WHAT IS IT? Feminist City Guides spotlight female-run businesses, restaurants, hotels, and non-profit organizations around the globe that aid local women. Our guides inspire travelers to support women.

HOW DOES IT WORK? Feminist City Guides leverage a custom-developed map plug-in created by our in-house tech team.   

HOW WILL IT EVOLVE? Our Feminist City Guides exist online and in our magazine. We will be expanding into bookable experiences tied to our guides, allowing readers to book feminist walking tours and trips while traveling.

WHY DOES IT MATTER? Most mainstream travel magazines are founded and/or edited by men despite women being a major force in the travel industry. Unearth Women magazine speaks to the needs of female travelers in a way current magazines do not.

WOMEN ARE CONNECTING OFFLINE There has been a 230% increase in the number of women-only travel companies in past six years. The average adventure traveler is not a 28-year old male, but a 47-year-old female. Women collectively spend upwards of $200 million a year on women-only group trips. Women make 92% of online travel booking purchases. Unearth Women is creating unique offline travel opportunities for women.

BESPOKE TRAVEL EXPERIENCES OVERVIEW In 2019, Unearth Women partnered with boutique female-owned tour companies to co-brand trips around-the-world, from Mozambique to Argentina. In 2020, Unearth Women will be launching an in-house group trip to Cartagena, Colombia with a focus on supporting women.Â

Nikki is the Editor-in-Chief and Co-Founder of Unearth Women. Previously, Nikki worked as Places Editor of Atlas Obscura, Travel Editor of Culture Trip, Digital Marketing Manager of FOOD & WINE magazine, and as a freelance journalist. Nikki has spoken at various travel conferences including the Women’s Travel Fest, Women in Travel Summit, New York Times Travel Show, New York Travel Fest and as a guest commentator on Cheddar News TV and NPR Weekend Edition.Â

Elise is Publisher and Co-Founder of Unearth Women. As Publisher, Elise is tasked with overseeing business development of the company, the production of the print magazine, and managing the finances of the company. Formerly, Elise worked as the Membership Director for a public radio station in Aspen, Colorado where she was responsible for the acquisition of over one million dollars in individual contributions, donor relations and membership maintenance, marketing, and event planning.

Kelly is the Co-founder of Unearth Women. A respected entrepreneur in the travel space, Kelly is also the Founder of Go! Girl Guides, the Women's Travel Fest, and Damesly, a boutique tour agency for professional women. In 2019, Kelly was named Forbes 30 most powerful women in travel.
