Easter. For us Christians it is the most important date on our calendar. But in comparison to Christmas it can sometimes takes a back seat. This year we want to make sure we are doing all we can to put on the best Easter event yet. Easter is a time of true celebration of the new life we have in Jesus. Is there a better time to invite friends and family to church than Easter? Lets make it a huge party. God knows how to throw great parties therefore we should too! We will have a 4pm service on Easter Sunday then a special Easter Dinner following. Invite cards will be available for you to give out in the coming weeks & Jenny Murtagh will be in contact regarding food!

A member of a certain church, who previously had been attending services regularly, stopped going. After a few weeks, the pastor decided to visit him. It was a chilly evening. The pastor found the man at home alone, sitting before a blazing fire. Guessing the reason for his pastors visit, the man welcomed him, led him to a comfortable chair near the fireplace and waited. The pastor made himself at home but said nothing. In the grave silence, he contemplated the dance of the flames around the burning logs. After some minutes, the pastor took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all alone. Then he sat back in his chair, still silent. The host watched all this in quiet contemplation. As the one lone ember's flame flickered and diminished, there was a momentary glow and then its fire was no more. Soon it was cold and dead. Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. The Pastor glanced at his watch and realized it was time to leave. He slowly stood up, picked up the cold, dead ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately it began to glow, once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around it. As the pastor reached the door to leave, his host said with a tear running down his cheek, "Thank you so much for your visit and especially for the fiery sermon. I shall be back in church next Sunday."

… Hi church! The Jesus series continues. It is wonderful to hear so many positive reports on what people are learning & experiencing. Each year @ Christmas (I know it’s Easter), I draw up a treasure map, mark the X, burn the edges, stain it with coffee and scrunch it up so that it feels and looks a bit older and roll it up like a scroll (This is now tradition in the Warren home). I then bury or hide a treasure for my kids and give them the map. I love the look on their faces as the hunt begins, as they try and work out the clues, discussing what it could mean and then taking action. They pursue until they eventually scream with delight at finding their treasure. Psalm 119:162 says, “I rejoice in your word as one who has found great treasure.” So many people tell me that they find it hard to “get into God’s word”. I would like to encourage you to change your thinking. Just like my kids with their treasure hunt…if you choose to hunt, search, pursue, or dig into the Bible you will find your heart rejoicing. Why? Because it is not just a book; it lives! You will find treasure if you look for it…answers to questions, stories that build faith, principles that build your character, encouragement in struggles, unfailing love and devotion of God directly to you…and so much more. Highlight the verse or two when God speaks to you. Memorise it, repeat it to everyone, share it and it will live in you. This simple process will renew your mind and bring greater transformation to your life, and I know that as we do this together, we will all become more like Jesus and His church will be empowered to accomplish it’s purpose and vision. Thanks for the journey Epicentre…you guys are amazing, Pastor Damien Warren
ABOVE: Pastor Damien is pumped for Easter! (please note: drawing is not to scale) We heard recently about some people who had come along to church and although they felt welcomed the first few times, they then decided they didn’t really “connect” with anyone.. Our Sunday services are an awesome place to corporately praise, worship and honour God. We experience great teaching and preaching, can encourage one another, our kids can enjoy the fantastic Kids’ Ministry, etc. Our Sunday services are also a place to start the initial links with others. They are not, however, the best (only) way of building relationships with God’s people – that’s where Links come in! (Imagine if you were just married and you only got to spend time with your new spouse for a couple of hours on a Sunday?!). We all know that every relationship in order to grow needs to have time and effort invested in it. Ps Damien spoke on 20th March, 2011 during the Jesus series about the need for each of us to continue to connect with God – how do we do that? Pray! Our relationships with one another can also be enhanced as we connect through Links. Some of our Links are for specific ages or gender, but there is definitely a welcome mat for anyone who would like to be involved in a Link. Links are about doing life together - showing God’s love in our homes, our communities, workplaces, churches… getting out of our comfort zone to help others in need every day and on purpose! Our Men’s Link is currently studying Mars Hill Church’s Ruth series (and you’d be surprised how many key messages about relationships, applicable to singles and marrieds, are talked about by Ps Mark Driscoll). Two of our Ladies’ Links are just starting Joyce Meyer’s “Love Revolution” series. Arena Links are going off – with over 50 participants at the last Link night! Not to mention all the other Links (you may even read about them on Facebook). If you’re not yet connected or feel God drawing you into leading your own Link, please contact Pastors Paul & Kerry Parry (firstname.lastname@example.org). "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves." - Romans 12:9,10 (NIV) SPECIAL DATE: Monday, 11th April, 2011, 7.30pm at Parry’s, 10 Westin Place, Echuca Link Leaders (& potential Link Leaders) Training Night.

This year we are believing God to do something huge through our annual miracle offering! Our miracle offering will be going towards our new facility as we build the Kingdom of God here in Echuca. As individuals and families that make up our church, lets start to prayerfully consider what we will contribute. And then lets put our plans into action so that by July we’re all ready to see God do a miracle, not only in the life of our church, but our lives as well! Wouldn’t it be amazing if by July we had our own facility? Please continue to pray for our future church facility!
