HELLO

a little about me before we get the ball rolling

2.

elle trevorrow B.Design (Interior Design) (Hons)

What I appreciate most about my position as an Interior Designer is not just the final product, but the creative process undertaken to get you there. Inspiration comes to me in many forms, whether it be nostalgic memories growing up in a small Queensland town adorned with idiosyncratic details or recent travels abroad - I like design to be created with intention, integral to it’s context. Studying a Design Bachelor at the Queensland University of Technology, has opened me to a broader idea of what design encompassed. Along with majoring in Interior Design, I completed minors in Graphic Design, Photography and Visual Arts. Since graduating, I have maintained an active interest in these fields. Over the last five and a half years I’ve been fortunate enough to work on a broad range of projects for three award winning practices across the world. If I’m not drowned in yellow trace, covered in pen or running my fingers over the keyboard, I’m usually outside with my cameras. I feel fortunate to be part of a creative community of inspiring people both in and outside of work and the challenges that responsibility entails. I will never pass the opportunity to learn or offer my knowledge.

The Burleigh Apartments is a Bureau Proberts, high end residential project comprising of 7, full floor, luxury apartments on Burleigh Waterfront. This project is significant to me as I led a small interiors team through conceptual, schematic and marketing stages. The client requested that Bureau Proberts create a design that compliments the location and delivers a subtle luxury, whilst moving away from conventional ‘Gold Coast’ design.

In response to the brief, the palette presents soft tones and honest materials. The core of the floor plan is treated with heavier finishes, to give contrast to a very open and light space. Design elements are solid and luxurious, yet not overwhelming. The apartments are open to views spanning from the living areas and the indoor/outdoor kitchen. Special focus was placed on blending indoor/ outdoor living through the kitchen design. Unique design solutions were used to work around constraints.

The Wellington Apartments is Bureau Porberts, high end residential project comprising of 8, full floor, luxury apartments on the River in Brisbane City. I was able to work through from conceptual to tender stage on this project, coordinating the interior design team.

The outcome was a selection of rich materials and textures, with earthly tones and veins. Joinery details were particularly considered to give a high level finish, whilst the layout of the apartment gives praise the views.

The brief was to design high end apartments that have a sophisticated feel, whilst being honest to it’s Brisbane River context.

Special focus from the interior design team was given to the kitchen and bathroom designs.

The Teneriffe Warehouse is a single residence, Wrightson Stewart Project. I worked through all design phases, from conceptual to design administration. I was also a part of the projects on-site stylist team for media photo shoots.

The client brief was to move in a masculine direction, whilst still creating a comfortable domestic environment which divides him from his busy working life. The design concept was directed towards a 1920’s inspired industrial aesthetic.

The existing site was a Wool Store apartment, iconic to the character of Teneriffe. Key to this project was maintaining the architectural integrity of the apartment. The space presented high ceilings, iconic red brick, exposed beams and structural supports.

The project won the Best of State Award in the Australian Interior Design Awards 2013, was a finalist in Houses Awards 2013 for Apartment, Unit or Townhouse and a finalist in the IDEA Awards 2013 for Single Residential.

In accentuating the architectural integrity of this space, existing structural beams were painted black. Flimsy partition walls were removed to open the space and original timber floors restored. Furniture selection was thoroughly considered, contributing to the ‘Sophisticated Bachelor Pad’ aesthetic.

The Abi and Joseph Retail store is an Wrightson Stewart, Mid-range retail project located in Westfield Garden City. I was able to work conceptually on this project and also be involved in build phase. Abi & Joseph are a fitness and lifestyle brand that gave Wrightson and Stewart the task of designed their first retail store. The vision for the Abi & Joseph identity reinforces notions of femininity, warmth and community during this crucial point in the development of the brand. The

design is targeted towards a young to middle age market. Upon entering the space the customer is presented with an architectural form of timber screens set amongst merchandise, props that reinforce the brand’s message and community-engaged elements such as community boards and information pamphlets. Soft, muted tones compliment Abi and Joseph’s vibrant palette and projected images showcase current collections on warm plywood surfaces.

The QUT Partnering Office is a Bureau Proberts, Commercial office space project located at QUT, Kelvin Grove. It was my responsibility to manage this project and coordinate a small interiors team through Design development and Documentation stages. I was able to complete all design stages of this project from Conceptual design to Design Administration over the period of a year. The Client for the project was Johnson and Johnson. The company required a partnering office in the

Science precinct of QUT. The Brief was to create an energetic environment that embodied Johnson and Johnson branding standards, whilst also functional for working requirements. The body of works involved planning, joinery design, finishes selections and furniture selections – both internal and external. The existing site comprised of three zones, being the Exterior Entry, Atrium Space and Partnering Office. To enter the Partnering Office all other zones had to be accessed.

golds gym

interior design portfolio . august 2017 PHOTOGRAPHS FROM WRIGHTsON STEWART

32.

Gold’s Gym is a Wrightson Stewart, Commercial Health and Lifestyle project. I was highly involved in this project through conceptual design, development and documentation. Only being in a design team of 3 people, I had the opportunity to liaise with consultants and contractors and present design concepts to the client. The concept for the Gold’s Gym fit out is to integrate the original brand iconography with the injection of re-energized forms. The exploration of the original

brand iconography inspired a homage to the gym’s prestigious past: being developed in Venice Beach, California in the late 60’s/ early 70’s and being the set for the iconic Schwarzenegger movie, Pumping Iron and the Mr America contest. Nostalgic and rich to the brand, the original ‘Gold’s Gym’ elements are all investigated through the design process and integrated through the use of large scale graphics. This concept is elevated by creating a colour palette that is fresh, rich and on brand.

Materials + finishes

A mixture of textures and tones have been utilised to create this environment. The ‘pattern’ or ‘line work’ is emphasized simplistically with the original ‘gold’s gym yellow’.

35.

The Graphic design elements made a large impact in the space. Stills were taken from the Schwarzenegger’s, Pumping Iron and blown-up into large scale pixelated images.

CHILDRENS HOSPITAL

37.

interior design portfolio . august 2017 Render IMAGES from ssh

38.

The Kuwait Children’s Hospital is a SSH Project. It is to be the largest hospital of its kind in the world. It features 792 beds that will suit all medical needs and methods of treatment. The 300,000 sqm hospital is located within the Al Sabah Medical Area, in AlShuwaikh. The Kuwait Children’s Hospital is unique to my folio due to type and scale. The SSH London team worked most predominantly in the ‘Private Zone’ planning.

The design of the Hospital refers to the narrative of the ‘Sea Shanty’, typically described as the state of the sea and the cadence of work. The narrative is evident in micro-scale and macro-scaled design. Geometry prescribes the stylist output of the sea shanty narrative. Interior planes are treated with origami folds, emphasized through light and shadow play.

GHALA HEIGHTS DEVELOPMENT

44.

Ghala Heights is a SSH, Mixed Use Development project in Oman. The project comprises of: 25% residential, 25% hotel accommodation, 10% retail shopping centre and 40% office space.

During my time on this project, SSH London focused mainly on the finishes, layout and documentation: Revision A, Tender Package Drawings for the Residential, Hotel Accommodation and Retail areas.

The project was delivered to SSH as a development site and they have taken advantage of it’s ocean views. The concept is all related to maximizing ocean view from most segments of the building.

The interior environments were to be created with simple design elements and a neutral palette.
