is for... I always felt that there was a lot more to Enclave… well a lot more than I could explain just through the medium of fashion. So to sideline the seasonal garment releases (capsules aside) I’ve decided to produce a publication entitled

‘E is for…’. The idea behind it is to give an insight into the workings of the brand, it’s thought processes, design ideas and also as a scrapbook of sorts, filled with photos and designs that may not have made the latest range.

Whenever working on Enclave I try and instill some form of idea into the artwork or weave a thought into it. However sometimes things are created, just because

and there tends to be no rhyme or reason to them. They hold no job other than to look nice, and so become a visual crux to the feel of the brand. They could be as simple as an idiogram that’s always

staples for it’s look and feel. It’s with the ‘E is for…’ publication I will attempt to celebrate these forms of visual progression and as the collection expands they will serve to document Enclave’s evolution.


THE MINUS CAUSE I wanted the first range to celebrate an idea which I’ve always had, I’ve seen it run it’s course through different social circles and it’s always present. A driving passion held by some. I guess it echoes what I want to achieve with Enclave and so I saw it fitting to name my first range after it. The Minus Cause is the idea that no matter what activity you train your hand or condition your mind to do, be it something social or physical, music, design, skating, whatever. There are always a group of people pushing the boundaries and changing the playing-field, for no reason but their own means. They may not even know themselves how their activities shape their own scene, but it’s from these forerunners of the social geometry where the Minus Cause draws its inspiration.

Everybody’s own experience’s can shape how they interact with the world around them and amid the masses everybody has this ability to reform the boundaries of their chosen scene. This is what I’ve named the ‘Minus Cause’, the battle to perfect your own unique skills and in turn help to shape the world around you. With Enclave the goal was to create clothing for those whose lives reflected our ideas and beliefs. To build a unified identity through typography and graphics and make it accessible for whoever wishes to follow us and be part of our brand. Enclave was never a ‘logo’ brand and it never will be, I intend to reinforce it’s identity through more cut n sew garments as we move forward into the years ahead.
