s g n i t e e r G s ’ n o s a e S 2019 End of year Edition
Welcome to the December newsletter – the very last one of 2019. As we wind down for the year, I’d like to reflect on Eptec’s journey. 2019 has been a year of continual growth – and we have seen this in both our Services and Marine Sector.
MD Message
Project wise on the Services side of the business, we have successfully completed a range of railway station projects for Sydney Trains, we have continued our contract with Sydney Water on our Vent Stacks jobs, we are in the midst of one of the largest linings & waterproofing projects in New South Wales, and we have finally also finished Stage 1 of the Peats Ferry Bridge in the Central Coast. Project wise on the Marine side of the business, we have successfully reached all major milestones for the Full Cycle Docking of the HMAS Waller for ASC, we have had a continual stream of vessels docked for work in the Garden Island Graving Dock in Sydney, we have continued our ANZAC Class Frigate work in Western Australia, and we’ve also exhibited
at Pacific 2019 at the ICC in Sydney. I am also very pleased to announce that the Take 5+ Program has officially been rolled out across all work sites across Australia, and you can read more about this to the right. It has been a busy year nationwide, and this is a credit to the entire Eptec team for their hard work and commitment. I would like to thank all our employees, Clients and Suppliers - cheers to another great year in 2020! Lastly, I’d like to wish you all a safe and joyful holiday. May you all have an enjoyable break, and return with renewed enthusiasm for another successful year ahead!

WHEN RISK MATTERS
Eptec’s Take 5+ Program Launch Rollout Eptec has made significant achievements within our HSSEQ department over the last few years, but we always aim to improve further. As a result, Eptec created the new Take 5+ Program, and have now launched it nation wide across all Divisions. The Take 5+ is the new Eptec HSSEQ Program where Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality is the primary focus. As can be seen from the diagram, the program comprises of 5 key elements: 1. Visible Leadership; 2. Learning & Competency; 3. Communication and Reporting; 4. Reward & Recognition; and 5. Commitment and Accountability. The roll-out of the program commenced in Western Australia and South Australia, where a number of Clients joined us. With their constructive inputs, we made further adjustments before rolling out the program across various sites in New South Wales. Each roll-out was undertaken by the CEO and Eptec Senior Management to explain the program in person to all our crew, staff, and Clients in person. This program introduces many of new initiatives, and it is designed to get everyone on board and pointed in the same direction. We are enthusiastic about this new program, and look forward to our new journey.

Indigenous Cultural Awareness Day As part of Eptec’s commitment to maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace, we have partnered with Nanyabura to assist with the recruitment and ongoing mentoring of Indigenous employees in the workplace. One initiative of this new partnership, is our recent Cultural Awareness Day - a specialist cultural awareness training session with Indigenous group Mirri Mirri. We had the knowledgeable Paul Sinclair join us for an afternoon of tackling perceptions and filling in our knowledge
gap. It was a very well received session; shedding light on first recognising how Aboriginal social structure, kinship, land, and technology affect those Indigenous individuals from a workplace perspective. We also explored current initiatives and strategies on how to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people within our current company programs and policies. The Indigenous Cultural Awareness Day was a huge success! A huge thank you to Paul Sinclair for his time and expertise.
