Comet’s X Galaxy Guaranteed safe, ergonomic and easy to use. These are the distinctive features of the Comet X family: 4-axis CNC machining centres designed for working bars or parts in aluminium, PVC, light alloys in general and steel. In the HP version (Comet X6HP), the machine has two additional axes for positioning clamps and reference stops in concurrent time during double operation mode. In Comet X, the 7 kW electrospindle in S1 with high torque is suited for even heavy-duty machining. It moves along the A-axis allowing rotations from 0° to 180°, so the profile can be machined on three faces without having to reposition it. Comet X has a 10-place tool magazine, on board carriage X-axis, that can hold an angular machining head and a blade with a maximum diameter of 180 mm, for machining on the 5 sides of the profile. The mobile worktable facilitates the workpiece loading/unloading operation fully ergonomically, and significantly increases the machinable section on the X-axis.
Touchscreen interface The command and control unit, with suspended interface, allows the operator to view the screen from any position, thanks to the possibility of rotating the monitor on its vertical axis. The operator interface has a 24” touchscreen display in 16:9 format, portrait mode, with all the USB connections necessary to interface with a remote PC and NC. An operator panel and mouse, in addition to the set up for connecting a barcode reader, remote operator panel and front USB port, complete the equipment.

HUMAN SIDE Power and flexibility of the electrospindle The 7 kW electrospindle in S1 with high torque is suited for heavy duty machining. It moves along the A-axis allowing rotations from 0° to 180°, so the profile can be machined on 3 faces without being repositioned. It can be used on certain types of extruded steel and on aluminium profiles, thanks to the availability of a lubrication system, settable by software, whose twin tank allows the use of both minimal diffusion oil and oil emulsion mist.

LIGHTS AND COLOURS
Glass protection Design and function come together in pursuit of the operator’s health and safety. The care and attention given to researching the materials confirm this. Safe, perfect, resistant, long-lasting. These are the advantages of choosing glass for protecting the new Comet machining centres. Machine glass cuts operate to flag machine statuses, thanks to a light colour interface. The whole visor slides downwards, thus making it easier to load the pieces; additionally, the ends feature an aluminium guard that acts as a support plane if needed.
ALWAYS NEAR Tool magazine The tool holder magazine is integrated in the X-axis, placed in the lower section and in a recessed position with respect to the electrospindle, and allows reducing the time for the tool change operation. Particularly useful for machining the head and end of the extruded profile, it enables avoiding the stroke to reach the magazine. The magazine can contain up to 10 tool holders with respective tools, that can be configured at the operator’s discretion. It can hold an angular machining head and a blade with a maximum diameter of 180 mm, for machining on the 5 sides of the profile. Each position of the tool holder is provided with a sensor detecting the correct cone position.
Foldaway tunnel Integrated with the machine’s aesthetics and design, thanks to the perforated sheet metal for transparency and lightness, the tunnel opens and closes as needed. As its length can be reduced when not in use, it helps save space at the workshop. The outlet for the chip conveyor belt and its engine are built into the lower section, in view of an aesthetic and functional design.

WHAT YOU WANT Automatic clamps In various Comet X models, profile clamping is ensured by pneumatic clamps with automatic positioning. The clamps table moves along the Y-axis to facilitate profile loading and increase the working field. Positioning heights are always managed by NC, which means significantly reduced handling times, precise positioning, and zero errors due to manual intervention. In the Comet X4 model, the carriage hooks each clamps unit and moves it to the position established by control.
HP version In the Comet X6HP model, the machine has two additional H and P axes with numerical control that handle two independent systems that can position the clamps in concurrent time, and position the workpiece reference stops along the whole length of the machine. This allows operating in dynamic multi-piece double operation. The machine therefore has two operation modes: a single work area for bars up to 7,7 m long, or two independent work areas in double operation.
