EOU HARRIERS HIT SPOTS IN POLLS The Eastern Oregon University women’s and men’s cross country team were each ranked high in the preseason Cascade Collegiate Conference coaches poll. The Mountaineer men were slotted in third receiving 71 points in the poll. The EOU women were placed fourth with 61 points. Eastern’s men came in second place in the 2010 CCC Championship meet, while the women were fourth. The CCC preseason polls, voted on by the conference head coaches, Southern Oregon led the way by sweeping all nine first-place votes in both genders. The Raider men enter the 2011 campaign having won three consecutive CCC crowns; the SOU women, who finished second to CCC champion Concordia last year, are seeking their first-ever conference title.

CROSS COUNTRY STARTS SEASONS IN POLLS The Eastern Oregon University women’s and men’s cross country teams begin their 2011 seasons inside the NAIA Top 25 as released by the national office. The Mountaineer men open the schedule at No. 18 and the women are No. 19. It marks the second straight season both EOU teams begin the season in the Top 25. Last year, the men were No. 9 and the women were No. 15. The Mountaineer men ended the 2010 season in the final poll at No. 10, and the women were No. 23. At the National Championships last season, the Eastern men finished fifth as a team. Karlee Coffey ran for the EOU women and finished second nationally. The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/independents/unaffiliated groups. The first regularseason Top 25 poll will be announced on Sept. 14.

THEY’RE GOING STREAKING The Eastern Oregon University women’s and men’s cross country teams have had a national presence for quite some time. The Mountaineer men have been every Top 25 poll since Sept. 30, 2009, which is 17 consectuive ratings. The EOU women have been in the Top 25, 11 straight polls. Eastern Oregon’s men’s team have at least received a vote in 22 straight polls, while the women appear in at least the receiving votes category 14 consectuive ratings.
