3rd May 2013 Dear Parents and Carers I am writing to inform you of the arrangements for Year 11 as we approach the main examination period. All Year 11 students will continue to follow their normal timetable as far as possible until 3.40pm on Monday 3rd June (first Monday after half term). Any examinations take priority during this period, but once any examination is completed, students must return to their normal lessons and/or supervised study time within school. From Tuesday 4th June students will have the option to study at home, provided we have received your written consent. However students must ensure that they :~
Arrive 15 minutes in advance of any examination starting time. Continue to attend all Science lessons until the relevant examination has taken place. Attend additional revision sessions if they are requested to do so by members of staff. Texts will be sent out to inform parents of these sessions.
These arrangements have been put into place in line with the current Department for Education Policy of requiring schools to ‘use study leave sparingly’. When students are studying at home, we are required to use the appropriate code (S) to indicate this, which does count as an ‘authorised absence’ and hence impacts on attendance figures. The above arrangements apply up to and including the time of their final examination. Students must wear full school uniform whenever they are on the school premises and are responsible for ensuring that they have the correct equipment for all lessons/examinations. All textbooks should be returned to the Diploma Learning Centre, marked for the attention of Mrs S Clifford. This should be completed no later than Thursday 20 th June. Finally a reminder that the Year 11 Leavers’ Eucharist will take place at 2:00pm in St. Jude’s Church on Thursday 20th June. Students should meet their form tutor at school by 1:45pm and they will then be registered and walk to the church. I would be grateful if you could return the consent form attached as soon as possible and no later than Friday 10th May 2013. Yours sincerely,
Adrian Richards. Principal.
