STEVE ROBSON ANALYSIS
Stephen Robson joined Greenwich Printmakers in 2010. He went to Goldsmith's College and has a background in teaching and working in photography. He is strongly drawn to the work of artists such as Samuel Palmer, Edward Hopper and Paul Nash. The Thames estuary and the coast of Norfolk and Suffolk have been favourite subjects. The reason I like these three images I chose is because they include a similar theme that my print does. I like the use of black & white and the texture on the print. Also, the industrial feel to the picture. Robson tends to make you focus on the center of the image.
FABIENNE RIVORY STYLE
Fabienne Rivory makes these uncommonly lovely pictures by mirroring photographs and overlaying watercolour paints. She has been creating this form of artwork since 2007, a method she compares to the exploration of memory and reality. I created my piece by mirroring a picture and making it black and white. I then overlapped an ink painting I had previously done, and changed the colour from orange to a faded purple.
Nobuyki Taguchi is an artist who uses mirror images, but unlike Fabienne Rivory who manually adds the reflection, he uses mirrors that are already in the shot.
