Loretta Lawson joined the Phoenix coaching staff in August 2006, returning to her alma mater. Playing for coach Brenda Paul from 1997-2001, Lawson currently holds the Elon records for career three-point field goals made (234), career three-point field goals attempted (741) and three-point field goals made in a game (nine). In the 1999-2000 season, she set school and Big South Conference records for three-point field goals made (91) and attempted (286). Lawson helped Elon reach the finals of the Big South Conference Tournament in 2000-01 when the squad finished the season with 16-14 overall record after falling to Liberty in the title game. Lawson has served as the head coach for both the JV and varsity programs at Williams High School in Burlington, N.C. Lawson earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise/sport science in 2001. Her primary responsibilities include guard development, film exchange, community outreach, camp operations and opponent film breakdown.
