MEMBERSHIP GUIDE – A happy chapter is a healthy chapter! Has your chapter committed to utilize the Chapter Membership Guide this Fall? The chapter guide is a comprehensive look at how your chapter is functioning, and what you can do to have more fun! The first step is completing the survey that accompanies the chapter guide. This survey will let the members share how they feel about all aspects of the chapter – social time, educationals, the events you participate in, and the projects you support. This is a great way to find out what the members in your chapter LOVE and discover ways to do more of that. Get started today! You can find the survey and the chapter guide at

TALK TO A COLLEGE STUDENT OVER THE HOLIDAYS ESA needs YOU! When our collegiate program was expanding quickly in the 80s and 90s, it was based on recommendations to students that came from community ESA members. Let’s do it again! Beginning with the Thanksgiving break, high school seniors and college students will be spending time with family for the holidays, which is a perfect opportunity to talk to them about ESA. 1. 2. 3.

As a chapter, brainstorm students you know like your dog walker, children of friends, or people you know who work with students like teachers and counselors. Take your laptop to an upcoming chapter meeting and share what ESA has to offer students: Use the /Recommend form on the website for help from ESA HQ to contact your student Phone or email: 970.223.2824 Via the Website:

MEMBERSHIP HOSTS MAKE EVENTS MORE SUCCESSFUL ESA events are fun and busy – every member has a job, and the membership host is one of the most important. A membership host is a chapter member assigned to the specific job of working the crowd, welcoming guests, and chatting up ESA with event participants. Because this member has no other job at the event, you’ve insured that whenever someone wants to learn more about who we are and what we do that we’re equipped, available, and excited to chat. Take it a step further and make your membership host easily identifiable with our famous “ESA Volunteer” aprons. Find tips and tools for successfully utilizing a membership host in your chapter and purchase your “ESA Volunteer” apron at

It’s a seasonal favorite and easy way to get everyone into the holiday spirit. This is fun for existing members and guests from all parts of your life (your work, neighborhood, salon, etc.), and something that works for daytime or evening. Challenge yourselves to have as many guests as members in attendance and welcome some new faces and fresh ideas into your chapter for 2020. If you’re doing ornaments, try adding a few St. Jude ornaments as door prizes (available through St. Jude, They’re a perfect conversation starter about one of your favorite projects so you can get guests excited about St. Jude activities and joining the fun as members. ST. JUDE CASH EVENTS Remember the last time your chapter hosted a cash event that benefited St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital? This year we are raising the bar in an effort to increase cash donations as we near our $300 million lifetime donation to St. Jude. Need help with publicity for your event?
