TAINTED LIES By Ellen Krug Tainted lies hidden in books in writing Stacked away from curious eyes of invaders Competes what we sometimes Leave behind before our lives Wither away to ashes before we are dying. Life smoothes those who are weak And can’t stand up for themselves And what they believe in each day. They ponder like lost souls with dreams gone up in smoke. Time seems to evaporate leaving trails Of tainted lies gone undetected Stored away in boxes With journals and pictures Until they are discovered years or decades later Stuffed away in a closet of tainted lies Of those who had secrets never to be discovered.
