The IMS National Junior Honor Society is turning the school pink by asking students to purchase t-shirts and wear them on October 29th in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. The t-shirts are $9 and can be purchased from the sponsor Mrs. Kristin Williams, reading interventionist, in the cafeteria.

Breakfast over Books Counting by 7s book club meeting date is scheduled for November 7th. The book is a bit longer than the typical books chosen for Breakfast over Books, so students have needed additional reading time. If your student has checked it

out, please be sure they read every night and turn it in quickly for other students. November’s book is Tales from the Crypt: Diary of a Dead Kid. The meeting date is November 28 at 7:25.

Halloween Dance:

Irondale Number Crunchers will compete at the Jefferson County Math tournament on November 2. All math team members should report to Clay Chalkville Middle School by 8:00.

On October 29th the student council will host a Halloween dance from 5:30 to 7:00 in the cafeteria. Cost to attend is $3.00.

FBLA March of Dimes Auburn/Alabama Event

FBLA will be conducting our yearly Irondale for the March of Dimes for premature babies the week of November 1822. Students in 1st and 3rd periods will be donating money in those classes each day. 1st period is for 8th grade classes, 3rd period will be for 6th and 7th

grades. Students will write their names on an Auburn or Alabama card to be posted in the main hallway. We will also post the results each day of the winning class and the winning team. We are looking forward to this worthy cause to help in

Reading Contest The Be a Champion and Read Contest is in its 3rd year.

Contest ends October 27th

Students must read six books, get a parent’s or guardian’s signature and turn in the form to the library.

Social Studies Classes to Host a Map A

Giant Map

Giant Travelling Map will be in on November 4th and 5th, Monday and Tuesday for Social Studies activities.

Science Fundraiser Students in all science classes are selling items from Uncle Jerry T’s catalog. The catalog features t-shirts, candles, storage containers, bags, phone cases and other items for a variety of prices. The money raised will be used to purchase items for the science department.
