S CHEMATIC D ESIGN Sunset & Gordon

S&G was a Multi-Story, Mixed-Use Tower that not only incorporated an existing historical building, but included Ground Level Retail, Office Space, and Residential space. Being a fast-paced project with several concerned parties to please, this project required the weekly creation of Sexy Images. These images were included with a design packet that kept all concerned parties updated to the schedule, design, and progress. After helping with the initial massing and the early Schematic Design, my tasks mostly consisted of creating those “Sexy” images using a combination of SketchUp, Photoshop and InDesign.

My Role

After helping with the initial massing and the early Schematic Design, my tasks mostly consisted of creating those “Sexy images using a combination of SketchUp, Photoshop and InDesign. The primary reason for using this specific combination of programs was the need for quick turnaround. By setting up a photoshop background with context and street life, we were able to continue developing the design without loosing rendering time every time a design decision was made.

BUILT WORKS ELP Dream Shop

As the economy crashed and my job fell pray to our nation’s financial distresses, I had the opportunity to head home and help my family out after a very unfortunate fire. This fire gave way to a Dream Shop. My role in this project was comprehensive. I designed, developed, and constructed this shop from the ground up. Our goal was to build a functional, super-insulated building that would stand the test of time on a ranch. With an insulation rating approaching an R40 in the walls and an R60 in the ceiling we could create a large space that is kept at a comfortable working temperature. The insulation factors only being half of the battle, we installed a ground source heat pump to eďŹƒciently heat all spaces.

ELP Guest Quarters

Within this Dream Shop we created an apartment that could be used for guests, an additional employee, or even a small rental. This design incorporates the same concepts of energy eďŹƒciency that the rest of the project relies on. Being a project that is more of a luxury than an essential structure, we tried to incorporate as many money saving strategies as we could without sacraficing quality. Some of these strategies included salvaged or custom made hardware, electric fence insulators for structural cable supports, and a rubber stock tank converted to a tub/shower.

M ASTER-P LANNING Story Mill

Story Mill was a large Master-Planning project that included adaptive re-use of an abandoned Grain Storage facility along with the development of single and multiple family neighborhoods. The Mill became a town center where Businesses, Services and HighDensity Housing existed as an anchor for the multifamily and single-family homes that scattered the rest of the development. My primary task on this project was to develop initial massings for the high-desity development, create plans and imagery that would get all concerning parties excited about the project, and act as an advisor to my colleges about local nuances of the site and community.

El Rincon

El Rincon was a massive Resort Development that included terrain that ranging from prime BeachFront to Sharp Hillsides. Within this development were Name-Brand resort plots, multiple golf courses, multi-acre private lots, single home lots and a town-center. My primary task on this project was to help create plans and imagery that would express design intentions to clients, excite future buyer, and show controlling municipalities or intentions for the property.

C ONSTRUCTION D OCUMENTS Block 42

42 was another MixedUse, Multi-Story tower that included Ground Level Retail with Apartments above. Being on the precipice of the financial meltdown, this project was not a typical fast-paced document set. We were limited to 40hrs per week so that the developer could “feel-out the market as the crash loomed.

My Role

On top of document coordination, my primary task for this project was to design and draw all required details for this structure. Believing that all Architects should know how their designs are built, I asked for this challenge. Considering that this project was never built, I did not have the opportunity to see how accurate and complete my detailing ended up. I am confident that I would have flourished in this task.

R E N D ERIN G Bellevue

Bellevue was a pair of Mixed-Use Condo Towers that were already under construction when I joined the team. They needed some marketing images that they could show to real estate agents and perspective buyers. Using the construction set as a guide, my primary task was to build the 3D models and render the finishes based on what the Interior Design team picked. This involved several rounds of backand-forth between Client, Design Team, and myself.

Repleo

Repleo was a project without a site. The idea was to develop a design that could move hand-in-hand with the branding of a product. My primary tasks were to develop the simple and practical 3D set of spaces, place furniture and finishes within those spaces, render those spaces and place people and context in the final images.
