We are known as the ‘Home of Theatre’ during Fringe and we’ve just got a little bigger. With the addition of 32 Holden Street into our family we’ve created the ‘Holden Street Theatres’ Arts Park’. Now there is a hub for artists to relax, collaborate, develop and perform their art. The Arts Park will encourage and nourish the arts industry in SA, and help grow local artists. We are recognised globally as a leader in the South Australian arts community, and strive to encourage local and international productions to be active within Adelaide’s theatre scene. Our HST Edinburgh Fringe Award is the only award to offer a tour to Australia, and our HST Adelaide Fringe Award assists a local artist or company to produce work and develop their practice. HST are proud to support classical theatre, new work, and burgeoning talent. We are 6 minutes from the city with an easy walk from the free tram near the Entertainment Centre…and we have an amazing wine list, delicious food, lovely outdoor and indoor bars and a gorgeous garden.

Naomi In 2015, Patrick’s mum took her own life.
Even while dealing with the horrific shock and grief of the loss, Patrick was left with the overwhelming question: why? How could this have happened? What were the signs missed? Who was to blame? In this world premiere solo play from award-winning actor and writer Patrick Livesey (DIЯT, Gone Girls, The Boy, George) and director Bronwen Coleman (DIЯT), Livesey uses verbatim interviews as the basis for this gripping and, at times, heartbreaking new play about love and mental illness. VENUS IN FUR by David Ives
A sexy, subversive modern classic from multi-award winner Wil King (DIЯT, Netflix’s Why Are You Like This) and Bridget Gao-Hollitt (Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Superpumped). It’s been a long day of auditions and writer/director Thomas still hasn’t found an actress worthy of his new play... until Vanda walks in. Over the course of the night, the two seem to hit it off; as Thomas sees the character come to life before his very eyes. But who is Vanda? How does she know the play off-by-heart? And who’s auditioning who in this fiery battle for dominance? David Ive’s funny, enthralling, Tony-Award winning look at sexual power dynamics in the workplace is reimagined for a post #metoo era by two of Australia’s most exciting young stars, under the direction of Green Room nominee Daniel Lammin.

Meet Me at Dawn
Student game developers, Monique and Bailey, are paired together in their final assignment. As they attempt the project, the women confront the many effects of isolation and their new restricted realities. This newly devised theatre piece explores the resilience of the human spirit and asks: where can our mind take us when our bodies are trapped?
Two women wash up on a distant shore following a violent boating accident. Dazed, they look for a path home. But this unfamiliar land is not what it seems - and though they may be together, they have never been further apart. Unflinchingly honest and tenderly lyrical, Meet Me at Dawn is a modern fable, exploring the triumphs of everyday love.

About HST & Our Awards Holden Street Theatres is the ‘Home of Theatre’ in Adelaide and is one of the city’s most loved boutique venues. We strive to support Adelaide’s arts industry, and offer performances and venue hire services all year round. HST strive for cultural and artistic significance on a local, national, and international scale, but above all we’re passionate about theatre. We are internationally recognised for our high calibre program during the Adelaide Fringe Festival due to the success of The Holden Street Theatres’ Edinburgh Fringe Award. The award is recognised as one of the most prestigious awards on the Edinburgh circuit and is the only award of its kind in the world to offer a tour to the Adelaide Fringe. Through this pathway, we introduce new work and world theatre trends to our own industry and audiences, and motivate local artists to create and present theatre in Edinburgh. Some stand-outs from our program over the past ten years include Sh!t Theatre Drink Rum with Expats, Build A Rocket, Flesh & Bone, A Gambler’s Guide to Dying, Bitch Boxer by Charlotte Josephine, Bound by Jesse Britton, Glory Dazed by Cat Jones, Heroine for Breakfast by Philip Stokes, and The Tailor of Inverness – Krawiec z Inverness by Matthew Zajak. In 2021 we knew the award was going to look a little bit different. With international touring unlikely to be on the cards we moved to more innovative ideas, thus creating the HST On Screen program. By bringing out high quality recordings this has

allowed us to bring not just one show, but a whole program of high calibre international shows with East Van to Adelaide! Straight from Vancouver, this program contains some of the best theatre Canada has to offer as well as some hilarious musical theatre and provocative cabaret. The Holden Street Theatres’ Adelaide Fringe Award is given in association with the Adelaide Critics Circle to a local company or artist to support them in the development of their next work, or for performance throughout the year or during the following Fringe. This is the only award of its kind in the Adelaide Fringe that gives back to our own industry in this way. Past winners of this award include Taylor Nobes, starheART Theatre, Mim Sarre, CCtheatreCo, Joanne Hartstone, and Josh Belperio. While 2021 has been a tough year for many, especially those in the arts, we would like to thank all of our wonderful supporters, staff, volunteers, performers and patrons for their continued love and support. 2022 poses another year of challenges for us and many in the industry, but we look forward to a bright future and for more opportunities to keep the arts alive in our great state. Thank you to Arts SA for funding the venues, AIF for funding the Guide, Coopers for the t-shirts, Fringe for the RISE grant, Wines by Geoff Hardy for their support and Novatech for their understanding and support through such a difficult time. We humbly embrace our ‘Home of Theatre’ title and we adore and cherish our dedicated audience. Thank you for choosing to see one of our shows, and we look forward to seeing you around Holden Street again soon!
