Note From the POTE Illustrious Sir Jim Stewart I write this as an Official Honorary MoonShriner! I caught my breath about a week ago!! Thanks for a fun event at our Stated Meeting. We have attended a few Official Visits so far and have Columbia Basin and Northeast Washington this month. They are always fun and informative. The St. Patrick’s Day parade was rainless!! We had a good showing and thank you to Jerry Combs for all your hard work. The Divan went to Sans Souci after the parade and had corned beef and cabbage with 106 of the tenants there. Thanks you Sans Souci for your hospitality and a “FUN” afternoon. Remember that there is not a Stated Meeting in April. We will have an All-Masonic Night on April 4. Included is this is a play put on by the Actors called- “Return to the Upper Room”. Very moving. Please RSVP for dinner if you are coming. Coming up in April is our Mini Trip to Walla Walla and Pendleton on April 21-22. Please call the office if you want to participate. Then the Shrine Circus on April 27,28 and 29. Gary and the Circus Committee have been working hard to make this happen. We are hearing from many non-Shriners that they are very glad to hear that the Circus is BACK!!! Once again, thanks to Gary and Marie to make this happen so we can continue “Stepping Up For Kids”. The Freedom Raffle tickets are out and being sold. Brad has big things planned for the night of Aug 4th. The Duck Race sales are quacking right along!!! Justin and Ron are working hard. A shout out to Ken Brueggeman for filling in at the last moment at the Big Horn Show. It was much appreciated. Scott Fiedler is working on Membership. Ask him about the Coasters he had made to distribute. Great idea!! Thanks Scott. Thinking outside the box!!! Don’t forget the “Spooktacular Auction” in October. If you have anything to donate, call Dave Campanella. It is shaping up to be a lot of fun. Steve Mossbarger and Jon Lind have revamped the Jewel of El Katif. See this issue for the details. Thanks to both of them for their efforts in this. It is a great program that fell by the wayside and is now up and running. I can’t wait to bestow the Jewel on deserving Nobles!! Dave Campanella and Justin Hughes are both home from Tampa after attending their respective seminars. They both said they learned a lot and are ready to share their information with us. Should be interesting. Thank you to everyone I forgot to mention in this article. I know you all work hard making El Katif shine! THANKS for all you do. So to show you all how much we appreciate your hard work and effort, we will have a Blues, Brews, and BBQ on August 11th at the SEC on us. Peace-Harmony-Fun as we continue “STEPPING UP FOR KIDS” in 2018!

The Recorder’s Ramblings... Ill Sir Mike Harper, PP

Nobles, our Potentate Jim Stewart told us when he became Potentate that he planned on a busy year, and guess what he wasn’t kidding. The Pote’s official visitations are well under way with many more to go. I know the Potentate and Divan appreciate the hospitality of each visitation. We have now completed our third Duck Race sales event at the Big Horn Show. Our Duck Race Chairman Ron Green appreciates all the help selling tickets. The next event will be the Home and Garden show from 13 through 15 of April. Schedule updates will be sent out through the Constant Contact system and Facebook. If you see an opening please call the office and your name will be added. The one thing I get out of selling tickets are all of the stories told to us about how we have helped a child that they know and the many people that thank us for what we do for kids. The March meeting had a Cold Sands ceremony done with perfection by the Actors for a new candidate. I hope our Pote gets out of rehab soon after the “Hillbilly Degree”. We have a minimum of three more that we will do at the May meeting. For any Hot or Cold Sands ceremonials the first line signer needs to make sure their candidate is informed of the time and dress code. Scott Fiedler, Membership Chairman is trying some new things to get out to potential candidates. I would like to mention on how much work it takes to open the front door to get new nobles. However, we are losing a few out the back door that are leaving the Shrine for one reason or another. I would like to have the first line signer stay engaged and be a mentor to the new candidate and make sure they are made welcome and get active. My feeling is an active Shriner is a happy Shriner. Guess what? Its CIRCUS time! April 27 thru 29. I would like to thank all of the Circus Daddy supporters for returning their tickets. These tickets are distributed to kids that cannot afford to go. We need help on Thursday, 26 April, with helping set up for the Circus. We also need 16 nobles per show to help with ticket taking and tent security. We will be sending out, through Constant Contact, schedules for each show. Please help us by filling in the schedule. After all, this is a Shrine Circus and it provides a lot of exposure by just being there wearing your fez and club or units colors. The Freedom Raffle is up and running. At the March meeting it was announced that Billy Eberly was the leading ticket seller thru 1 March. At each meeting we will announce the top ticket seller for that month and the leading sellers names will be put in a hat and the name drawn will win a special gun. Tickets are available in the Shrine Office. The parade season is now underway with the St. Patricks Day parade. The weather gods were very kind and gave us a very nice day. I think this is one of best St. Patties parades we have seen in quite a while. The streets were lined with screaming people acknowledging the Shriners. Thanks to all that participated. The next parade will be the Lilac Parade in May. More news to follow from our parade Chairman, Jerry Combs. The April meeting format will change up a bit with it being an All Masonic night. This will be an open meeting with dinner. A Constant Contact email will be sent out for reservations for dinner. The Longhorn will be providing a great Easter-style dinner. .......continued on page 4...... 3

......continued from page 3...... Our Potentate has put together a mini trip to the Walla Walla area for wine tasting. After a day of sampling we will head to Pendleton, Oregon, for an overnight stay at the Wild Horse Casino and Hotel. Please refer to the Wine Trip ad in this issue. We need RSVP’s ASAP. Our first Free Screening Clinic of the year will be Saturday, April 7th at the Shrine Hospital. It will be from 10 AM to 2 PM, no appointment is necessary. This is a good opportunity to reach out to your friends, families and community and find kids that need help.

James R. Westacott 08/16/1930 - 02/17/2018 Created a Shriner: 05/26/1967

The Jewel of El Katif is back up and running. OG Steve Mossbarger and Chief Rabban Jon Lind have been working on the guidelines for the program. The bottom line is that the Club and Units officers are responsible for reporting your time at all events. We are going thru the Duck Race schedule and recording your time spent and submitting them to the office. At the rate were going we should be ready to start awarding the Jewel within the next couple of months. Refer to the Jewel points summary in The Word. I would like to once again thank my office staff (Matt, Michelle, Esther and Ada) for their hard work to keep up with the busy schedule. Last but not least is the monthly Stated Meeting dinners. We are trying new caterers in an attempt to provide better meals. The goal is to provide better meals and keep the cost at $15. If anyone has any suggestions on dinner menus please let me know.

We are sorry to say that Nobles sometimes pass away without our acknowledgement. As they are Brothers, they are due the recognition of their passing. Please assist in notifying the Temple when a Noble expires. Phone 509-624-2762 or email OfficeAdmin@elkatif.org 4

April, aaaawwww Spring is here. I was so tired of the cold weather. Couldn’t ride my motorcycle. Oh well, back to our lesson about the Shrine. The Montreal Unit’s program concentrates on genetics and its relationship to bone and joint diseases, as well as studying joint diseases. Progress has already been achieved in the management of children with XLH X-linked hypophosphatemia) to prevent corrective bone surgery and other problems necessary in unmanaged children. Major advancements in the search for a cure for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis are under way in Montreal . In Philadelphia, the use of functional neuromuscular stimulation (FNS) is enabling children with spinal cord injuries have limited use of their arms and legs. The St. Louis Shriners Hospital’s Metabolic Reseaech Unit is improving the diagnosis and management of children representing over 25 different metabolic bone disorders. At the Portland Unit, the major thrust in research is to increase basic knowledge about the structure and function of connective tissue. At the Tampa Unit, investigations are concentrating on understanding the molecular basis of joint disease in children by studying the process of cartilage degradation and how it leads to degenerative joint changes. Shriners Hospitals bellieve that the hope for burned and crippled children in the future lies in their research today. Each day, they rededicate their efforts to the dream of eventually ending the crippling diseases and healing the burn injuries that afflict children world wide. Although some of the facts in this are somewhat out of date, it does give you clear picture of why and what we Nobles are working for. Take this information to your Blue Lodges and explain to you members why we are looking for new Nobles. We want to keep these Hospitals open and treating Kids. God bless you all and God bless our America!

Commander Tom Stegemen and his Lady Donna welcomed Illustrious Sir Jim and his First Lady Michele to our special dinner meeting at the Eagle’s Hall. A special evening of fun and fellowship was had by all. The Legion members joined a happy group of other Shriners taking part in the “St Paddy’s Day” Parade through Spokane. Did You Know? R.S.V.P. stands for a French phrase, "rĂŠpondez, s'il vous plaĂŽt," which means "please reply." The person sending the invitation would like you to tell him or her whether you accept or decline the invitation. That is, will you be coming to the event or not?

The Pote & The Mayor!

Ryan Leonard Greeting Nobles, It’s hard to believe, but as I write this spring is just around the corner! Sunshine, warmer temperatures, spending time outdoors. Looking forward to it! Were you able to figure out who March’s famous Actor is? He was born on April 3, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska. Some of his works include A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), Viva Zapata (1952), Julius Caesar (1953), On the Waterfront (1954), and he is perhaps best known for his performance in The Godfather (1972). The answer is………Noble Marlon Brando. And now, April’s famous actor (in this case actress). She was born on May 4, 1929 in Ixelles, a district of Brussels, Belgium. Do you think you know who this actress is? The answer will be revealed in April. She had an extensive career in both theater and film. Some of her film credits include Roman Holiday (1953), Sabrina (1954), War and Peace (1956), Funny Face (1957), The Nun’s Story (1959), Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961), The Children’s Hours (1961), Charade (1963), and Paris When It Sizzles (1964). She died on January 20, 1993. Do you think you know who this famous actress is? The answer will be revealed in May. The Actors were privileged to welcome a new Noble, Brother Jonas Parshall of Manito Lodge #246, to El Katif during a Cold Sands Ceremonial at our March stated meeting on Wednesday, March 7. Welcome aboard Noble Jonas! I encourage you to learn all that you can about the different Club and Units of the Shrine and get involved (although I think you would enjoy the Actors most). The Actors look forward to performing other Cold Sands Ceremonials, and of course we look forward to the Hot Sands on Saturday, November 10. As always, the Actors are always looking to add to our ranks! If you enjoy performing on stage, dressing up in costume, or would like to help with stage setup, then we want to hear from you! Please contact our president, Illustrious Sir Dale Hearn, at (509) 475-7636 or by email ppelkatif98@comcast.net. Fraternally Yours!

Bob Valentine Well, it’s officially Spring – get ready for April showers! Easter is early this year and strangely it coincides with April Fool’s Day. So, HAPPY EASTER to ALL Shriners and that’s NOT an April Fool joke. The Easter Bunny might bring you some “goodies”! A Screening Clinic is being held on April 7th at SHC Spokane – hours are 10 AM until 2 PM. Please help out that Saturday if possible ! Lots of activities to look forward to and lots of things to help out with and sign up to help with; like the Shrine Circus where needed, help out selling Duck Race Tickets, and for the Greeters (in particular) contacting potential Sponsors for the Fairways Lilac City 72 hole Golf Tourney. Contact either Ben Kruse or Herb Postelwait for the brochure and donor commitment form. AND don’t forget the Greeter’s Day at the Food Booth for the FAIR on September 13th – still some slots to fill for that evening shift. At the March Greeters meeting the Guest Speaker was the Spokane Shriners Hospital Director of Nutrition, Teresa Kafentz, who provided an informative presentation. The plan is to have various Department Heads rotate in making a presentation at our meetings to keep our members up to date on information to share with our Tour groups about the many departments within our Spokane Hospital. Administrator, Peter Brewer, joined in to discuss some hospital needs in Human Resources and extending our new patient outreach requested by Shriners International to Yakima, Walla Walla, places in Idaho, Montana and North to Alaska (specifically Fairbanks, AK). Healthcare is definitely changing for many hospitals to reach out to patients. CALLING ALL NOBLES --- BECOME a Greeter. If you want to be more active at the Spokane Hospital greeting our patients and their parents and providing Tours, we need YOU ! Just one week-day per month is all we need of your time from 7:30 to 2:00 PM – It is very rewarding to experience volunteering & interacting with the Kids We Help at the Hospital. Contact any of us to learn more or attend a Greeter’s meeting. *** See you at the next Stated Meeting & remember the Greeters Unit meeting is always the following Thursday @ Noon in the 5th floor auditorium of the Hospital. Get involved with US. Remember to visit www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/locations/Spokane for a comprehensive look at all the wonderful information about our great Spokane Hospital – there’s a wealth of information there to bring you the latest on what is happening!

John Robertson I missed getting the article in for February so we have a double double…. A few to many irons in the fire lately. Old man winter hasn’t left for the year yet but spring is just around the corner. We had a great showing for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Lots of folks riding the float and one of the biggest crowds I’ve seen in years for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. We didn’t even get rained on this time… We are always looking for assistance in getting all of the parade vehicles out more often spreading the word of Shriners International. We will be having our next meeting at Darcy’s which is located at the U-city across the parking lot from the new Spokane Valley City Hall. If you have questions and/ or would like to make reservations please call Denny Hogan at 217-3607. Our President Jeff Duty and our Vice President Scott Gardner have us getting ready to help with the parade season, Circus (3 blocks from where we will be having our meeting) selling Duck Race tickets and working the fair. We are having our Spring Screening Clinic on Saturday April 7th at the Shrine Hospital for Children from 10am-2pm. We need your assistance in getting fliers out to local schools, churches, child care facilities and any other options you think might be a viable location to bring awareness to our clinic. We had a great time at our Feb meeting with our Ladies as we celebrated Valentines. Our President had our friends “The Hillyard Belles” performed for us and our Vice President Scott gave a toast to our Ladies. We handed out Roses and had a raffle for or ladies to show our appreciation for their support. Our March meeting was well attended as we hosted our Illustrious Sir Jim and Lady Michele as well as the Divan in attendance for their Official Visit. Ill. Sir Jim, Lady Michele, or Liaison Eric and the Divan gave us a rundown of all the special events that are taking place this spring- early fall. Make sure to watch the Word for details and call the office to get signed up for Constant Contact. The success of El Katif and these events depends upon the involvement of the Nobility, our families and friends. Many hands make light work of heavy loads and work. Remember to say Thank you to those who help us and I Love you to our Ladies and family. We would not be able to do all that we do without their constant efforts of reminding us that we are Shrine Masons and their support. Be kind to one another and remember that we all meet on the level.

John Robertson Parade season is upon us with the St Patrick’s Day parade this past weekend. We are looking for volunteers to get out and help keep the Red Caddie on the road. What a great time to get out and enjoy the comradery of your fellow Nobles spreading the word about Shrine Hospital for Children right here in Spokane and about having fun with the community along the parade route.

14

Shriners International has a new slogan “I am committed, Are you?” Here is your chance to show you are willing to “Step Up for Kids” and have some fun in doing it. Our Illustrious Sir Jim and his Lady Michele would truly appreciate all of us getting out and enjoying the fun of being in a parade, riding the floats and driving the cars in order to spur more young men into asking about becoming a Shrine Mason. We look forward to hearing from you and if you would like to help clean up the Red Caddie and Fez, make sure she is road worthy for the parades please call Noble John Robertson at 509-5905441 for details and possibly setting up a cleanup party.

The Jewel of El Katif Membership Program (Updated)

The purpose of the Jewel of El Katif Shrine (Jewel) is to provide a means of recognizing and rewarding those Nobles for their continuing support of El Katif Shrine and the Shriners Hospital for Children. The goal of the point system is to recognize the hard work and dedication of those Nobles that volunteer their time, resources and services in support of El Katif Shrine and the Shriners Hospital for Children. Points are awarded to encourage membership activity in the fraternity and will credit those Nobles who participate in support of the Temple and the Hospitals. The Noble accumulating points up to and beyond 500 will be eligible for the Jewel of El Katif. Rules, Requirements, and Point System: •The Club/Unit Secretary or Event/Project Chairman (if not a Club/Unit activity) is responsible for providing sign-in sheets for attending nobles. • The sheet is to include the Nobles Name and Member Number for attendance/participation during the event. •Nobles are to sign-in at the event/function. All sign-in sheets are then considered official records and must be preserved. •The collected point data is then transferred to the Temple Recorder Form and forwarded to the Club/Unit President for verification and then Emailed/submitted to the Temple Recorder no later then the first day of each month. The Temple Recorder is the keeper of the master points record. •Monthly point submissions to the Temple Recorder via email and/or hardcopy reports are the only valid forms of submission. If the report is emailed the sending Club/Unit President or Event/Project Chairman may use their emails’ digital signature as validation. •An updated monthly “points earned” Master Record Document will be available for review at each stated meeting. {At sign-in table} •The potentate will personally recognize each Noble that achieves the required 500 points.

Doug Warnock Corned beef and cabbage with all the “trimmings” was the order of the day at Blue Mt. Shrine Club’s March 16th meeting, which commemorated St. Patrick’s Day. Chef Marty Bray, Blue Mt. Shrine Club’s long time chef, has established a great reputation among El Katif’s Divan members, in addition to local Shriners, for the delicious meals he serves. Noble President Gerald Taylor updated Blue Mt. Shriners and their Ladies on the progress of a revenue generating plan to support the Spokane Shriners Hospital for Children. This would be from Walla Walla Valley wine sales. The plan is still in the development stage, but Noble President Taylor is working closely with local people in the wine industry. Noble Roger Nelson, Blue Mt. Club’s liaison of Potentate Jim Stewart’s Divan, spoke about El Katif’s April activities. He also referred to the Shrine Ladies Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, March 24 at the Shrine Event Center in Spokane. The 63rd El Katif Shrine Circus will be on April 27, 28 and 29 across from the University City Mall at 10210 E. Sprague Ave, in the City of Spokane Valley, WA. Noble Jim Wood, Divan member from Blue Mt. Shrine, spoke about the Potentate’s Mini-Trip to the Walla Walla Valley on April 21 and 22 to visit several wineries and the Wild Horse Casino. Walla Walla Shriners are welcome to join the tour group after it reaches Walla Walla, but need to sign up with the Divan ahead of time. Blue Mt. Shriners are always interested in the hospital and we recently obtained this report: The Urgent Pediatric Fracture Clinic at Shriners Hospital for Children in Spokane recently saw its 5,000th patient. This clinic is only been in operation for about four years. “The fracture clinic was started to allow immediate access to the hospital’s orthopedic medical staff,” reports Bryran Tompkins, M.D. “Our referring providers appreciate the easy access for their patients. Our families appreciate the expedited specialty care.” Dr. Tompkins reports that each year since its inception, the clinic has experienced a 20 to 30 % increase in the volume of young fracture patients. The fracture clinic continues to serve a real need in the area by providing specialty care. Noble President Taylor reminded Nobles and Ladies that in April the club would return to its normal meeting schedule and gather on the second Friday of the month, April 13.

Kurt Kimberling, PP March saw us get inundated in snow, rain, and the hope that Spring would eventually arrive. The March Stated Meeting was eventful in that our Potentate Ill Sir Jim was initiated into the Moonies as only we can do. We were well represented as Ill Sir Jim received his instructions, Vows, and sacred elixir! Being a pharmacist by trade Ill Sir Jim immediately knew that being a Moonie was going to be a challenge. Also during the Stated Meeting one of our own, Ill Sir John Robertson was presented with a new and unique award which celebrated his numerous “Good Guy” actions, way to go John! Our Annual St Patricks’ Day Parade participation went well as the RV, Revenuer, and the ’35 all fired up and performed flawlessly! There is a saying, “It never rains on a Shriner Parade!” Fortunately 2018 up held that tradition, as in some years past it has misted mightily, but Moonies tend make their own “Sun Shine”. With the Parade season officially started it’s now time to get busy and get behind our Pres Jim and his programs. The El Katif Circus is this month, I’m sure Mike will give us some incite as to how we can help. Participation is the key to have fun and make us stronger. I know that it seems early in the season but working the Moonie Booth is right around the corner. It will be here before anyone notices. Reserve the Fair Dates in your calendars and let’s get this staffed early! Our monthly meetings have been supremely successful with the varying themes of dinner. The inclusion of our families at these events is what makes our Club as strong and productive as it is. Please remember to RSVP to Chris for dinners. Randy and Jill are tremendously appreciative for all the prayers, compassion, concern, and meals that everybody has bestowed upon their family during this time. Little Levi only has 14 more years before he becomes a Moonie! May all your days be Circus DAYS!

Jeff Meyer Warm Greetings from the Columbia Basin Shrine Club! We conducted our stated meeting on Friday March 2nd at our clubhouse in Pasco, WA. Honored Guests in attendance included Past Potentate, Illustrious Sir, Andy Anderson and his Lady Mary Lynn. We were also blessed with the attendance of Assistant Rabban, Dave Campenella and his Lady Brenda. Dinner was catered by Dickey’s BBQ and is described as being “absolutely delicious!” President Robert Brockman and Lady Karen embellished our dining area with beautiful green center pieces and decorations, in honor of Saint Patrick’s Day. Noble Campenella provided a very interesting overview of the Imperial Shrine, having attended a meeting with them recently in Idaho. Illustrious Sir Andy Anderson provided an update on the hospital. With nice weather just around the corner, our club is preparing for another busy parade season, screening clinics and the Circus in April. Until our next report, here’s to an early spring and “May the Luck of the Irish Be with you!”

Thank you!

Gary Van Dyke Meeting was held at the Oakesdale Masonic Lodge. The feast was fit for a king, with delicious ham, mashed potatoes with milk gravy, green beans, rolls and dessert of ice cream, brownies and gingerbread cookies. Hospitality was great with 32 Nobles and their ladies. President Jeff Wood introduced his Lady Chris and thanked everyone for coming. Jeff stated the RSVP’s were good and much appreciated. Future meetings will be located at the Pullman’s Hill Top Motel in April, and Malden Masonic Hall in May, with the final meeting June, 2018 at Schmuck Park, with Divan, in Colfax, Washington. Remember, the meeting including the Divan, is at Schmuck Park in Colfax, Washington and not in April at Hill Top. We then adjourn for the summer until Fair time in September. Jeff stated he met with Harrison Electric to see if the fair Pizza oven could be fixed. The middle oven is not working properly. Harrison recommended we obtain someone who is familiar with such ovens. Glenn Edgemon reported on the Basketball Program stating we have to date $18,907 in ad sales and District 7-2B program sales. $140 was just turned in for program sales at District 9-1B tournaments for a total $19,047. Printing cost were $8,085 for net income to date of $10,962. Liaison Gary Wood reported on the following: St Patty parade is the 17th of March, Shrine Ladies Super Indoor Sidewalk Sale and Vendors March 24 9am to 4pm., Pote’s Mini Trip to Walla Walla April 21- 22 wine tasting, Circus April 27 - 29 Spokane Valley, Lilac Festival will be May 19, Sunday May 20 Klink’s Fishing Derby, June 23 - 24 Fishing Derby at Clear Lake (Gary Wood’s property). Gary Van Dyke discussed the Shrine Circus with 7 events starting Friday at 3pm and 7pm, Saturday at 11am, 3pm and 7pm and Sunday at 1pm and 5pm. See paragraph above for dates. Help will be needed at all events. Please call Shrine Office 509-624-2762 to schedule which event or events you can help. Levi Kimberling report was given. A basket was passed for donations. WCSC decided to donate an additional $500.00. Any additional donations privately, contact Jim Tourtillotte @ jimturtle@comcast. net.

Brad Wood Greetings from the sunny Okanogan! We have come out of hibernation and are gearing up for another successful year of fun, fellowship and more importantly raising funds for the kids. The meeting was brought to order by our President Noble Gordie Cockle and after the flag salute a moment of silence was observed for our beloved noble Eugene Fritz who passed away this winter. Eugene was a fixture in his clown outfits at all the parades throughout the valley for years. Rest in peace, brother! A report was given on the condition of two Noble’s relatives and how we might help them out financially as well as with our prayers. We did some preliminary planning for our upcoming parades and fairs, and then our new Liaison Justin Hughes gave his report. Justin seems like a real decent fellow…of course he is, he’s from Oroville. He stressed the importance of being both a good Mason and Shriner and to stay involved in our Blue Lodge too! We discussed the date when the Divan will visit as well as our annual golf outing. Noble Gary Wood stated he was going to “play” again…..heaven help us! I guess we should consider starting a lot earlier. Have a great spring!

George Rotas aka Jingles

Well we fine tuned our skit, got our wigs all combed out, dusted off our clown shoes, and last but not least, our makeup kits restocked. Wow that took a lot to say. We are off and running! We had our first parade, it was the St. Pats, there were a few of us in makeup, we had fun doing high fives and seeing all the kids on the parade route. Now down the road we will be in full swing for parade season, we can ride the train or any other float. So let’s support our Potentate and step up for kids. Well that’s about it for now. So till next month may all your days be circus days!

Dan Bryant Those to the south of us may be getting ready for spring, however we are still waiting for the snow to melt away. Our meeting was held at the Kettle Falls Lodge. Dinner of Corned Beef and Cabbage was prepared by Noble Jack Ritchie. Yum Yum! Our first parade will be at Trail BC on May 12. Line up at 10am. We always need drivers. Duck Ticket sellers are still needed for Chewelah. We also need Nobles and Ladies to man the Colville Fair Gates. We voted to make a donation to the Shrine Hospital Transportation fund. At our April 13, meeting will welcome the Potentate and his Divan, place to be announced soon. 24

Ada Anderson Welcome to the month of April 2018!

Once I saw the Easter Bunny, Come hop, hop, hop. So I cried, “Dear Bunny, Will you stop, stop, stop?” I ran to the window To say, “how do you do?” But he shook his fluffy tail, And said, “Happy Easter to YOU!” April 7, 2018 we had our installation of officers at the Manito Masonic Temple. The installation was open to the public and we had a large crowd for the installation. A reception for all followed in the Temple Dining room. On April 21, 2018 El Karnak Temple No. 6 will have a table at the Finders/Keepers Spring Fling sponsored by Trinity Court No.. 51,, Order of the Amaranth. We will have fabric to sell and other assorted items. The Spring Fling will be held at the Millwood Masonic Center at 3219 North Argonne Road, Millwood. The sale will run from 9 am to 3 pm. Hope to see everyone there. On Friday, October 26, 2018 our Supreme Queen will be in Spokane and visit the Shriners Hospital for Children. On Saturday, October 27, 2018, the Supreme Queen will have her Official Visit to El Karnak Temple No. 6, Daughters of the Nile, and it will include a luncheon in her honor, a visit from the Potentate of El Katif Shrine, Ills Sir Jim Stewart and First Lady Michele and then the ceremonial at 1 pm.
