FIRM INTRODUCTION Elevar Design Group, established in 1967, (formerly SFA Architects, PDT Architects and Roth Partnership) is headquartered in Cincinnati, OH with satellite offices in Dayton, OH, Cleveland, OH, and Lexington, KY. Our roots are planted in the Tri-State region, but our projects reach around the country. Elevar Design Group serves in both the public and private sectors, with a deep rooted understanding of how to work with all types of clients. We offer an array of services designed around our customers’ expectations and business demands. From strategic planning and community engagement services to professional planning, programming, architecture, engineering and interior design services, to project management, construction administration, and institutional and operational research, Elevar leads the way from inception to completion. Elevar Design Group is an EDGE certified firm with the State of Ohio and is the largest minority-owned professional design firm operating in the City of Cincinnati. Elevar is also involved in the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Minority Business Partnership which is an economic development initiative that focuses on leveraging minority assets to strengthen the economy. Our firm was founded on the premise that each client deserves a high degree of personal service, and each project the search to find the “right” design solution, both artistically, and technically. As an Architect and an Engineer, our patron, Emilio Fernandez, exemplified the modern Master-Architect philosophy of eminent responsibility for the “whole” solution, and for the life of the building. These beliefs permeate our culture and translate into our work. Throughout our history, Elevar has responded promptly and efficiently to client needs with quality services and innovative, practical design solutions. Our continuing success has been achieved through our personal commitment and professional abilities. Our firm grew from humble beginnings into what is now a staff of more than 80 employees. This growth occurred organically as SFA continued to design in new markets and acquire new clients. The combination of experienced, long-associated members working with knowledgeable younger members offering fresh, innovative ideas and approaches have lent to a continued focus on relevancy in the design world. No matter the type of client, we know that one thing is constant: our clients want a greater value for the investments they make in their facilities. Elevar delivers just that. We create beautiful spaces that take user experience to a higher level. We continuously strive for the best solutions: timeless design that is responsive to change with optimal performance for cost. We believe there is a design for every need, but we avoid the predictable, cookie-cutter response and instead differentiate our product to always elevate our client’s game.

The CEO of Elevar Design Group, Tom Fernandez is responsible for the overall vision and innovation of the firm. He facilitates design direction and ensures that his staff is equipped to provide the best solutions to clients. Since assuming executive leadership of the firm in the late 1980’s, Tom was instrumental in growing the staff into the multi-disciplined team of specialized designers it is today.

Kim Patton serves as President of Elevar Design Group, guiding the design staff in daily operations and profitability. Kim’s energy and innovation has been the key to his successful career which has spanned nearly 30 years in many different markets. An Architect by trade, his vast experience has influenced his ability to grow Elevar’s staff and to provide clients with costeffective and creative solutions.

Greg Otis champions strategic initiatives for Elevar Design Group. Greg’s experience and passion for the built environment influences both his internal organizational leadership and external strategic plans. A natural planner and facilitator, Greg has the proven ability to yield positive change for employees and clients alike. Greg’s acumen is based on clear communication and innovative planning.

Tony Lozier has more than 43 years of experience in MEP Engineering. As Principal of Elevar’s MEP team, he directs all engineering services and ensures the highest quality for clients. His widespread experience has served as an asset to many of Elevar’s projects, as Tony has the ability to lead the engineering team toward the best solutions for client projects.

Bob Zielasko has more than 30 years of experience in commercial design including corporate headquarters, hospitality, and mixed-use projects. Having worked with many high profile developers, Bob has the proven ability to collaborate with his clients. Bob has provided solutions that have solved a great deal of operational and cost issues for his clients.

Matthew King manages multiple government IDIQ contracts for Elevar, guiding the team in the successful delivery of task orders. With nearly 20 years of experience, Matthew has gained the knowledge needed to oversee all aspects of a project with the highest of standards. His responsibilities also include field inspections and coordination meetings during the construction phase to ensure a project meets all of the goals set in the very beginning stages of design.

Kenton County Administration Building Covington, KY

Our team is renovating the historic Bavarian Brewery facility, built in 1870, into the new County administration building. The existing space for the County was lacking adequate operational and parking space. After a long and complicated process, the County decided on the Bavarian Brewery site as their new home. This design/build project will house all of the County government under one roof. The tower from the brewery will remain and a new five-story office building will be connected with a pedestrian bridge.


Landings Park Cincinnati, OH

Landings Park is a new four story office building which is part of the Landings at Blue Ash, also designed by our team. The Landings of Blue Ash is designed as a planned office community consisting of three Class “A�, five-story buildings that total nearly 540,000 SF. Landings Park, the newest building, is designed to match the existing five-story buildings on the property. However, the interiors of the new Landings Park were designed with fresh and updated finishings. This new building provides much needed office space for the City of Blue Ash, which is home to fast-growing companies that are running out of space.


Trustaff Headquarters Blue Ash, OH

As a result of Trustaff’s rapid growth over the last decade, the company was in dire need of new space that reflected their company culture, vision, and values. The new interior corporate space was to visually echo the company’s guiding principle: to do things differently. The energizing new office is equipped with open work space, a game room, a salon, state-of-the-art conference rooms, and a full kitchen and commons area. Scope of work for the project included reconfiguration of office spaces, new paint and environmental graphics including wayfinding and signage.


Midland Headquarters Cincinnati, OH

Originally designed by our team, a subsequent 5-story office expansion to the headquarters was performed connecting two office towers. The space provides room for employee meetings and gatherings, and includes a cafĂŠ, A/V control center, and a stage complete with a podium. A Conference Center addition was built concurrently with the 5-story office expansion.


Liberty Tower Dayton, OH

Liberty Tower is a historical landmark in Downtown Dayton. This art deco, 1930’s high rise is home to PDT Architects’ office amongst a long list of other office tenants. Our firm performed renovations and tenant improvements for the PDT space, with special care taken to preserve the historical elements of the building. We also performed studies for the building’s lobby space, analyzing mixed-use possibilities for the two-story lobby renovation. In an effort to help secure leased space, our team worked with the building owners to provide tenant improvement documents to help define feasibility of corporate, retail, food service, and commercial opportunities.


NewPage Headquarters Miamisburg, OH

The building site was selected due to the surrounding natural environment, existing retention pond, space for walking trails, and proximity to public transportation. This 75,000 square foot, four-story building includes a number of features that promote the health of both the environment and company employees.


Melink Headquarters Cincinnati, OH

The new Melink headquarters is located on a five-acre plot of land in Clermont County, Ohio. Designed as a “campus environment,� the building consolidates offices, manufacturing, research and development labs, a conference center, testing areas and a number of training rooms in a horseshoe configuration around a common courtyard. This high-performance building uses energy and conservation practices that are at the forefront of the green-building movement. In 2010, it was recognized as the first building in Ohio to achieve LEED Platinum certification by the USGBC.


American Book Building Cincinnati, OH

Our team completed an interior finish remodel of the fourth floor in the iconic American Book Building, located in Downtown, Cincinnati. Programming this updated space, we incorporated existing building standards along with new colors for executive offices and team collaboration areas. The furniture for the project is new, utilizing a flexible modular system with height adjustable desks and mobile storage. The project scope also included upgraded existing restrooms to meet ADA requirements and removal of outdated sprinkler systems.


United States Environmental Protection Agency IDIQ Various Locations throughout the US

We have been working with the United State Environmental Protection Agency for the past twenty years under multiple Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) work order contracts. Projects have ranged in size and scope, from $50,000 to $16,000,000 and have included assessments, studies, master planning, and design for numerous renovations and additions to existing facilities. The types of projects include alterations and modifications to existing facilities, HVAC system modifications, design of fire protection and detection systems, and electrical distribution system studies, evaluations and modifications.


AWBERC Annex Addition Cincinnati, OH

Our team designed two annex buildings to accommodate the US EPA’s staff . The design of the additions to the Andrew W. Breidenbach Environmental Research Center included balancing operations of a fully occupied building with completely new construction. The program called for office space for fifty-three staff members including conference rooms, data storage and computer rooms, high density file storage and centralized security areas including the Home Land Security Offices. The offices are clustered around a three story atrium. The addition now serves as the employee’s main entrance into the complex and increased the increases the overall size of the facility by 78,000 sf.
