About Me My name is Emilia Wheeler, and I am an Interior Design Student at Iowa State University. My design philosophy stems from the belief that interior design should embody the feeling of comfort while still being extraordinary and timeless in its design. A design goal of mine is for my designs to transform a seemingly empty space into something innovative, luxurious, and functional.

The goal of this project is to take the Fendi store in Rome and transform it into a flagship store for our client, Chiara Pagliaroli. She is a recent graduate from the European Institute of Design.
Palazzo Fendi, Largo Carlo Goldoni, 420, 00187 Roma RM, Italy Altera Flagship 10,800 sqft
Designer Profile Chiara’s collection called Altera is mainly inspired by nature. Her designs were made to be simple showing contrast between different textures and colors. Her designs, also, show details in the right way without it being too much. The collection was influenced by three key ideas: Destruction, Erosion, and Invasion. Chiara likes the idea of a warm setting with natural elements.

B O Concept Statement Nature plays a large role in today’s world. It tends to bring feelings of comfort, relaxation, and freedom. Nature has many contrasting surfaces and colors, which bring about one’s senses. Raw materials, textures, and natural elements will be incorporated throughout this space. Neutral tones create the perception of hospitality and being at ease. They are, also, looked at as sophisticated colors.

Spanish Style Home This Residence was designed for a growing family located is Castle Hills, TX. The Family’s mother is a textile designer, therefore needing an at home studio, the father commutes to San Antonio for work and needs his own office. They have two kids, one girl and one boy. They are also planning on adopting another child therefore needing a spare bedroom. This family also has a live in nanny due to both parents having busy work schedules. The nanny has a private space on the main floor with her own private entrance.
Concept Statement This growing family has family from Mexico and it is important to them that this residence reflects their spanish heritage. Therefore, this projects color scheme is heavily influenced by a type of flower called the Dahlia. This flower is native to Mexico, the flower has a wide variety of colors including beautiful blues, deep reds, vibrant yellows and many others. In many areas of this home it will showcase accents of reds, blues, yellows, and whites.

Ames CoLab This coworking space is being created for a new business venture called Ames CoLab. This space accommodates for young professionals, artists, freelancers, independent consultants, and start-up businesses in the Ames, Iowa area. Clients will pay a monthly fee for work spaces or for enclosed artist studios. The studios will have a block scheduling time from 4 hours to 6 hours. The space’s open hours are from 8 am to 12 am, 7 days a week.
Concept Statement Since this space is located in Ames I wanted to connect the overall design and spacial flow to Ames and some of its history. I chose to connect it to the colorful knitted quilt that was hung over one of the buildings on main street in 2016. The quilt idea was created by the Iowa state design school, but people from all over the U.S. participated. This also shows how quilting is still a part of people’s culture today. I also decided to use the color yellow because it not only is warm and welcoming, but it also symbolizes optimism, which is important in a space like this.
