STAR Network NCC NETWORK CONTROL COMPUTER

The STAR Network NCC allows utilities to better manage information about customer accounts, meter transmitters, and data collectors. What’s more, it makes it easyto transfer gas, water, and electric meter data to billing, customer service, accounting, and other utility applications. The STAR Network NCC delivers The NCC database stores meter readings from the system data collectors. The data is displayed through a series of five tabs, creating a simple roadmap through the software and providing a variety of search and reporting options.

STAR® Network NCC

As the system’s central computer system, the network control computer (NCC) collects, validates, processes, stores, and regularly transmits meter readings gathered from the system’s meter transmission units (MTUs) and data collector units (DCUs) over FCClicensed, 450- to 470-MHz radio frequencies. The NCC provides billing, customer service, accounting, and other utility departments with access to valuable account information.

3000 Series

3300 Water MTU METER TRANSMISSION UNIT

Delivers two-way communication and a time-synchronized network to provide a utility with a snapshot of system water consumption at a single point in time. The 3300 water MTU uses the powerful STAR Network RF technology to transmit hourly, interval usage data, and two-way communication to the utility. The MTU supports up to 8-digit registers and delivers time-stamped reads on a timesynchronized network, allowing for advanced water distribution management.

Time Synchronization The 3300 water MTU features time synchronization to ensure that all system clocks are set to the same time. This allows a utility to take a complete system read and use the data to reconcile the amount of water entering the system to the billable water that is consumed, thus identifying the probability of system leaks.

CORRELATED ACOUSTIC LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM

Find and fix leaks fast with the Aclara STAR ZoneScan leak-detection system. The industry’s only remotely correlated acoustic leak-detection system cost-effectively identifies small leaks before they become major problems. The system combines acoustic data loggers from Gutermann International with Aclara STAR Network technology to provide fully integrated leak detection through fixed-network advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). Time-synchronized sound recordings are initiated through the STAR ZoneScan meter transmission unit (MTU), which sends the resulting data back through fixed-network infrastructure to the utility for presentation. Web-based application software correlates the data between loggers and provides visual identification of high probability leak locations.

The Series 3000 and Series 4000 MTUs introduce two-way communication to the Aclara STAR Networks for gas and water utilities. This creates a new level of data and support we can provide our customers. While two-way communication and its features are generally understood for most electric networks… all utilities are not created alike. This is our current series of water and gas MTUs. All legacy MTU styles and part numbers (501-8150 and 501-7712) will remain the same.

This series provides basic twoway communication to the MTU. Primarily used for system time synchronization, the two-way communciation will ensure that all units on the network are time set within 30 seconds of each other. This series provides on-demand, two-way communication. The utility can request and receive an immediate read from the MTU. Series 4000 water and gas MTUs are planned for release in FY11 Q2.
