EUROPEAN/MIDDLE EASTERN ROAD TO THE KENTUCKY DERBY
HORSEMEN INFORMATION
The Road to the Kentucky Derby is a series of some of the world’s best races in which horses compete to earn points to qualify for one of the coveted 20 starting spots in the Kentucky Derby. In each designated Road to the Kentucky Derby race, points are awarded to the top five finishers and a leaderboard is established reflecting the points earned by each horse.
The European/Middle Eastern Road is comprised of ten total races, six held in Europe and four held in the Middle East. Horses earn qualifying points in each of these races, with invitations to the Kentucky Derby extended to the top two leading point earners after the conclusion of the UAE Derby (GII). Invitations will be extended to the top two leading point earners after the conclusion of the UAE Derby. Should connections of either of the top two finishers decline to participate, Churchill Downs reserves the right to extend invitations to the third and fourth place finishers to compete in the Derby.
