About Me: Hi everyone! My name is Emily Nelson. I grew up in the small farming community of Trochu, just 45 minutes southeast of Red Deer. I am the second youngest of 4 children, who I am very close to. I have two older brothers and one younger sister. I graduated from Trochu Valley School in 2011, and the following fall moved to Red Deer, where I attended Red Deer College.

What I Did This Summer: This summer I spent a lot of my time working at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. When I wasn’t working, I was outside in the sunshine, hanging out with my friends and family. I played in a couple slow pitch tournaments over the course of the summer and had a blast. I hadn’t played softball since I was in the 7th grade, so I was a bit rusty! I also went camping at Sheerness for a few days, where we went boating. I tubed behind the boat and tried wakeboarding for the first time. I was not a very good wake-boarder, but it was a fun experience. When I had free time, I made visits to Trochu to spend time with my family and of course my horse. Overall I had a pretty laid back, but fun summer and am looking forward to this new school year! 270602

Interests: I absolutely love all sports. In high school I played both volleyball and basketball. I also played club volleyball in the spring and participated in track & field. After I graduated high school, I helped coach my school’s high school girls volleyball and basketball teams. I am also a big hockey fan. My brothers both played hockey when I was growing up and I loved hanging out at the rink watching them. My favorite hockey team is the Pittsburgh Penguins and my favorite hockey player is obviously Sidney Crosby! In the spring and summer I spend a lot of my time on horseback. I love barrel racing and pole bending on my horse, Nellie. I also love going camping, boating, and spending time outdoors with friends and family.
