The Recorder’s Ramblings... Ill Sir Mike Harper, PP

The month of April is now in the history books and moving on into month of May. We had a great turnout for the all Masonic night. Once again the Longhorn provided a great dinner. The Actors did a fantastic job with the “Return to the Upper Room” play. The Duck Race Tickets sales are going well. Thanks to all that have stepped up and volunteered to help. Our sales are ahead of last year. Upcoming Duck sales are shown on the Duck Race calendar. We do need volunteers for the upcoming Bloomsday show. A Constant Contact will be going out to show where we need help. We also will be needing help with the remainder of the sales season including Pig Out at the Park and the Fair. Schedules will be at each stated meeting and put out on Constant Contact. The Circus went well. Once again thanks to all the volunteers that helped out. We also had a great response to the circus daddy tickets. As a result of these tickets there will be approximately 700 kids that can now go to the circus. I would like to thank Gary and Marie Van Dyke for their hard work putting the circus together. We are holding an appreciation lunch on May 5 for the wonderful volunteers, and you will need to RSVP for that, please, just call the Shrine Office, 509-624-2762. We had a blast on the Potes Mini Wine Trip. Our Pote and his lovely bride put a lot of work into this trip and made it a fun filled weekend. The weather was great in the Walla Walla Valley and the wine was great, I’m told. I was the designated driver. We need to get petitions in prior to the May meeting. We will be doing a Cold Sands on 4 new nobles that night. So if you have a petition please get it into the office so we can add to our list of new candidates. If you are the first line signer for a new candidate it will be your responsibility to make sure that new candidate knows when they need to be here for the Cold Sands ceremony. The May stated meeting will be a very informative meeting with lots of things to cover. Besides the cold sands we will be presenting some necessary bylaw changes that need to be done to fall in line with Imperial changes and to fall in line with how we run our Temple. These changes will be published in the June issue of the Word prior to the stated meeting. The Special ladies luncheon will be held on 11 May. We have been getting a great response to the Mad Hatter invitations that were sent out. If you can help out with transporting some of our special ladies please call the Shrine Office. The Lilac parade is coming up on 19 May. I know that we have to be setup early in the afternoon so the Moonshriner’s will be providing hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages at the Moonshriner bus. This is our Potentates command performance. The Freedom Raffle ticket sales have started and we need your help selling tickets. Tickets books are available in the Shrine Office and will be available at the Stated meeting. Please pick up a book of tickets and put on your salesman hat. The Freedom Raffle will be on 4 August. There will be prizes for the top ticket salesman’s. .......continued on page 4...... 3
