Saturday 28 October, 7.30pm Venue: Fraser Noble Hall £12 / £8, 90 minutes (14+ years) University of Leicester Orchestra Piano: Nicholas McCarthy Conductor: Paul Jenkins A unique, musical experience inspired by Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand. Infamous pianist Paul Wittgenstein commissioned Ravel to write him a concerto after he lost his right arm during the WWI. The assassin that triggered that conflict, Gavrilo Princip, was kept in shackles in prison, his withered arm tied up with piano wire. Unravelling narratives surround this piece of music and together they weave a true story that spans 100 years. Experience a deconstructed reorchestrated exploration of the legacy of war and the healing power of music to overcome personal tragedy. Commissioned by Lincoln Performing Arts Centre, Attenborough Arts Centre and Nottingham Lakeside Arts. Supported by Arts Council England.
