Dance and Drama Workshops in April With performances still on hold until late June, the Headgate Theatre is hoping to be able to re-open in April for the dance and drama workshops that run each week. Be they in the theatre studio or via Zoom these have been essential for some in a difficult time. KATS (Kids Acting and Theatre Skills) is a youth theatre company, originally founded in 1985 and based at the Headgate since the building was opened in 2002. With a strong emphasis on fun, their performances take place at the theatre and the group offer ‘come and try’ sessions. The company is led by Sarah Young, who has appeared in numerous local productions. “We are a thriving and lively drama group for keen youngsters from the age of 6. We can’t wait to be back doing what we love best and look forward to seeing everyone very soon!”

Donovans Academy of Performing Arts. Established in 1996, the school is for children and young adults wishing to learn, perform and grow as individuals and performers. The Principal of the Academy is Sarah Dunn, a performer, choreographer and qualified teacher. “We have always tried to go above and beyond to ensure the students get the best possible training and have continued lessons via Zoom. We cherish the space and when the universe throws moments like this year, it allows us to value the wonderful space we do have.”

Little Stars Theatre Workshops The sessions are fun and exciting, for children of all abilities. They focus on having fun and building confidence, believing this will make the other skills easier to learn. Vicki Condron, Principal, said “We love being at the Headgate Theatre. It’s absolutely fantastic.”

Ilaz Dance Company was established in 2004 offering various classes to children and adults. The company is completely enjoyment and performance based and while they don’t participate in exams or competitions, students still work to a high standard. Zoe Insull, owner and Director, said “The students and I are so excited to get back into the studio and continue to do what we love! We have missed dancing so much and we will be making up for lost time, performing whenever we can and working hard towards our rescheduled annual show in November 2021.”

Dynamite School of Dance. Established in 2010 by Sarah Harding and specialising in Freestyle Dance. Students train for opportunities including events such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone and the Rugby League Champions Cup at Wembley, as well as dance competitions and festivals across the country. Sarah is a qualified teacher. “We are very eager to reunite and return. It provides a safe place so every dancer of all ages can release and express themselves through movement to music, dancing from the heart.”

Boxford Farms launches new organic “Gro” Fertiliser L

ocal family business, Boxford (Suffolk) Farms, has won a number of international and regional environmental awards for its sustainable energy production. The AD plant at Boxford Farms uses organic bi products from fruit growing, fruit processing and maize and the fermentation process produces a biogas which is converted into heat and power for the farms and hotel. The residual “digestate” contains essential macro and micro nutrients which are immensely beneficial to soil, and has been used for several years as a rich, sustainable feed for the company’s fruit orchards and golf courses. “Gro” has now been launched by Boxford Farms as a 100% natural, chemical-free fertiliser and soil improver which has been developed from

this rich digestate, and dried into easy-touse granules. The product has been awarded Organic-Approved status by the Soil Association and is 100% plant-based and vegan friendly.

Peter Osborne, Commercial Director of Boxford Farms said, “We are really excited about the future of Gro as we believe it is fulfilling an increasing demand for the use of natural, chemical-free products that don’t harm the planet. It is also very much a project that reflects our commitment as a business to develop sustainable products that are kind to the environment - and we have had the advantage of seeing the huge benefits of Gro first hand by using it on our own crops.” “Gro” can be used either as a base or top dressing and ensures healthy growth for all shrubs, flowers, fruits, vegetables and lawns. “Gro” is being offered at an introductory price of £9.99 per 5kg bag in Pippin Store at Stoke by Nayland Hotel. Now is the perfect time to give your vegetables, shrubs and lawns a big spring boost with this fantastic 100% natural, locallyproduced, nutritious fertiliser – so just call in to Pippin any day of the week and pick up a bag.

We love all things vintage, retro, quirky and upcycled from furniture and clothes through painting and frames to vinyl and childrens toys and games and absolutely everything in between. 22
