TNT

As an initiative of the Math Applications Department, the TNT Pool was created to push Camp Math 19 and Mathsaya X to greater heights by making the seminars more experience-based learning and by adding participant-centered processing sessions.

Furthermore, the TNT Pool seeks to show that applications in Math extends to leadership. It is the goal of the MathApp Department to hone its members to the leaders that they can be.

Math in Leadership. Leadership through Math.

{WHO ARE WE}

TNTs… but more! Three L’s! We are in the pursuit of Mathematical Excellence

LEAD

{

As TNTs, we will serve as an example of servant leadership to our participants. We are expected to listen deeply, care genuinely, promote teamwork, challenge growth, and inspire excellence to all our participants. We will be the constant faces the kids will be seeing, forming the bridge between the organizers and them. We can also expect that whatever they experience will be a preview of what life as a college student, or more likely, a math major, would be. Hence, we take responsibility in making their math camps as memorable as it can get.

}

LEARN

of our overall objective as TNTs will be to promote { Part individual learning, and we do so by facilitating. As defined, facilitating is the act of assisting or making easier progress or improvement. Although we expect all inputs to come from the lectures, group dynamics and other activities, it is through the TNTs that the processing will occur, leading the participants to discover for themselves what truly made a mark in their Camp Math or Mathsaya experience. Hopefully, their self-discovery will be applied to their own contexts and experiences as students, be it academically, in extra-curricular, or any aspect of their lives outside the math seminars.

}

LAUGH

{ There is no learning nor leading when we do not enjoy the ride. Laugh if you must :) The job of a TNT is to facilitate the entertainment too, if not be the source of entertainment. Trust us, you will also get entertained. There will be lots of surprises along } the way!

At the end of the day, what we want is that the participants don’t just “float around” the three or four Saturdays, but actually pick something substantial from us, and hopefully, have it become part of their lives forever. We aim to put every activity in Camp Math and MathSaya as one big experiential learning cycle.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU Laying the responsibilities

Flexibility in handling changes in the program Attendance in the TNT preparation sessions.

Ability to work with a wide variety of people

Calmness in times of emergencies

A deep appreciation for mathematical learning and excellence

Open-mindedness and willingness to learn Willingness to play and share a sense of adventure with the participants

BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE ASK OF YOU IS

COMMITMENT.

COMMITMENT. Our dream is to have 12 TNTs who are willing to commit to all four Saturdays of Camp Math 19. However, if you are unable to do so because you are not available on some Saturdays, please don’t leave us! We still need you! :) Thus, consider all the requirements, responsibilities, and the endless possibilities of this experience.

b. I wanna volunteer as a Sec/Log/Prog member!

For MathApp members (especially those who chose to be under the TNT Pool), you are required to choose between the two since this will be the basis for your retention. This is because Camp Math is the only MathApp project for the First Semester.
