Adding power equipment and a rental business catapulted Kimps to “the place” status for local customers, according to third-generation owner Craig Kimps, whose business continues to exceed expectations with “above and beyond” service and breadth of offerings including an expanded 132-foot STIHL display. “Being what we call ‘hometown strong’ has always contributed to our success,” Craig said. “The roots my grandfather and father planted here are most definitely our foundation.”

For more than a decade, Dawn Gregg and her husband Bruce were asked by their Indian Trail customers to open a much-needed hardware store in their neighborhood. The new location, which opened in 2021, is smaller than the other two stores, but Dawn promised “to squeeze just as much into that building as we can so we can serve those neighbors who have supported us for the last 17 years.”
Jenkins Lumber & Hardware in Etna, Wyo. was acquired by Kodiak Building Partners in 2019, but the dealer retains much of its original flavor. The lumber and full-line hardware dealer continues to place a big focus on adding quality service to its customers’ projects. “We try to do what we say we are going to do when we say we are going to do it,” says President Mike Jenkins. “We get engaged in customers’ projects and help them solve problems.”
