Exploring the Dalmatian coast with...

Adriatic Princess

Small ship coastal cruising

Uncover Dalmatia’s natural beauty

The Croatian archipelago is the largest in the Adriatic, harbouring hundreds of islands and islets, giving you plenty of places to explore among the remarkable azure waters. Having long served as a relatively unknown gem of a holiday destination, the Dalmatian coast encompasses history and natural beauty.

Island hopping around Croatia From its island-speckled coastline to its ancient walled cities, Croatia is a land steeped in tales of times long past. Each bustling island and picturesque isle boasts its own ancient sites and monuments that have been lovingly taken care of for centuries, and our exclusively chartered small ships are able to sail right into the heart of these destinations, giving you plenty of time to explore independently and at your own pace. Ask our knowledgeable tour director to point you in the direction of the best local restaurants and bars, as well as the area’s historic landmarks and cultural marvels. Adriatic Pearl

Our top tips for small ship cruising… Our dress code is relaxed, exactly how your holiday should be. We encourage you to pack t-shirts and shorts for the warmer weather, as well as a light weather-proof jacket and a sweater and trousers to accommodate for the coastal breeze of an evening.

With plenty of delightful sights to explore, comfortable shoes are a necessity, but you may wish to also include a pair of sandals for times spent on the sun-kissed beaches. Your cruise includes a number of swim stops in remote, idyllic locations, so make sure you pack your swimwear too.

Be prepared by getting your currency in advance of your travel. Although so much is included in your cruise, make sure you bring some Croatian Kuna for days spent independently exploring and for selected evening dinners at our charming port stops. Please note your small ship does not accept credit card payments.

You’ll know, from seeing classic images of Mediterranean harbours full of yachts owned by the rich and famous, that small ships tend to dock next to each other. You’ll certainly see this in action during your cruise and it is all part of the experience. In fact, when leaving your ship, you may need to cross another ship to get to the shore side. Comfortable shoes are sure to come in handy in this instance.

What to expect on your small ship coastal cruise

If you haven’t yet experienced small ship coastal cruising, then you are in for a real treat. It’s unlike any other form of cruising. At just 148ft in length your intimate small ship is packed with home comforts, essential for coming back to after a day of exploring onshore. Enjoy a drink on board

Your on board experience Although the size of your small ship does not allow for many of the facilities you may have come to expect from those of our Star-Ships sailing Europe’s rivers, this is more than made up for by the unique experiences you can expect throughout your cruise. The real highlights of choosing small ship coastal cruising will become clear when the myriad islands and remote ports, otherwise inaccessible by larger vessels, unwind in front of your very eyes. Step off the back of the ship for one of the many idyllic swim stops, pull into a picturesque harbour port for an al fresco dinner and, on return to your ship, share tales with fellow guests and friendly crew, during time spent enjoying a drink in our informal, low-key public areas. Adriatic Pearl

We’re delighted to have chartered the MV Adriatic Princess (launched in 2017) and the MV Adriatic Pearl (refurbished in 2018) for our 2019 summer itineraries sailing the Dalmatian coast. The perfect ships from which to escape the formalities of larger vessels and enjoy the casual nature of small ship cruising. These well-proportioned, smaller ships are designed to comfortably sail along one of the world’s most picturesque coastlines, with a maximum capacity of just 36 guests and a personalised level of service. You’ll soon be on first-name terms with the attentive crew and your friendly cruise director, all of whom will be on-hand to attend to your every need and to ensure your experience is one of total comfort. The exclusivity of your cruise also allows you to make lasting relationships with your fellow travellers, as you converse over a drink in the bar or marvel at the views from the Sun Deck together.

Dining & beverages

With fantastic coastlines to explore and a selection of special onshore experiences available every day, you won’t want to spend much time in your cabin. But, you can rest assured that this spacious, clean and comfortable cabin will have everything you could possibly need.

On sailing days, you can head to the Sun Deck at the top of your yacht-like ship, to soak up the impressive mountain ranges, lush forestry and sprawling, golden shorelines of the Mediterranean.

The air-conditioned salon-restaurant offers a more intimate dining atmosphere, letting you get to know your fellow travellers over a typical Mediterranean buffet-style meal.

A host of amenities, as well as an en-suite bathroom, provides a cosy home-awayfrom-home. Enjoy a good night’s sleep in your queen-size (or twin-share) bed, before waking up refreshed and ready for a new day of adventures.

Bask in the glow of the sun and enjoy the fresh sea air, as Croatia’s unique scenery unfolds. Relax on a sun lounger or sofa, chat with fellow travellers over a drink, or enjoy some ‘me time’ sunbathing, reading a book or catching up with friends and family back home using the on-board Wi-Fi.

Enjoy wholesome and freshly prepared home-cooked dishes for a different take on authentic cuisine than is offered on our river-going Star-Ships. Every one has been carefully planned around sailing times, giving you the freedom to take advantage of free time to spend experiencing local hospitality onshore, without the fear of missing an included meal back on board. And, lunch and dinner can be enjoyed with your choice of two complimentary drinks.
