Quarterly Release

FIND US IN HALL 4, AIDN8

Welcome to our third newsletter for 2019. You may have noticed that the design of this edition of the newsletter is a little different – this quarter we are focusing solely on the Marine side of the business to celebrate Pacific 2019 happening next month. I am excited to announce that Eptec Marine is exhibiting at the Pacific Expo 2019 under Australian Industry Defence Network – and will be located in Hall 4, at AIDN8.

MD Message

For those attending Pacific 2019, there will be familiar Eptec faces from around Australia at the expo. Several key personnel from our marine sites and members of our management team will also be in attendance. We are all committed to supporting the Australian Defence Industry, and I look forward to personally meeting many of you there. In internal Eptec news, September marks 22 years of Eptec. Well done team - congratulations to all our

past & present team members, and thank you for your contribution. Let’s never forget the foresight of Dr. Enrico Piccioli and Claudio Di Berardino who brought us all together, mentored us, and kept us together as a team. The last 12 months have been our strongest ever in both the Marine and Services sectors, and I would like to personally thank all our clients, suppliers and employees who have supported Eptec along the way. As with all business growth, Eptec has also ramped up on the recruitment side of the business. I’d like to take this chance to extend a warm welcome all the new-comers who have joined us on this exciting chapter. I am also excited to announce the official launch of our Take 5+ Program in October. This program is focused on increasing safety, open communication

and teamwork across all areas of our work. To sum up, I’d like to thank you for supporting Eptec over the last 22 years, and I look forward to celebrating many more milestones with you all.

marine UPDATE

In WA the team has been successful in delivering outstanding work between Garden Island WA, on HMAS SIRIUS, and BAE Shipyard, on HMAS ANZAC AMCAP, and various other commercial vessels. A special note to both the ASC North Team that worked on HMAS WALLER Full Cycle Docking for successfully meeting all milestones, on a very challenging schedule, and also to the ASC South Team for their outstanding work on completing the colour change and Under Water Hull work on NUSHIP Sydney.

Last financial year has been Eptec Marine’s best year to-date. All divisions, East, SA and West, have delivered an extraordinary number of complex projects, on time and on budget, and most importantly, safely. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the hardworking teams for another year of being LTI free. This is a huge achievement as it celebrates Eptec Marine being 2.5 years LTI free.

The team in the East had a very busy year, between RAN Ships, such as HMAS ADELAIDE and CANBERRA, HMAS CHOULES, HMAS HOBART, Commercial ships, Spirit of Tasmania and MV Kaitaki. I am extremely proud of the hard work, effort, efficiency and professionalism that each and every one of you have displayed. It is a true reflection of everything that Eptec stands for. I would like to offer a very big thank you to you all for this massive team effort.

Joining us today we have... Jordan May NAVAL DEFENCE & MARINE

Hi Jordan, can you tell us a little about yourself and your role with Eptec? I worked on the Collins Class Submarine maintenance projects with a Marine Surveying company for 5 years, before seizing the opportunity to join Eptec in June 2016 as a Project Engineer. I continued to work solely at ASC North on HMAS Collins’ Full Cycle Docking (FCD) with an amazing team of people and we were able to successfully complete Eptec’s first submarine blast and paint project on time and on budget. I believe my years of submarine maintenance experience were incredibly beneficial in helping the team establish and deliver a successful FCD project. I was half way through Eptec’s second FCD project, on HMAS Waller, when I transitioned to ASC South to lead the OPV & AWD works as Project Manager. I am extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to contribute to the success and growth of the company, and look forward to what the future holds for us. ect Manager

Jordan May, Proj

Jordan lives with his partner, Tayla, and 2 dogs in the western suburbs of Adelaide. He has a passion for motorbikes, downhill mountain biking, and any sport that involves a board, particularly wakeboarding. As a result you can always find him down by the river throughout summer. On the weekends he’s generally working on the house, or out socialising in the sunshine with mates.

Why did you choose to work with Eptec? Eptec had just been awarded the FCD B&P contract over a long-term and established competitor, and began the installation of much larger and more complex encapsulations than anything I had seen on site previously. I admired the professionalism and advanced progression of the company, and felt it was a company that I wanted to be part of. How has your role evolved since you started? I started out as a Project Engineer at ASC North, working closely with Production Manager Bruno Dumont. I think learning directly from someone who has been around since the initial development of the company was instrumental for my professional development as it gave me the opportunity to gain an in depth understanding of, not only the company,

but how I could be of most value to the projects at hand. My work at ASC North definitely shaped a good foundation of knowledge and experience, which I’ve since been able to apply to my new role as Project Manager, and I’m keen to continue to grow with the company as we take on exciting new prospects. What do you enjoy most about your work? I love the responsibility and challenges involved in overseeing projects and maintaining a highly efficient workplace. It certainly keeps me on my toes day to day and is a really great environment for encouraging ongoing personal and professional evolution. What has been your biggest challenge in your current role? Currently, as a team at ASC South, we are managing three independent and very different projects, each with a diverse set of challenges. Making sure I am permanently across all aspects of each project is proving a demanding challenge, but I am lucky to work with a team of such proficient and supportive people who are committed to achieving a successful project delivery. What has been your biggest achievement since working with Eptec? My biggest achievement so far working with Eptec is the successful project delivery of HMAS Collins’ FCD. It was the biggest project I had ever been involved in, with an incredible amount of moving parts and I believe it was

instrumental in cementing Eptec Marines’ future in South Australia. In your eyes, what seems to be on the cards for Eptec in the next 6 months? Huge things are on the cards for Eptec, especially in South Australia. We have secured our position in the sector at the exact right time in SA, right before the industry booms with the Hunter Class Frigate and Future Submarine Projects reaching full stride. Eptec is comfortably completing Collins Class FCD’s, wrapping up the NUSHIP Sydney AWD Project, ramping up for works on the upcoming Offshore Patrol Vessel Project and has recently been awarded work at the Australian Naval Infrastructure Shipyard Upgrade in Osborne which is being developed in preparation for the Hunter Class Frigate Project.

Finally, what is one piece of advice you would give to someone new joining Eptec? Be a sponge! At Eptec, we are surrounded by so many amazing people with decades of experience in the industry who have a strong passion for blast and paint. Exploit the opportunity to draw from the wealth of knowledge and expertise of the people around you, and put what you learn into practice. Follow Eptec on:
