Summer Sizzle Summary by Ginna Lister

Last week at SOAR Day Camp, one of the campers said this prayer: “Thank you for this camp and thank you for this church where we get to do so many fun activities. The summer does lend itself to some super fun activities through our Summer Sizzle program. There have been activities for all ages all summer long. It is my hope that along the way, the children also learned that they are a beloved child of God, that they have a place to be and belong at EPC and that they have a church family that loves and cares for them. Here is a glimpse of some of the fun times we have had this summer.

Preschool Water Day

Crusader Basketball Camp led by NGU Head Coach, Chad Lister and his players.

VBS participants learn about God’s love through a “Surf ’s Up” theme.

Sprout Day Camp “Around the World in 4 Days”

Campers learn about the missionaries EPC supports around the world.

“Thank you for planning an awesome week. My son had the best time! ~SOAR Day Camper Mom

SOAR Day Campers delivered cookies they decorated to the local police department. Pictured below, SOAR Day Camp Lemonade Stands raised $176 for SHINE and $146 for Pickens County Humane Society.

EPCMiddle Mission Trip by Thomas Clanton

Easley Presbyterian Middle School Youth spent the week of August 1-5 serving the city of Asheville through the ministry of Asheville Youth Missions. 16 youth and their chaperones slept on floors at First Presbyterian Church of Asheville. They were joined by Fairmont Presbyterian Church from Cleveland Heights, Ohio. These two groups spent the week serving at a variety of urban ministry sites. These sites included Kairos West Community Center where our youth held a free food market open to the community. The market provided fresh produce donated from local grocery stores. Another site was the Haywood Street Congregation. Haywood Street Congregation is a church that ministers to the homeless population in Asheville. Our youth were able to participate in a church service and help serve a meal to the congregation afterwards. Throughout the week our youth were able to make relationships and have experiences that helped expand their view of need in the world. Our youth have been challenged to take what they have learned and apply to their own community. We are thankful to AYM and the positive influence they continue to have on our youth.

EPCHigh Mission Trip by Thomas Clanton

Our High School Students visited Sunset Gap Community Center in Cosby, Tennessee for this year’s mission trip. Sunset Gap Community Center is a long established Presbyterian Mission that is actively serving the community of rural Tennessee. They provide housing repairs, food and clothing donations, and much more to the small community of Cosby and the surrounding areas. Our task this summer was to build decks for two trailers in the area. We divided into two teams and were led by two Sunset Gap handymen. Our group worked tirelessly to complete our work. After much drilling, cutting, and hammering we were happy to add improvements onto local homes that desperately needed them. We enjoyed getting to know the residents of the homes we were working on and the members of the Sunset Gap Crew. We were able to see God shine through the love and patience that they showed to us. We learned much about the love of Christ from our time in Tennessee and are thankful to have worked alongside such great people.

Montreat Youth Conference

Foothills Presbytery Senior High Retreat @ Montreat by Thomas Clanton

At the Montreat Youth Conference, rising 10th graders through rising college freshmen spent time with Presbyterian youth groups from around the county to learn how to make “A World of Difference. Our group participated in energizers, signing, worship, and small groups throughout the week. In small groups, each EPC youth was placed in a group with 20-30 other youth that they did not know. These groups gave our youth the opportunity to interact and engage with people from many different places and walks of life. During worship time our youth heard from a keynote speaker in the morning and a pastor in the evening. These speakers challenged the youth to love the way Christ loved and to be active in spreading that love. Our downtime was spent at a mountain home in Black Mountain where the youth were able to form strong bonds and friendships.

The Montreat Youth Conference is always a week that stirs the soul and fills all who attend with the desire to spread the love of Christ.

Welcome New Members!

The Reverend Dr. Doug & Martha Vaughan 205 Bud Nalley Dr. Easley, SC 29642 864-810-3779

Thank You! The family of Sara Jo Ford thanks our EPC family and staff for your many acts of kindness and support during her final days. The Christian love has helped make a difficult time much easier. Thank you again, Bill Ford and Marian Dawkins

We would like to thank everyone at EPC for the outpouring of love, support, calls and prayers we received regarding the death of our mother. Thank you for the wonderful meals that were provided from the church and Seasons Sunday School Class. Each and everyone of you have a special place in our hearts and we are so lucky to have you in our lives. Samantha Kennedy & Stacy Sanders

During VBS we raised enough funds to build 5 of these wells! Each year Marion Medical Mission volunteers travel to Africa where they work hand in hand with the village communities to install shallow wells in Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia. A shallow well means life, not death. Over 80 per cent of deaths from diarrheal diseases due to unsafe water and sanitation in the developing world occur in children below 5 years old. l 00% of all designated donations go to their designated purposes. l 00% of all undesignated dona tions go to the mission field in Africa without the cost of a stomp being deducted. No gift to MMM is used for administrative purposes unless so designated. I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward." Mark 9:41

Dear Easley Presbyterian Church, Marion Medical Mission has received a

GIFT OF LIFE In Honor of of

EPC and FUMC 2016 VBS Volunteers This gift will help build a shallow well in 20 16 in a remote African Village providing them with a safe and sustainable water source.

Easley Presbyterian Church Kindergarten had a day camp during the summer months for preschool children. This year, children enjoyed some regular play time and activities with fun themes such as: Beach Week, Art Week, Dinosaur Dig, Super Heroes and Camping Week. We had a lot of fun!
