Employment & Programme Management Employment

Training & Development Engineer Graduates has designed a sophisticated training and development suite based around our previous experiences of delivery in the energy, defence, pharmaceutical, oil and gas and telecoms sectors.

A major headache when looking at internships is how to employ them. Engineer Graduates is the employer for all interns whilst on programme. The scope of effort saved on your behalf is huge. Engineer Graduates as the employer will also process all expenses, benefits, pensions and performance management duties on your behalf. With costs that are no higher than a temping agency, our belief is that... It’s the whole service which adds value to you and the trainee. Every trainee will succeed or fail through the on-going relationship, rather than just dropping them off at your door and running, the model of a traditional recruiter relationship.

Management Services Include • Contract Management • ‘Onboarding’ and Induction • Security Checks, Drug and Alcohol Testing • Referencing and Right to Work Checks • Travel, Expenses and Relocation Services • Human Resources Management • Pastoral Support

The Graduate Finishing School Our training and development is delivered through six residential modules. The modules occur before and after each ‘attachment’ in both the first and second phase of the programme. These modules are split into core behavioural training and technical training. Both are aligned to the general needs of all trainees and your specific requirements. Each of the six modules is seven days long, four days allotted to programme training and three days allotted to your syllabus. Engineer Graduates will manage the facilitation and administration of your training and can even help you build this training, depending on your experience and resourcing levels. If you require specific technical training Engineer Graduates will be able to source company or industry specific training from our network of university and associate providers. Previous delivery has been to Post Graduate Level.

Value Led Training Engineer Graduates uses the ‘Socratic Method’. In plain English this means that we believe in learning through dialogue rather than chalk and talk. Our values: Mastery, Autonomy and Purpose, underpin the combination of training, experience and networks the GFS provides. This gives the trainees a world of learning opportunities that university or the workplace on their own could never provide.

Performance Management Graduates and Interns represent a particular challenge for any organisation. The combination of innate potential combined with little experience creates a perfect storm for any company with either a standardised performance review structure or little experience of managing this ‘highly combustible’ element.

Page thirteen

Engineer Graduates has honed its performance management systems and processes across diverse companies and sectors over the last decade. Our belief is that we have a made-to-measure system to help nurture, acknowledge and provide appropriate boundaries for ‘Generation Flux’.

The Best Prepared

Retention Performance management kicks in from as early as the sifting process, with a set of quantitative and qualitative performance indicators generated for every part of the recruitment, training and attachment processes. Our appraisal and performance paperwork is ideal for any organisation or trainee looking to continue into preparations for chartership in their discipline field. All paperwork and tools are designed to map across to systems such as the eMPDS provided by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

All of this potential is no good to you as a customer unless it is realised through the trainee joining your business. The Bridge ProgrammeTM has a in built process to ensure that you have the benefit from the investment you put into the programme. Phase One is the initial three month attachment. Subsequently both you and the Trainee have the choice as to whether you want to continue with the relationship to Phase Two, the second fifteen month attachment. This pressure valve has been built into the programme to ensure value to you and that we are following our values: Mastery, Autonomy and Purpose. By allowing this choice we feel that we are moving the relationship between education, employer and employee forwards. Any graduate committing to Phase Two must contractually indicate that they will join your organisation for eighteen months after university, subject to performance.

High-Vis

Safety The clue is in our name.

HIGH-VIS PROVIDES THE LINK BETWEEN SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITY, LETTING THOSE ON THE BRIDGE PROGRAMMETM PAY IT FORWARD FOR ANOTHER GENERATION OF POTENTIAL TECHNOLOGISTS, SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS

EVERY TRAINEE ON THE BRIDGE PROGRAMMETM MUST DELIVER THREE YEARS’ MENTORING IN A SCHOOL ON A 1-2-1 BASIS

Engineer Graduates is an organisation that cut its teeth in some of the most highly regulated industries on the planet. Our team has learned to take the best approaches in safety and to share them. Our target for every employee, customer and trainee is to work safely in a manner that protects and promotes their health and well-being. This extends to understanding the communities in which our customers operate. Our values and principles - Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose underpin our everyday safety culture as well as our delivery of training. These combine to enable the trainees in our care to understand their own accountability for the workplaces they operate in. Every trainee has to monitor and intervene to minimise risk and identify potential hazards to eliminate or control them.

OFFERING THIS SUPPORT AND BEING A ROLE-MODEL IS GOING TO BE ONE OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES THE TRAINEE FACES ON PROGRAMME

THE BRIDGE PROGRAMME™ CAPSTONE IS A SUMMER SCHOOL WITH THE SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE MENTORING.
