life) •Calculation of energy saving compared with the same Fixture in on/off version (always on at 100%) •Actual lifetime of use of the fixture from the moment of installation •On/Off cycles

•Consumption control of the entire Eye-WiFi system (calculated over the course of its life) •Calculation of the energy savings compared with the same system with on/off version fixtures (always on at 100%)

•Adjusting the main parameters of the two brightness and motion sensors •Each sensor can manage a single fixture or a group of fixtures •On each sensor, it is possible to select one of the three operating modes: 1. LUX sensor (brightness only), 2. MOTION sensor (motion only) 3. BI sensor (brightness + motion)

6

•Preventive maintenance •Alarms may indicate a malfunction of the fixture (thermal failure, light source failure, etc.) •It is possible to set the brightness level (configurable from 0% to 100%) of the LEDs when they are switched on. Alternatively you can set the MEMO mode: if the system is switched off (e.g. manual or black-out, then a second time when the mains voltage is restored, the brightness level of the fixtures will come back with the same brightness level detected a few moments before switching off •Display of the main electrical parameters related to the fixture (current, voltage and power of the LED load) •Total power display absorbed by the fixture (WAC) on the electrical network

7

Set up GROUPS and SCENES On the management and control of an EYE-WiFi facility can be defined light group and set light scene. In an industrial context, regulations govern the lighting on the different environments of the working place, through the average Lux specific for the different types of activities that can be carried out. Using groups or scenes allow to increase the flexibility and easiness to manage an EYE-WiFi system.

8

A “group” in an EYE-WiFi system is understood as a logical association, of the nodes / devices belonging to the same functional zone. The fixture on the group will be always at the same bright level, as well as the command given to a group will have effect to all fixtures associated at that specific group. In the example shown, there is a subdivision into 5 groups: A, B, C, D, E. In a single EYE-WiFi network it is possible to set and change a maximum of 15 group through the APP. An EYE-WiFi fixture can be of one or more group at the same time like in the case of the group A, which is made from the mix of the fittings of the group B and the fitting of the group C. Each group coincide with a zone in that are requested specific medium lux, for example for the working area with machines, for the warehouse, for the meeting area with clients or for the area of freight exposure.

It is possible also to assign lighting sceneries called “Scene”, in each single fitting EYE-WiFi up to 16 different scenes can be stored. With the help of this option is possible to realize lighting sceneries pre-setted, on that each luminaire which belong to that scena can be set on different lighting values. On this example have been hypothesized two scene. The “Scene1” will be activated for the showroom moments in which some luminaires are set at the max power to exalt the exhibitions. Instead the “Scene2” have been hypothesized for the closing moment of the working activity, for this scena the light will be enough at the medium level for those lamps close to the showcases.

Scene 1, showroom. Total fixtures 12x 4x power 100% 8x power 50%

Scene 2, showcase. Total fixtures 8x 4x power 80% 4x power 30%

When a scene is called through the App each single fitting change in fading the own lighting level from the effective situation to the level set for the scene requested. The fading time (Fade Time) is stored for each single fitting and can change from a min of 0 to the max of 140 seconds. 9

100,000 hours guaranteed luminous flux The luminous flux of the LEDs used in an EYE-WiFi system installed in an industrial building that complies with current natural lighting standards and where luminescent sensors are used properly and in the presence of up to 100,000 hours and ensures a energy savings that can reach up to 60%. The EYE-WiFi system illustrated on pages 12-13 is a practical example of an installation made according to law; the large skylights on the ceiling of the structure allow natural light to evenly light up the entire tread surface, minimizing electricity consumption during daylight hours by detecting brightness sensors (LED fixtures will be dimmed to reduce artificial light emitted until reaching the lighting threshold set). In terms of average artificial lighting, we recommend that you follow the recommendations of the UNI 10380 standard. Each area of an industrial building requires a horizontal average lighting on the different work surface, which varies according to the activities that are carried out: •For lobby, disconnections and illumination corridors the minimum average will be 100 LUX; •For crude processing, the minimum average illumination will be 200 LUX •For processing of medium fineness, the minimum average illumination will be 300 LUX; •For fine processing, the minimum average illumination will be 500 LUX up to 1000 LUX; The existing regulations on the construction of industrial buildings require that the natural lighting surface of every single room must correspond to at least: •1/10 of the tread surface, for rooms with a surface area up to 1000sqm; •1/12 of the tread surface, for the part exceeding the first 1000sqm; •1/15 of the tread surface, for the part exceeding the 3000sqm;

Industry 4.0 The expression “Industry 4.0” is linked to the so-called “Fourth Industrial Revolution”. Due to the availability of low-cost sensors and connections, production machines and systems communicate speak with the outside. LED technology fits naturally into this trend. Switching to LED lighting by selecting reliable and dependable fixtures means saving energy and taking advantage of new technologies to have a working environment with the best conditions. The term Industry 4.0 points to an industrial automation trend that incorporates some new production technologies to improve the working conditions and increase productivity and production quality of the systems. EYE-WiFi is a technology that fits this trend perfectly and saves electricity by providing workers with the best in safety and visual comfort. Industry 4.0 encompasses the concept of the smart factory that consists of 3 parts: • Smart production: new production technologies that create collaboration between all the elements present in production or collaboration between operator, machines and tools. • Smart services: all “IT infrastructures” and techniques that allow to integrate systems; but also all the structures that allow, collaboratively, to integrate companies (supplier-customer) between them and with external structures (roads, hubs, waste management, etc.) • Smart Energy: all this always with an eye on energy consumption, creating more powerful systems and reducing energy waste.

EYE-WiFi vs DALI, EYE-WiFi vs ON/OFF EYE-WiFi is a much cheaper and more complete solution than conventional ON/OFF and DALI systems. We made a comparison between the three types of systems on a reference project of a classic industrial environment (production and warehouse). This system was divided into 3 reference areas: •AREA 1: the loading/unloading area with an occasional presence of the operators. •AREA 2: assembly stations with constant presence of operators. •AREA 3: Warehouse with average presence of operators. •AREA 4: Production Department with machinery constant presence of operators. In each area there is a sensor (brightness + motion) that drives the LED fixtures of the same group to minimize the waste of energy. The sensors are installed in both the EYE-WiFi technology and the DALI technology, thus achieving the same result in terms of saving energy. No sensor is used for the ON/OFF system, so LEDs will always operate at 100% of their power. With the EYE-WiFi system you have an annual energy saving of 40% compared to the same ON/OFF system or about 36% of the cost savings for assembly and wiring costs compared to a DALI system (you can to get up to 50% of economic savings considering possible masonry/painting costs and costs of DALI wiring equipment). Here are the indicative comparison charts that show that an EYE-WiFi system is the perfect solution to brighten your buildings in a smart way, with everything under control with through your device (smartphone/tablet/PC).

SPD (Surge Protectiv Devices) Nowadays, the increasing use of electrical and electronic equipment and the exponential increase in the level of integration of semiconductors means that more attention is paid to transient surges of atmospheric origin and surges of electric operations on the distribution system, because of the huge economic damage that it may cause. This leads to the need to take more and more safety measures within the building and system infrastructures to ensure that electrical and electronic equipment is not harmed and can offer their performance even in the presence of interference.

Optimal system The example shown shows a typical industrial system of medium size. Immediately after the central counter, the Class 1 (red lightning) protection is installed to manage the direct current of the lightning entering the system. In the general panel area, there is Level 2 protection to eliminate the lightning surges still present (see green/red lightning). In the Control Room/CED Panel Area, due to the strategic importance of instrumentation, Class 1 and Class 2 protections are repeated to prevent a lightning strike downstream of the central counter from causing damage to this area. In addition, Level 3 (lightning lightning) protectors are combined to protect them from indirect residual surges resulting from the lightning. In the subsequent three-phase and single-phase areas, Level 2 protections are repeated. In fact, it is important to understand that an installation can have cables that also extend for tens/hundreds of meters and the protections are only effective if they are within a distance of 20m. Finally, we reach the LED lamp, which already contains Level 3 protection and all the precautions for effective immunity to electromagnetic disturbances. Almost all ERAL fixtures are equipped with standard surge protection (SOVP), standard protection against surges (up to 10kV).

Flicker and Current Ripple The phenomenon of “Flickering” is back in the area of LED lighting due to the growing demand in terms of comfort and light quality. In a lamp that has low flickering values, this essentially depends on the lamp’s LED driver, the whirring and the flickering of the light detected directly by a lighting fixture is called “Flicker”.

A max. Amplitude variation

AREA 1

AREA 2 medium light output

B min. Single cycle

CURRENT RIPPLE AS A CAUSE OF LIGHT FLICKERING The phenomenon of flickering can have different causes. For Driver builders, it is the RIPPLE current that plays a decisive role. IT IS THE RESIDUAL CURRENT WHICH PASSES THROUGH A POWER SUPPLY AFTER RECTIFICATION AND FILTERING. In practice, it overlaps with continuous current and is often a swing repeated over time. These current swings that power the LED module also result in changes in luminance. The amount of flicker depends on the amount residual current, its frequency or regularity.

16

ERAL defines items with low flickering values as: “FLICKER FREE” items. The human eye perceives 80% of environmental information, included in this total is also flickering. A low level of flickering is a particularly important requirement for industrial lighting fixtures. It is proved that, while very high frequencies have no effect on the state of well-being, those below 200 Hz do have an effect. Limiting the swings below 200Hz is very important, because at low frequencies the human eye is very sensitive to changes in light intensity and it would compromise the visual comfort with all the problems that result from it: attention problems, mood alteration, loss of work efficiency or physiological problems like headaches.

EYE-WiFi, easy to install The EYE-WiFi network is easy to install and implement. Once an EYE-WiFi fixture is connected to the mains supply this will be detected by the EYE-WiFi Gateway and displayed via EYE-WiFi APP. Network Extension: You can add an EYE-WiFi fixture at any time and easily to a pre-existing network. Versatility: You can change the configuration of your fixtures and groups simply by switching to the APP with a click.

Modes of use OPTION 1: HOTSPOT MODE (WITHOUT ROUTER). For independent systems independent of the LAN network. WiFi connection of the smart device (smartphone, tablet or PC) to the EYE-WiFi Gateway. Access to data via WiFi: see rear of the EYE-WiFi Gateway. It is possible to connect at most two smart devices simultaneously. Up to 77 fixtures can be connected via Gateway EYE-WiFi

Network security protocols WiFi network: Nowadays, increasing the security of a given wireless network has become a necessary operation. Protecting your wireless connection from potential malicious people prevents possible privacy issues. A series of simple tips to help you immediately increase the security of a WiFi network simply consist of enabling or disabling some of the special features already present in the modem router. With a few simple steps, you can improve your level of security, such as by using more complex SSID names and passwords, enabling the built-in firewall in the router, always installing the latest security updates available on all devices, and always choosing the maximum protection allowed from the router to all the different devices. To date, the safest protections are WPA-PSK, or even better, WPA2-PSK with TKIP or AES encryption. Our devices are equipped with all the most advanced security protocols, just take care of the aforementioned tips:

GATEWAY EYE-WiFi Supports the following protocols: ACCES POINT MODE • WPA 2 (default) MODALITÀ STATION • WEP • WPA • WPA 2-Personal & Enterprise

LINKSYS WRT1900ACS Supports the following protocols: • WEP • WPA • WPA 2 (default)

MiWi network: MiWi is ideal for applications that need long-range coverage as it provides greater network flexibility with mesh network topology, which routes packets from the terminal nodes to the gateway via the shortest route available. Security MiWi protocol uses the MAC security definition defined in the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. To ensure the integrity of the frames and to properly encrypt the payload in the MiWi protocol, the following is used as the security mode: AES-CCM32 (Advanced Encryption Standard) - Counter with CBC-MAC (Cipher Block Chaining Message Authentication Code).

35

WiFi and MiWi signal coverage SIGNAL COVERAGE Providing accurate indications on the coverage ranges of the WiFi signal and MiWi signal is not possible, as these vary depending on the location where the EYE-WiFi devices are installed, below are the main variants that may affect the coverage radius of a network: • Indoor or outdoor installation environment (office, warehouse, barn, car park, etc.) • Open field or close to buildings It is also necessary to consider the following environmental factors, which can strongly restrict the ranges: • Losses in free space • Reflection, diffraction, refraction and absorption • Type of soil and/or material with which the walls/floors/ceilings are made • Environment, whether urban or rural, type of vegetation • Average propagation (dry or humid air) • Height and position of the antenna, power of the radio module (dBm) If you do not have WiFi coverage at the installation site, we suggest generating the signal with the help of a Router (99473) and its Access Point (Extender), the following are the two main cases:

OPTION 1: small surface (indoor, hotspot mode) Gateway (99369)

Bi-Sensor

Luminaires

OPTION 2: extremely wide surface spread across multiple floors (indoor/outdoor, client mode) Router WiFi (99473)

AREAS 2, 3 and 4 respectively have 51 EYE-WiFi Lamps controlled by 1 Gateway EYE-WiFi for each of these areas. In AREA 3, the presence of an EYE-WiFi Bi-Sensor sensor located in the setup window is within the total EYE-WiFi fixtures controlled by that Gateway EYE-WiFi for that area, so in total there are 52 EYE-WiFi fixtures monitored. In AREA 5, the Gateway EYE-WiFi controls 60 EYE-WiFi Lamps and an EYE-WiFi Bi-Sensor positioned close to the outside opening. The WiFi router generates the WiFi signal, the two WiFi range extenders connected to the router extend the signal across the area. A management system that leverages daylight and that signals presence with appropriate sensors further increases the economic saving.

EYE-WiFi BI-Sensor LUX + MOTION EYE-WiFi BI-SENSOR is a wireless multifunction sensor equipped with a motion and brightness detection device, ideal for maximum energy savings (up to 60%). The two sensors can be switched off and adjusted individually, thus obtaining three different modes (LUXsensor, MOTION-sensor and BI-sensor). The EYE-WiFi sensor detects light intensity, motion of vehicles, people, and sends information on the 2.4GHz wireless network of EYE-WiFi devices. It can be installed at elevated heights up to 11m, and is, therefore, compatible with industrial and commercial applications (high bay applications).

The sensor coupled to the Gateway and wireless drivers (incorporated into EYE-WiFi fixtures) allows the management of all EYE-WiFi fixtures in the system through the EYE-Wifi App. The sensor must be powered by the mains voltage and not require any other connecting cables to the rest of the system. The sensor set in MOTION-Sensor mode (Presence detector only), in the absence of motion, keeps its light level at a preset value (Absence Light Value) that can be set by EYE-Wifi App. When a motion is detected, the sensor is activated by instantly bringing the light level to the maximum level (Presence Light Value). The sensor maintains the highest level throughout the “Presence Time Value” time (this value is reset at each new motion detected). Once the “Presence Light Value” limit has been reached, the sensor returns the brightness to the minimum “Absence Light Value” preset at a time equal to “Fade Time Off”. All these parameters can be adjusted in the EYE-Wifi App.

38

LUX-SENSOR MODE The sensor in LUX-Sensor mode (brightness sensor only) is able to detect the total of natural and artificial light (emitted by the lighting fixtures). Through the brightness sensor, it is possible to keep the Lux level (Lux Target Value) constant on the surface below the sensor as the natural light contribution changes. For a constant brightness level control on the work surface, the sensors must be positioned on the ceiling to read the total of the contribution of artificial and natural light reflecting from the surface below. It is convenient to install a brightness sensor for each area, where the natural light contribution is important and even. The EYE-WiFi sensor must be installed in a barycentric position with respect to the illuminated area, as it must be influenced by both natural and artificial light.

Both sensors (motion + brightness) are used in BI sensor mode. In the absence of motion, the fixtures associated with the sensor are set to the “Absence Light Value” value (user-selectable value via the EYE-Wifi App). When motion is detected, the sensor evaluates the ambient brightness and adjusts the power of the LED fixtures to adjust their brightness level (artificial light) inversely proportional to the natural light present in the environment. Once the “Presence Time Value” limit has been reached, the sensor returns the brightness to the “Absence Light Value” at a time equal to “Fade Time OFF”.

EYE-Wifi App lets you display in real-time or record and display the operation of the system and the individual fixtures at a later time. For example, you can see the ambient brightness detected by the sensors, the power supplied by the individual units or the whole system, the dimming level of the fixtures, and the temperature of each individual fixture. The detection time range is adjustable from 15 seconds to 30 minutes. That way, we have everything under control. The sample chart on this page refers to the system described in the pages above, and shows the dimming of the fixtures in relation to the detection of ambient light. As you can notice during the sunniest daytime hours, you get a remarkable energy saving as the LED fixtures are dimmed to a minimum. The average energy saving on this working day is about 40% compared to a classic ON/OFF system.

WARNING: Detection was carried out during a very sunny summer day, if it clouds over, there would be a decrease in natural light (detected by the sensor) with the EYE-WiFi system ready to respond, which would then GRADUALLY increase the power of the fixtures until they reach the desired average brightness threshold (LUX TARGET - can be set up via the APP). Therefore there are no sudden changes in dimming of the brightness intensity, even if there were significant changes of the Lux detected due to a thunderstorm or the presence of clouds. The interaction between the Lux level set and detected by the sensors is coordinated by the Eye-WiFi system and is not remotely picked up by the eyes of the operating personnel in that environment at the time.

“Smart City” & LIVING IN A BETTER CONTEXT The definition of “Smart City” in city planning is the set of planning strategies aimed at optimizing and innovating public services: a city that uses technology to provide public services in an innovative way for the benefit of citizens. Many countries are experimenting with new lighting systems, especially to minimize budgetary costs. Today, light accounts for 20% of global energy consumption, and today’s urban lighting system is inefficient in 75% of cases. Cities need lighting solutions that go beyond traditional light sources: high-quality LED systems that allow easy control of lighting effects and drastically reduce energy consumption and maintenance. The new Eral EYE-WiFi LED lampposts fit perfectly in this context.

42

THE FUTURE TO EXALT THE PAST The attention that public administrations turn to the lighting of their historical centers is increasing. With the advent of LEDs, an important step forward has been made in terms of energy savings, the reduction of maintenance costs, and a minor impact on the environment. LED lighting is a technology that has given a new image to our cities, however, despite having different color temperatures in a historical center, it is not always possible to maintain the warmth and magic that are characteristic of the oldest parts of our city realities. In fact, with the classic LED technology, even if using a color temperature of 3000K (called White White) you can not recreate the atmosphere that occurred using a traditional light such as low pressure sodium, because, this last light source oscillates from a minimum of 1800K to a maximum of 2500 K but with very low color rendering values <50. In this sense, ERAL wanted to expand its range of solutions by giving the possibility to maintain the bright aspect that characterizes a city of art without renouncing the realization of a relamping project using innovative LED technologies. ERAL, in its head poles integrates an LED with 2200K color temperatures called “Ancient White, which offer a visual perception of the environment similar to the perception given by traditional sodium vapor sources but with all the advantages and great potential of the LEDs, such as: high color rendering >80, high energy efficiency, long life span and superior quality of perceived light.

Ancient White 2200K

The Eral EYE-WiFi head poles with LED Ancient White are therefore the ideal solution for the lighting of all historic centers.
