Breakfast over Books & Chick-Fil-A Cow
The Chick-Fil-A Cow will Come to Read! Breakfast over Books is a free “book club”. This is the program’s 8th year! April’s book is Found by Patricia Haddix. The meeting date is in April.

Tutors Continue to Offer Great Services to Students!
Shades Valley High School Beta Club Members come Tuesdays and Thursdays to the library for tutoring in the following subjects: Math, Science, English, Social Studies,
Test Studying, Organizing Notebooks. This service is just as important to our students as it is to the tutors. They get service hours for tutoring. Another great bonus is that former IMS students serve as tutors and they know how to help students succeed.
Physicals Athletic physicals will continue on April 8th. Students who previously signed up only please.
UAB Girls in Science and Engineering Join UAB for the 4th annual Girls in Science and Engineering Day on Saturday, April 12. Register online between March 8 and March 29 at www.uab.edu/girlsinscience.
GEMS Tryouts Any 6th or 7th grade girls who would like to try out for the dance team needs to sign up with Ms. Carter or Ms. Brown. A mandatory parent meeting will be held on Thursday, April 10, at 5:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tryouts will take place
over several days from April 14 to April 18 from 3:15 to 4:30. You must have a completed physical in order to try out. Questions? E-mail Ms. Carter for more information at email@example.com.
Volleyball Tryouts Volleyball tryouts will be held April 8th through 10th from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m. Students must have an upto-date physical on file in order to try out. See Ms. Johnson for more information.

Next Book Fair, Band and Art Night! A Night of Fine Arts will take place on Tuesday, April 15, from 5:30 to 6:30 all over the school. Please join us as we peruse the artwork and listen to wonderful music presented by the band along with other offerings at the school! The Book Fair will also be open from 5:30 to 6:30. National Poetry Month and Winners! Congratulations to the following students from Mrs. Fason's class for placing in the Jacksonville State University Writing Contest! Rachel Davis- 1st place in poem portion with "In the Darkness" Kara Tarabishy- 3rd place in poem portion with "Insanity"
Adrianne Glover- 2nd place in short story portion with "Imagining the Holocaust" Lorynn Saxton- 3rd place in short story portion with "The Love Story" . The winners will travel to Jacksonville State University on April 10 to hear a special presentation.
