FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Who should attend? Pairing the 16 Drivers of Vital Congregations and The Five Fruitful Practices, the Academy is designed for a team of laity from a church to attend with their pastor. The same people do not have to attend every session. For example, if you want to bring your worship team/committee to the day we discuss Passionate Worship, while bringing your education committee /team to the day about Intentional Faith Development that is fine. However, A count of the number of people attending each session is needed so we can plan for the lunch meal. Do we need to attend all the sessions? Of course to get the most benefit out of the academy, attending all the sessions is important. If your church would like to attend only one session or a few sessions that is allowable but the registration fee is the same no matter how many sessions you attend. Where are the sessions held? We have two sites reserved for the sessions. They are Newcomerstown Christ UMC, 1st Saturday of each meeting month, and Montrose Zion UMC. 2nd Saturday of each meeting month. What is the fee for the academy? The fee is based upon worship attendance. Each church that attends will pay $1 per person of average worship attendance. You pay this fee once no matter how many sessions you attend or how many people you have attending. When are the sessions held? The sessions are on the first or second Saturday of October, February and April beginning October 2012. What is the schedule for each gathering? Registration- 8:30am-9am. Lunch- 12:15pm-1:00pm Worship- 9:00-9:30am Separate Laity Session- 1:15pm-2:30pm Plenary Presentation- 9:30am-12:15pm Separate Clergy Session- 1:15pm-2:30pm Ministry Accountability Groups- 2:40-4:15pm Is Lunch Provided? Yes, lunch is provided at no cost to the participants. Who will lead the plenary discussion sessions? Each session will include a large group plenary session which will be led by pastors and laity from the East Ohio Conference as well as speakers from other conferences.

PLEASE LIST EACH PERSON ATTENDING FROM YOUR CHURCH ON THE REVERSE SIDE

What are ministry accountability groups? The ministry accountability groups are a key component to the academy. For the final 90 minutes of each session church teams will meet in a ministry accountability group with other churches and talk specifically about what they learned and how they will apply what they have learned. This is a important time of sharing and reflection for all who attend.
