Editorial Bienvenido al número de noviembre de The Resident. Ahora que los relojes se han atrasado, está empezando a hacer algo de frío, aunque seguimos disfrutando de preciosos días sol, y somos afortunados ya que la palabra invierno no despierta tanto temor aquí en la Costa como para aquellos que viven más al norte.

Por supuesto, al llegar noviembre, mucha gente empieza a pensar en las Navidades, demasiado pronto en mi opinión, ¡aunque prometo no ser un Grinch! Publicaremos información sobre eventos festivos y actividades para estas Navidades en el sitio web del The Resident en www.theresident.eu y en nuestra página de Facebook, @TheResident.Spain.

Además, con la Navidad a la vuelta de la esquina, también debemos pensar en aquellos que son menos afortunados.

La Duquesa Charitable Society of Saint George ha lanzado su Christmas Gift Appeal anual, para recaudar dinero para proporcionar regalos a los niños más desfavorecidos de Manilva, Casares y Estepona. Disfrutaremos de varios eventos, noches de trivial, y iniciativas individuales para la recaudación de fondos incluyendo a Mike Burnett y su impresionante barba, que cobrará 10 euros al día para que la gente elija un esquema de color para sus bigotes. Hasta ahora, ha llevado rosa y purpurina, negro y rojo y una atrevida impresión de leopardo. Para obtener más información sobre la campaña, lee las páginas de Saint George de esta edición, donde también podrás conocer el trabajo que esta organización benéfica ha realizado en las últimas semanas.

Welcome to the November issue of The Resident. Well now that the clocks have gone back, it’s beginning to cool down although we’re still enjoying some beautiful sunny days, and we are fortunate that the word winter doesn’t hold the same kind of dread here on the Costa as it does for those living in points further North.

Of course as soon as November arrives many people turn their thoughts to Christmas, far too early in my opinion, but I promise not to be a Grinch! We will be publishing details of festive events and activities on The Resident website at www.theresident.eu as well as on our Facebook page @TheResident.Spain.

Also with Christmas fast approaching we should also turn our thoughts to those less fortunate. The Duquesa Charitable Society of Saint George has launched its annual Christmas Gift Appeal, raising money to provide gift bags to disadvantaged children in Manilva, Casares and Estepona. There are a number of events, quiz nights, as well as individual fundraising initiatives including the impressively bearded Mike Burnett who is charging 10 euros a day for people to pick a colour scheme for his whiskers! Up to now he has sported pink and glitter, black and red and a very fetching leopard print. For more information about the campaign read the Saint George Charity pages in this edition, where you can also read about the latest work this local charity has been engaged in over recent weeks.

44º Certamen Internacional de Arte de Gibraltar 2017 44th Gibraltar International Art El Certamen Internacional de Exhibition 2017 Arte de Gibraltar (Gibraltar International Art Exhibition), organizado por el Servicio Cultural de Gibraltar (Gibraltar Cultural Services) para el Ministerio de Cultura, se celebrará en la Galería Gustavo Bacarisas. Artistas de Gibraltar, Grecia y España han presentado un total de 212 obras.

Tim Shaw, miembro de la Royal Academy of Arts of London, fue el encargado de adjudicar los premios. El ganador, Jaime Velázquez Sánchez

Sánchez (Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz), comenta que la obra que le ha valido el primer premio forma parte de un proyecto artístico más amplio en el que trata de reflejar “los problemas de España, Europa y el mundo”. “Es una queja, por eso mi pintura es tan oscura”, comenta.

Es la segunda vez que resulta premiado en el certamen, ya que el año pasado obtuvo el segundo premio. ““Estoy muy agradecido a Gibraltar, no solo personalmente, sino también por todas

las oportunidades que brinda a los artistas, locales e internacionales. Valoro mucho la forma detallista en la que se promueve el arte con concursos, exposiciones y todo tipo de iniciativas a lo largo del año para dar a conocer la obra de autores noveles y veteranos”.

La exposición estará abierta al público hasta el sábado 18 de noviembre de 2017, con horario de 10:30 a 18:30 h entre semana y de 10:30 a 13:30 h los sábados.

La entrada es gratuita.

Casares

La Senda Litoral de Casares será una realidad en 2018 La intención de Diputación Provincial y Ayuntamiento de Casares es que el próximo año, 2018, se acometan los tres proyectos de Senda Litoral previstos en el municipio de Casares.

Según el calendario de trabajo elaborado en la reunión ayer por los responsables de ambas administraciones, la previsión es que a principio del próximo año pueda iniciarse el primero de los proyectos, el tramo comprendido entre el límite de Casares con Estepona y Arroyo de la Jordana, con un coste de 260.000 euros.

Junto a este proyecto el Ayuntamiento está a la espera de la autorización necesaria por parte de la Delegación Territorial de la Consejería de Medio Ambiente, que tiene la competencia en cuencas hidrográficas, para acometer la pasarela sobre el arroyo de la Jordana.

Este proyecto, como explica el concejal de Infraestructuras, Guzmán Ahumada, ha sido rescatado del Plan Qualifica y va a ser supervisado por los técnicos de Diputación para poder acometerlo dentro de la Senda Litoral en cuanto se tenga el permiso de la JJAA.

Torre de la Sal y Arroyo la Parrilla El otro tramo de Senda Litoral, el comprendido entre la Torre de la Sal y Arroyo la Parrilla, cuenta ya con todos los permisos de la Consejería de Medio Ambiente, por lo que actualmente los técnicos de Diputación están adaptando el proyecto para asumir los destrozos causados por el temporal del pasado año en la pasarela peatonal de Arroyo de la Parrilla.

Según han informado al concejal de Casares, Diputación va a

asumir en el nuevo proyecto la reposición de la pasarela, así como el apoyo en el lado oeste con el restablecimiento del tramo del paseo que se llevó el agua.

La perspectiva es que Diputación tenga el próximo mes de enero modificado este proyecto, con

lo que se verá incrementado el presupuesto inicial que era de 128.00 euros, y que el Ayuntamiento pida la subvención para poder acometer los trabajos en primavera.

El Concejal de Infraestructuras, Guzman Ahumada, ha

agradecido el compromiso de Diputación con Casares. Y ha calificado de muy fructífero el encuentro de ayer en el que además de la diputada provincial Marina Bravo, participaron técnicos de Diputación y del Ayuntamiento de Casares.

El Ayuntamiento prepara los Presupuestos Participativos 2018 Desde la Concejalía de Participación Ciudadana del Ayuntamiento de Casares se prepara el nuevo proceso de Presupuestos Participativos 2018 en el que podrán participar todas las personas empadronadas en el municipio que hayan cumplido los 14 años.

Los participantes podrán decidir cómo gastar 350.000 euros: 100.000 euros para inversiones que creen empleo en el conjunto del municipio, y 250.000 euros para obras e infraestructuras en los tres núcleos: 100.000 euros para Casares Pueblo, 100.000 euros para Casares Costa y 50.000 euros para El Secadero.

Este año será novedad la nueva herramienta digital, muy útil para los vecinos que residen fuera del municipio ya que permitirá realizar propuestas y votar a través de internet, además de en las asambleas de zona. Para la puesta en funcionamiento de esta nueva plataforma online el pleno aprobó el pasado viernes una modificación del Reglamento de Presupuestos Participativos.

El nuevo proceso de Presupuestos Participativos, junto a su calendario de asambleas en los tres núcleos del municipio y votaciones está previsto que se

presente públicamente el próximo 10 de noviembre.

No obstante, ya se están celebrando contactos con la población como el pasado viernes que se celebró una fiesta en la Casa de la Juventud en la que los jóvenes pudieron exponer sus in-

quietudes y conocer más a fondo cómo participar.

Alrededor de 25 jóvenes trabajaron en grupo para lanzar las primeras ideas de propuestas entre las que destaca: Aula de estudio, Bolsas de Empleo, Skatepark, Talleres y Ruta para bicis.

Casares celebra su Belén Viviente el 22 de Diciembre Desde el Ayuntamiento se trabaja en la nueva edición para la que se va a mejorar el sonido con la instalación de un hilo musical a lo largo del recorrido y un equipo de amplificación para la escena final La concejal de Cultura mantuvo el pasado viernes un primer encuentro con la Escuela Municipal de Baile y la de Teatro, y asociaciones que habitualmente colaboran en la organización del Belén Viviente que este año se va a celebrar el 22 de diciembre, viernes anterior a Navidad.

to se hace un llamamiento a todas las asociaciones o personas individuales que deseen colaborar o participar instalando un puesto, a que contacten con la Casa Natal de Blas Infante.

Rocío Ruiz, ha informado que desde el Ayuntamiento se va a reforzar este año el sonido para lo que se va a contratar una empresa especializada que se encargue de la instalación de un hilo musical a lo largo de todo el recorrido, y de la retransmisión de la escena final, la llegada al nacimiento de todos los participantes.

El Ayuntamiento prepara un aumento de servicios y un sistema de control de entrada a los Baños de la Hedionda Ante el gran número de visitas cuantificadas en el punto de información instalado este verano, desde la Concejalía de Cultura se trabaja para poner en marcha las nuevas medidas de cara a la protección del paraje durante la próxima temporada de baños Más de 25.000 personas han visitado los Baños de la Hedionda el pasado verano, según los datos cuantificados por el servicio de atención al público desde principio de julio hasta mediados de septiembre. Un gran número de visitantes que ha hecho que desde el Ayuntamiento se esté estudiando un sistema de control de visitas y un incremento de servicios para la próxima temporada de baños.

La intención de la Concejalía de Cultura, explica Rocío Ruiz, es desarrollar un sistema de entradas por invitaciones que aun siendo gratuito va a permitir controlar el número de personas que entran al recinto al mismo tiempo, para evitar masificaciones que pueden ser perjudiciales para este recinto de gran valor patrimonial. Las visitantes se aglutinaron en grupos para lo que deberán reservar su entrada gratuita vía digital, un método similar al que funciona en otros

parajes similares.

Al mismo tiempo, se va controlar la entrada de vehículo a la zona con la instalación de barreras, una medida de seguridad que pocos cumplen aunque desde el Consistorio se han habilitado espacios de aparcamiento adecuados.

Además, el Ayuntamiento también se estudia aumentar para la próxima temporada los servicios municipales de vigilancia, limpieza y recogida de basura.

La concejal de Cultura ha

informado de la continuidad del punto de información turística, una propuesta vecinal derivada del proceso de Presupuestos Participativos 2017. Rocío Ruiz ha dicho que el equipo de gobierno considera muy importante este servicio para informar del gran valor patrimonial de los Baños de la Hedionda, y también para reconducir las visitas hasta Casares, ya que muchas de las personas que visitan los Baños reciben información sobre el casco históricos y las actividades programadas en el municipios.

Ofreciendo un mayor conocimiento de las especies existentes en el municipio, especialmente de la colonia de buitre leonado.

Destaca la dotación de un sistema de cámaras de gran calidad para la visión de los anidamientos de buitre leonado del Cancho Andares, que emitirán en directo

a un monitor instalado en el Centro del Visitante en el Puerto de Ronda. Al mismo tiempo que posibilitarán emitir en directo en un canal específico para su visualización online.

Además, se prevé la adaptación de los contenidos para Centro Ornitológico con la adquisición de réplicas hiperrealistas de algunas de las especies de la zona: buitre común, alimoche, águila perdicera y cernícalo común. Lo que se complementaría con la dotación de material divulgativo como paneles retroiluminados con contenidos educativos sobre la especies de aves existentes, lugares de importancia y siluetas de aves más características.

El proyecto se completa con la dotación de un equipo completo de realidad virtual aumentada que permitirá la visión de un entorno físico del mundo real a través de un dispositivo (smartphone, tablet, ordenador etc).

Avistamiento de aves Este proyecto completará otras instalaciones existentes en el municipio para potenciar el avistamiento de aves, con diferentes miradores entre los que destaca el del "Castillo del Moro", o el circuito de cámaras instalado en el mismo Centro de Visitantes para la observación de

aves granívoras de la zona.

Casares también fue pionero hace unos años por un proyecto de recuperar la población del cernícalo primilla con la instalación de nidales en diferentes edificio emblemáticos del casco histórico y en la Torre de la Sal en su litoral.

La procesionaria es una plaga forestal muy nociva que perjudica principalmente al pino, pudiendo llegar devastar pinares enteros si no se combate a tiempo, además las orugas producen peligrosas reacciones alérgicas en personas y animales y son tóxicas incluso cuando están muertas.

l Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa que se han retirado más de 200 instalaciones ilegales de publicidad en cumplimiento de la ordenanza reguladora de publicidad exterior, que entró en vigor en mayo de 2016. El concejal adscrito al área de Comercio, José Antonio Vílchez, ha explicado que los objetivos de esta normativa son reducir la contaminación visual en el paisaje urbano, eliminar los elementos publicitarios que no dispongan de autorización municipal y establecer una serie de normas que protejan el entorno paisajístico.

El edil ha señalado que, desde la entrada en vigor de la ordenanza, se ha realizado un exhaustivo seguimiento de la actividad publicitaria visible desde la vía pública, “procediendo a la retirada de todos aquellos soportes que carecían de licencia, o no se ajustaban a los nuevos parámetros contenidos en la ordenanza”.

Desde el inicio de su aplicación

se han retirado ya más de 200 de estas instalaciones -vallas, monopostes, totems, mástiles, papeleras y distintos soportes de publicidad- distribuidas por el casco urbano y en los márgenes de la autovía. De esos elementos publicitarios, el responsable municipal indica que más de la mitad correspondían a soportes de gran tamaño, lo que ha supuesto una importante reducción del impacto visual negativo.

Además, Vílchez ha destacado la importante labor que se ha llevado a cabo en el centro de la ciudad con la retirada de todos aquellos elementos de carácter publicitario que afectaban a la seguridad, visibilidad y dificultaban el paso de los viandantes, “lo que ha contribuido a facilitar la movilidad de los peatones y conductores en el casco urbano”.

Por otra parte, ha afirmado que todas las instalaciones ilegales de gran tamaño que se encontraban en suelo público han desaparecido del panorama

visual de la localidad. Además, de forma voluntaria, los agentes de publicidad que utilizaban parcelas privadas han retirado un total de cuatro monopostes y 60 vallas que carecían de las correspondientes licencias municipales.

A ese respecto, el responsable del área de Comercio ha recordado que, el pasado mes de junio, el Consistorio se dirigió a los agentes de este sector instándoles a proceder a la retirada de aquellos soportes que no se ajustasen a la ordenanza reguladora de publicidad exterior, ofreciéndoles un plazo de 6 meses para aplicar la normativa.

Finalmente, el plazo se ha ampliado hasta el 31 de diciembre para que los propietarios de instalaciones publicitarias ilegales procedan a su retirada, acogiéndose así a la ordenanza reguladora. A partir de esa fecha, el Ayuntamiento aplicará el régimen sancionador que se establece en dicho documento.

El Ayuntamiento y la asociación 'Frente Bolillón' ponen en marcha una nueva edición de la campaña solidaria ‘Ningún Niño sin Juguete’ El concejal adscrito a las delegaciones de Juventud y Deportes, Adrián Trujillo, y los representantes de la asociación 'Frente Bolillón', Luis Rodríguez y Juan Carlos Aragón, han presentado hoy la 23ª edición de la campaña solidaria 'Ningún niño sin Juguete', que repartirá regalos durante la Navidad a niños de familias con escasos recursos.

El edil ha mostrado su satisfacción por el descenso que desde hace cinco años se está produciendo en el número de solicitantes de este tipo de ayuda y ha comentado que el Consistorio y ‘Frente Bolillón’ vuelven a trabajar de forma conjunta para que “todos los niños de Estepona puedan disfrutar de juguetes nuevos durante las fiestas navideñas”.

Asimismo, ha anunciado que, con la intención de que cada vez sean más las personas que conozcan esta iniciativa y colaboren con ella, se han organizado

actividades complementarias como la Marcha Solidaria, que tendrá lugar el 22 de diciembre y que recaudará fondos para este fin.

Trujillo ha querido valorar la importante acción solidaria que desde hace 25 años lleva a cabo en la ciudad la asociación 'Frente Bolillón', y ha destacado la estrecha colaboración que tiene con el Ayuntamiento.

Por su parte, el presidente de la asociación 'Frente Bolillón', Luís Rodríguez, ha hecho un llamamiento a aquellas familias con falta de recursos para que soliciten acogerse a esta campaña.

Así, los interesados tienen plazo hasta el 13 de diciembre para poder inscribirse de 10.00 a 12.30 horas en las oficinas de la delegación municipal de Juventud, que están ubicadas en el polideportivo cubierto del Carmen. Estas personas deberán presentar la ficha de solicitud, que deberá ir acompañada de fotocopias del DNI del padre y

la madre, fotocopia del Libro de Familia, vida laboral de ambos padres actualizada, certificado del beneficiario de la prestación o subsidio de empleo y certificado de empadronamiento original de la unidad familiar (antigüedad mínima 2016).

Rodríguez ha explicado que anualmente en esta campaña se reparten juguetes a una media de 300 niños, con edades comprendidas entre los 0 y 12 años, que son incluidos en una base de datos. La selección de las familias se realiza a través de la delegación municipal de Bienestar Social.

Además, el representante de 'Frente Bolillón', Juan Carlos Aragón, ha animado a la participación el 22 de diciembre en la Marcha Solidaria que recaudará fondos para este fin.

El precio de la inscripción es de 3 euros por persona, y la comitiva partirá a las 18.00 horas desde el Parque Botánico-Orquidario. Se entregarán dos premios uno al

El Ayuntamiento impulsa una nueva conexión en Valle Romano que unirá a más de 2.000 vecinos y dará acceso al Hospital de Estepona El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa de que ha impulsado la ejecución de una nueva conexión en la zona de Valle Romano, que unirá a más de 2.000 vecinos de este entorno y dará acceso al futuro Hospital. La teniente alcalde del área de Fomento, Infraestructuras y Turismo (FIT), Ana Velasco, ha explicado que el Consistorio ha trabajado con los propietarios de los terrenos de este enclave para que asuman la construcción de un puente que unirá Valle Romano y Santa María Golf.

La edil ha indicado que esta nueva infraestructura, que tiene un coste aproximado de 275.000 euros, se está levantando sobre el arroyo ‘Enmedio’ y permitirá que más de 2.000 vecinos de la zona oeste del casco urbano queden conectados. Asimismo, el futuro puente, situado al norte de la carretera A7, será otro acceso más al futuro Hospital de Estepona, que se encuentra actualmente en fase de ejecución.

Además de la construcción y pavimentación del puente, que tiene una superficie de 1.360 metros cuadrados, los trabajos que se están llevando a cabo en la zona comprenden también la ejecución de un tramo de calle que quedó inconcluso en su día por parte de los que desarrollaron estos suelos.

La responsable del área FIT ha indicado que durante años dos zonas tan importantes como Valle Romano y Santa María Golf han permanecido “incomunicadas” entre sí, pese

al desarrollo urbanístico que ha tenido lugar en estos enclaves. A ese respecto, ha destacado que la zona dispone de varios complejos residenciales, establecimientos hoteleros y campos de golf.

Asimismo, ha recordado que para el equipo de gobierno la mejora de las conexiones entre las urbanizaciones se ha convertido en uno de sus objetivos. Así el Consistorio ejecutó en la zona oeste de la ciudad una rotonda, a la altura de Arroyo Vaquero, para facilitar las conexiones entre las urbanizaciones de este área.

El proyecto europeo ‘La Participación es Importante’ reconoce el trabajo que realiza el Ayuntamiento con los residentes extranjeros El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa de que la ciudad ha sido reconocida por el proyecto europeo ‘La Participación es Importante’ por sus buenas prácticas para favorecer la participación de los ciudadanos extranjeros en la vida social y política del municipio. La coordinadora de esta iniciativa europea, la organización ‘Movimiento por la Paz’, ha invitado a responsables de la delegación municipal de Residentes Extranjeros a un acto en Madrid para que expliquen a autoridades locales y asociaciones de España, Italia y Austria el trabajo que realiza el Consistorio con los vecinos de otras nacionalidades.

El departamento de Residentes Extranjeros del Ayuntamiento atiende diariamente a una decena de personas para ayudarlas o asesorarlas con gestiones variadas. Las atenciones se centran, principalmente, en asesoramiento y gestiones para conseguir la documentación necesaria para establecer su residencia aquí como el NIE, tarjeta de 65 años,

escolarización, explicación del funcionamiento de varios departamentos dentro de los organismos públicos, o información semanal a través de correo electrónico sobre los eventos culturales o los cursos y talleres organizados por el Consistorio.

El mayor obstáculo para un extranjero es la falta de comunicación por el desconocimiento del español, por lo que el departamento de Residentes Extranjeros ofrece la posibilidad de atender hasta en ocho idiomas diferentes.

Además, se realizan reuniones periódicas con los colectivos de extranjeros para recoger sugerencias e informarles sobre los nuevos proyectos de la ciudad, se colabora con intérpretes voluntarios en el centro de salud o con la delegación de Bienestar Social para asuntos de visitas a domicilio o servicios de integración e inmigración.

The European project 'Participation is Important' recognizes the work of the Town Council with foreign residents The European project 'Participation Estepona Council is proud to announce that the town has been recognized by the European project 'Participation is Important' for its initiatives to encourage the participation of foreign citizens in the social and political life of the municipality.

The coordinator of this European initiative, the organization 'Movement for Peace', invited those in charge of the municipal delegation of Foreign Residents to an event in Madrid to explain to local authorities and associations in Spain, Italy and Austria the work they carry out on behalf of the town hall with local residents of other nationalities.

El Ayuntamiento licita la cesión de una parcela para la tercera iglesia rusa ortodoxa de España El Ayuntamiento de Estepona ha licitado la concesión demanial de una parcela para la construcción de una iglesia rusa ortodoxa en Estepona, que se suma de esta forma a los municipios de Madrid y Altea, que ya cuentan con templos de estas características.

La superficie de la parcela objeto de concesión es de 5.844 metros cuadrados y se ubica en la zona de Arroyo de Las Cañas, en la parte oriental del término municipal. Dicha concesión no implica cesión de dominio público.

El adjudicatario asumirá la financiación de la totalidad de las obras a ejecutar sobre los terrenos objeto de concesión, incluso las obras de infraestructuras y urbanización. Asimismo, debe mantener en buen estado el espacio de dominio público utilizado y debe conservar las construcciones, instalaciones, y demás dotaciones del complejo; así como mantenerlas en perfecto estado de funcionamiento, conservación, seguridad, limpieza e higiene durante el plazo por el que constituya la concesión, realizando a su costa cuantas reparaciones y reposiciones sean necesarias a tal fin.

El alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, ha anunciado que el Ayuntamiento ha concedido tres licencias para nuevos proyectos hoteleros en el centro histórico de Estepona. La primera de ellas corresponde a un hotel tipología ‘boutique’ frente al Parque BotánicoOrquidario de Estepona; se trata del primer establecimiento que abre sus puertas en el entorno de este renovado espacio y singular centro de orquídeas que abrió sus puertas en marzo de 2015, convirtiéndose en unos de los principales

atractivos turísticos de la ciudad. El proyecto de este hotel, que contará con 28 habitaciones y zona de restauración, tiene un presupuesto de 350.000 euros.

Se ubicará en la céntrica calle Terraza, con vistas a este parque de más de 10.000 metros cuadrados de superficie.

Junto a este nuevo establecimiento, el Ayuntamiento ha concedido licencia también para otros dos hoteles en las calles Santa Ana y Caridad, que suman otra veintena de plazas hoteleras y una inversión de casi 300.000 euros.

La piscina de Sabinillas ha alcanzado, en apenas un mes, los 500 socios El edil de Deportes del Ayuntamiento de Manilva, Agustín Vargas, ha mostrado su satisfacción por la gran acogida que ha tenido las instalaciones de la piscina municipal ubicada en el complejo deportivo de Sabinillas, y que hace apenas un mes se puso en funcionamiento.

De hecho, indicaba el edil, hasta la fecha se han superado las previsiones más optimistas, ya que este servicio cuenta con 500 socios y de manera habitual en torno a 350 personas practican ejercicio.

para el mes de marzo como la fecha en la que se conseguirían estos números, cifras que han superado todas las expectativas.

Las personas que deseen probar las instalaciones antes de inscribirse tienen la posibilidad de hacerlo pagando solo la cuota diaria que está en 6€ para los no socios y 4 para los socios.

También recordó que son muchas las personas de localidades vecinas que ya tienen plaza en las instalaciones de la piscina y espera que se incremente el número de vecinos que quieren hacer uso de ellas.

Exitosa reunión de AGYA (Asociación Gatos y Amigos) con la Concejalía de Medio Ambiente del Ayuntamiento de Manilva, para la gestión de colonias de gatos.

Con motivo de las diferentes quejas, demandas de actuación y peticiones de ayuda de los vecinos de Manilva dirigidas a AGYA, para controlar y gestionar las diferentes colonias de gatos; nos hemos reunido, el pasado viernes día 13 de octubre, con la Concejalía de Medio Ambiente, para tratar esta problemática que ha adquirido ya niveles de urgencia en puntos focalizados, como el área de El Castillo.

En primer lugar, hemos explicado la inefectividad de la contratación de empresas exterminadoras; tanto porque nos parece una total vulneración de los derechos de estos animales, así como un gasto innecesario por parte del ayuntamiento; pues eliminar los gatos de una colonia asentada provoca el estudiado “efecto vacío” (volverá a repoblarse de gatos en un período corto de tiempo, pues se dan las condiciones idóneas); manifestando que la mejor opción es mantener a los integrantes de las colonias controlados aplicando el protocolo CES (Captura-EsterilizaciónSuelta). Desarrollando este método, los gatos castrados estarán más sosegados y tranquilos, pues ya no tendrán la necesidad de aparearse; y como consecuencia, no se pelearan, ni emitirán maullidos molestos, ni los desagradables marcados con orina.

En segundo lugar, hemos aludido

a la necesidad de fijar puntos de alimentación oficiales con pienso seco y agua; pues una gran problemática de las colonias de gatos, es la actuación humana a la hora de alimentar; dejando, en gran número de ocasiones, envases con restos de comida casera y sobrantes; lo cual genera residuos, mal olor, descomposiciones a los felinos que los consumen; por lo tanto, gran suciedad que propicia un ambiente insalubre, quejas y conflictos vecinales. También hemos expuesto al ayuntamiento la necesidad de emitir los correspondientes carnés de alimentadores oficiales, y la prohibición expresa de alimentar a las colonias por personas no autorizadas; todo ello repercutirá en espacios limpios y bien acondicionados.

Otro punto tratado que nos parece igual de relevante es la

modificación de las ordenanzas municipales en tenencia de animales que necesitan urgentemente actualización; para estar en consonancia con las nuevas necesidades y sensibilidades propias de una sociedad que evoluciona en materia de protección animal.

Estamos muy satisfechos con la actitud, disposición y comprensión de la Concejalía de Medio Ambiente, ante todas nuestras explicaciones, exposiciones y manifiestos en la reunión; mostrándose totalmente receptiva para asumir sus responsabilidades, y abordar estas problemáticas desde un marco colaborador con nosotros; contrato colaborativo que presentaremos la semana que viene, en relación al control de colonias de gatos, y del cual iremos informando.

AGYA (Association for Cats and Friends) meets with the Manilva Environment Department to discuss management of cat colonies As a result of a number of complaints, demands for action and requests for help by residents of Manilva to control and to manage the different colonies of cats directed to AGYA; the group met, on Friday 13 October, with the Department of Environment, to address this problem that has reached crisis point in some areas, such as the El Castillo area.

First, we have explained the ineffectiveness of contracting exterminating companies; both because it seems to us a total violation of the rights of these animals, as well as an unnecessary expense to the municipality; according to research eliminating the cats of a settled colony causes the "empty effect" (which will repopulate cats in a short period of time, given the ideal conditions); stating that the best option is to

keep the members of the colonies controlled by applying the CES protocol (Capture-SterilizeRelease). Developing this method, the castrated cats will be more calm because they will no longer have the need to mate; and as a consequence, they will not fight, be noisy, nor mark their territory with urine.

Second, we have mention the need to set official feeding points with dry feed and water; because a great problem of these colonies of cats, is well meaning but inappropriate human interference such as leaving containers with homemade food and leftovers; which generates waste, bad smell, and can be harmful to the cats; this leads to an unhealthy environment, complaints and neighborhood conflicts. We have also suggested to the town hall the need to designate official

feeders, and to prohibit the feeding the cat colonies by unauthorized persons; all this will to a clean and well-conditioned environment.

Another point discussed that seems equally relevant to us is the modification of the municipal ordinances on the possession of animals that urgently need updating; to be in line with the new requirements of a society that evolves in terms of animal protection.

We are very satisfied with the attitude, disposition and understanding of the Department of the Environment, listening to our explanations, exhibitions and manifestos at the meeting; showing itself totally receptive to assume its responsibilities, and approach these problems from a collaborative point with us to control cat colonies in Manilva.

La Concejalía de Salud, que dirige la edil Juani Ortiz, ha dispuesto hasta tres consultas en los núcleos de Manilva, Sabinillas y el Castillo para atender a los vecinos que requieran cuidados del pie.

Para favorecer que la ciudadanía pueda ajustar la cita al día y la hora que más le convenga; se le ofrece la posibilidad de acudir a cualquiera de estas consultas indistintamente.

Además, los empadronados en nuestro municipio podrán beneficiarse de tratamientos de podología a unos precios muy reducidos, debido a que han sido bonificados por el Ayuntamiento de Manilva.

Manilva’s Health Department has extended the municipality’s podiatry services, with appointments now available in Manilva, Castillo and Sabinillas for all residents registered in Manilva requiring foot care.

Local residents will be able to choose the most convenient centre and time to visit and the treatments are at a low cost due to their being subsidised by the Manilva Town Council.

The consultations are available at the Manilva Health Centre on Wednesdays from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm, in the Usos Multiples Building in Sabinillas on

Tuesdays from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm, as well as in an adjoining room of the Guardería del Castillo building every Monday from 10 am to 2 pm.

El concejal de Turismo, Diego Urieta, apoyado por la alcaldía, tomó la decisión de ampliar el servicio de atención a la ciudadanía en esta materia, máxime cuando el Civima puede convertirse en una referencia de otro tipo de turismo en el que desde el Ayuntamiento se tiene puesta

muchas esperanzas.

Urieta recalcó que: "el Centro de Interpretación las Viñas puede ser un punto de partida importante para que definitivamente cuente con un reclamo turístico notable y se complete a las numerosas posibilidades con las que cuenta nuestro municipio", apuntó.

Desde este puesto se gestionará y organizará dicho edificio, en todos sus aspectos y dependencias: Museo, aulas, sala de usos múltiples y bar.

El objetivo principal es habilitar un espacio turístico de primer orden en este Centro Municipal, ligado a nuestras costumbres y tradiciones, además de dinamizar el mismo, a través de la organización y realización de todo tipo de actividades y eventos de

índole municipal y también de carácter privado.

Una persona perteneciente al área de Turismo será la encargada de realizar esta labor de lunes a viernes de 8.00h a 15.00h y de 16.00h a 20.00h y la coordinación con otras delegaciones municipales para gestionar cualquier actividad que se proponga.

También se ha habilitado un correo electrónico para que toda aquella persona que no se pueda personar en la nueva oficina pueda poder ponerse en contacto: civima@ayto-manilva.com El deseo de realizar cualquier actividad privada en el Civima tendrá que ser notificada en tiempo y forma bien por dependencias municipales del propio Ayuntamiento o por entes o asociaciones.

New tourist information point at the Wine Centre The Manilva wine centre is the location for Manilva’s new Tourist information point.

The councillor for tourism, Diego Urieta, announced that the office opened at the beginning of October, and will serve visitors and residents in Manilva Town.

The Wine Centre is the ideal

I Feria Gastronómica “Saborea Manilva”

I Gastronomic Fair "Taste of Manilva"

Los días 8 y 9 de diciembre la Plaza de la Vendimia en Manilva acogerá la I Feria Gastronómica “Saborea Manilva”.

Los asistentes podrán recorrer el mercado gastronómico que se preparará para la ocasión, además de adquirir y degustar productos tradicionales de nuestra tierra o vivir nuestro tradicional concurso del vino. Todo ello acompañado por diversas actuaciones navideñas.

La inauguración y apertura de esta iniciativa tendrá lugar a las nueve y media de la mañana. A partir de las diez y hasta las doce del mediodía, se recibirán las muestras para el concurso del vino en el stand municipal.

A continuación, un jurado seleccionado para esta ocasión, se reunirá y deliberará sobre las muestras de vino, por categorías.

Ya a las dos de la tarde se podrá degustar una caldereta en la misma Plaza de la Vendimia.

A las dos y media de la tarde se realizará la lectura del acta del jurado y se procederá a la entrega de premios de los ganadores en

La película rodada localmente “Luz” a punto de ser lanzada

Locally filmed movie ‘Luz’ nearing release

Con su guión basado en eventos y personajes reales, se asoció con residentes locales y los propietarios de Cash Creator Ashley Barrie y Patricia Cáceres que se convirtieron en productor y productor ejecutivo respectivamente. Usando su considerable experiencia en dirección, Damian Chapa buscó convertir una historia conmovedora en una película donde conviven la tristeza y el humor.

La película se basa en una joven aristócrata (Luz) cuyo padre es de origen noble y su madre tiene un puesto importante en las Naciones Unidas en Nueva York.

Ella es bailaora de flamenco, pero habiendo tenido una infancia problemática, le es difícil encontrar la felicidad y adoptar un estilo de vida convencional. Encuentra consuelo en Michael, un

There was a wealth of talent locally who all helped behind the scenes and indeed acting with the principle actress a relatively unknown from La Mancha in Spain called Anna Martinez. ¿ES USTED VICTIMA DE UN ACCIDENTE DE TRÁFICO? LE INTERESARÁ LEER ESTE ARTÍCULO

S

i usted es víctima de unaccidentetiene derecho a ser indemnizado por los daños sufridos, físicos, materiales o personales. Los daños materiales son aquellos que afectan al vehículo o a otros objetos transportados debido al accidente. Los daños personales son los que padecen las personas implicadas en el accidente, ya sean conductores, pasajeros o peatones.Se podrá reclamar la indemnización tanto por daños personales (perjuicio personal por pérdida temporal de calidad de vida: muy grave, grave o moderado y las secuelas), como por los gastos derivados del accidente (rehabilitación privada, collarines, medicación, transporte, etc.), así como el perjuicio patrimonial ( lucro cesante, que es la pérdida o disminución temporal de ingresos netos provenientes del trabajo personal del lesionado, o en su caso de su dedicación exclusiva a las tareas del hogar).

La cuantía de la indemnización de estos daños se fija de conformidad a unas reglas que no se pueden aplicar de manera automática, ya que existen multitud de factores que

pueden influir en función de las circunstancias y del alcance y repercusión de los daños ocasionados. La estimación de estos daños se realiza de forma individual, teniendo en cuenta en cada caso la repercusión que el daño produce en la vida de la víctima o en la de las personas que dependen de él.

Tras la entrada en vigor de la Reforma del Código Penal en julio de 2015, para solicitar la indemnización por accidente de tráfico los pasos a seguir varían, pues los juicios de falta por la vía penal por accidente de tráfico desaparecen. Ahora, para poder reclamar una indemnización por accidente de tráfico la vía a utilizar es la civil.

La modificación del Código Penal y la posterior Ley 35/2015, de 22 de septiembrede reforma del sistema para la valoración de los daños y perjuicios causados a las personas en accidentes de circulación, han sentado las bases para la nueva forma de actuar cuando se nos plantean reclamaciones de este tipo, siendo el objetivo incrementar la protección a las víctimas mediante la garantía de una

indemnización suficiente, es decir, la REPARACIÓN INTEGRA DE LOS DAÑOS Y PERJUICIOS. Se intenta conseguiruna más rápida y satisfactoria reparación de la víctima o perjudicado, evitando el procedimiento judicial.Por ello, es importante un aspecto novedoso, como es la obligación de reclamación previa de la víctima o perjudicado a la compañía de seguros.

Recuerde que si el vehículo contrario no tiene seguro, o se dio a la fuga sin poder ser localizado, la indemnización corresponderá al Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros, entidad pública adscrita al Ministerio de Economía que tiene por objeto, entre otras funciones: Indemnizar los accidentes por daños personales que se hayan producido en España cuando el vehículo responsable sea desconocido.

También se cubrirán los daños sufridos en los bienes si la víctima hubiera fallecido o sufriera una incapacidad permanente o una incapacidad temporal que requiera una estancia hospitalaria superior a siete días. Indemnizar los daños en las personas y en los bienes, producidos por vehículos que no están asegurados o que han sido robados. Indemnizar los daños derivados de un accidente de circulación cuando exista controversia entre el consorcio y la compañía de seguros.

Por ello, es importante contar con un abogado experto que le asesore y le gestione su reclamación, para proteger sus derechos y poder conseguir la reparación integra de los daños causados.

ictims of traffic accidents are usually entitled to some kind of compensation. The compensation to be awarded is calculated individually and in accordance with rules that cannot be applied automatically as there are many factors that influence their application. Since the application of the Penal Code Reform in July 2015, the steps to be taken in order to request compensation for traffic accident have changed as now traffic accident lawsuits have to be claimed for through the Civil Courts and not through the Criminal courts as before.

This amendment of the Criminal Code and the subsequent Law 35/2015, dated September 22, reforming the system for the assessment of damages caused to people involved in traffic accidents, provided the groundwork for the new and potentially more efficient way of acting when we raise claims of this type. The objective being to increase the protection of victims by guaranteeing sufficient COMPENSATION FOR DAMAGES AND INJURIES INCURRED, in a prompt and fair manner, and avoiding the judicial procedure. In order to do this the injured party must make claim from their insurance company beforehand.

Don’t forget that If the other vehicle involved is not insured or does not stop and cannot be located any compensation should be covered

by The Insurance Compensation Consortium, which is a public body attached to the Ministry of Economy. Among other obligations this Consortium is required to compensate the injured parties in Spain when a vehicle cannot be found or is not insured. Material damage is also covered in the case of death of the victim or when the victim suffers temporary incapacity, (i.e. required to stay in hospital for more than 7 days), or also in cases of permanent incapacity; They should also compensate damages to persons and property, produced by vehicles that are not insured or that have been stolen and pay compensation for damages arising from a traffic accident where there is a dispute between the consortium and the insurance company.

Local youngster chosen to appear in new series of horror films in May. He was invited to audition for Campfire Creepers and, to his delight, secured the part. Filming of the first two episodes took place in Madrid in July and the director has plans for another 20 episodes in the future.

“It was amazing. I realized it was a great part and I really wanted it. I studied really hard on my lines and the American accent, and when they called me and told me the part was mine, I was overjoyed. It's just the best thing ever,” the excited young actor.

premier at the Sitges Film Festival in October, will be released on Halloween.

Inspired by cult classics, like Tales from the Crypt, the first episode, Skull of Sam, includes a guest appearance by Robert Englund, known for his terrifying portrayal of Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.

“The experience was amazing and I am determined to make my career as both a professional rugby player and actor. I'm aiming high,” Spike says confidently.

Launch of a new information website for older and vulnerable British people living in the Costa del Sol The British Consulate and the University of Birmingham have launched a new website for older and more vulnerable foreign residents with useful information on how to get extra support and help.

At a well-attended event to present the website, there were over 60 people from various different charities and voluntary groups that provide unstinting support for British nationals who are resident in Spain as well as those of other nationalities.

The launch was held in the district council offices in La Cala de Mijas and was led by British Consul Andalucía, Charmaine Arbouin and Dr Kelly Hall of the University of Birmingham.

It was also an important opportunity for those present to hear about the latest news from the British Consulate in Malaga and network with other people working with older and more vulnerable people

in southern Spain.

The project, called Support in Spain, is the result of a close cooperation between the British Consulate in Malaga and the School of Social Policy at the University. The project set out to research the issues older and vulnerable British people face while living in Spain and to suggest possible solutions to help prevent them becoming socially isolated in the future.

One of the conclusions of the study was the need to develop a website that includes all the contact information of the different voluntary groups and Spanish statutory authorities available, as well as helpful advice on common questions, such as how to secure extra social care, help for a disability or assistance with paperwork in Spanish.

Dr Kelly Hall of the University of Birmingham, who led the project, said: “Our research showed that many people on the Costa del

Sol are facing the need to secure support and welfare as they get older while coping with limited finances and little understanding of the Spanish social security system.”

Kelly continued: “This website helps put all the information in one place and we can add to it and expand its coverage over time.

We hope that everyone can use it, including even friends and family back in the UK and the charities working in Spain.

“We also wanted to publish the website in Spanish as well as English so that doctors, social workers and people’s Spanishspeaking neighbours can access information on English-speaking assistance for their patients or friends for the first time.”

Charmaine Arbouin, British Consul - Andalucía said: “It is exciting to see this project come to fruition.

The challenge of an ageing population is as relevant to Britons

living in Spain as it is to those back in the United Kingdom, although there is not always as much access to information here in Spain.

I recognise the incredible work done by so many volunteers across southern Spain to support foreign residents who are in need and I hope that this website is a useful support tool for them in their work.”

Charmaine continued: “Our message from the British Consulate in Malaga to UK residents is clear: Plan ahead for the future as you get older and know what you will do if something unexpected happens, for example when you lose a partner. Anyone can become vulnerable at any time and it is better to be prepared.”

Representatives of the groups attending the event were very interested in the website and also in meeting colleagues from different local charitable organisations.

Among those groups present

were the Duquesa Charitable Society of St George, Royal British Legion, Age Care, Age Concern, Cudeca, Lions Club, St. Andrew’s Chaplaincy, Manilva Foreign Residents department and many more organisations.

There was lively discussion and debate on the challenges of an ageing population and what people can do to help themselves, such as the need for all UK residents, whatever their age, to stay registered on the local town hall ‘padron’ register in order to access benefits in the future.

The project was funded by the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

El Ayuntamiento presenta la nueva temporada de espectáculos del Auditorio Felipe VI El teniente alcalde del área Sociocultural y Servicios, Blas Ruzafa, y el responsable de la gestión del Auditorio Felipe VI, José María Asensi, han presentado los espectáculos que tendrán lugar en este equipamiento cultural durante las próximas semanas.

Los espectáculos que se celebrarán en el Auditorio Felipe VI antes de que finalice el año, Blas Ruzafa ha subrayado la representación de dos ballets míticos como son ‘El cascanueces’ y ‘El lago de los cisnes’.

New season of shows at the Felipe VI Auditorium Estepona’s councillor for culture, Blas Ruzafa, along with the manager of the Felipe VI Theatre, José María Asensi, presented the shows that will be put on at the theatre over the coming weeks.

Among the shows to be held in the Felipe VI Auditorium before the end of the year, are two classic ballets, 'The Nutcracker' and 'Swan Lake'.

'The Nutcracker' by Tchaikovsky 'can be enjoyed on December 9 and will be performed by the School of Russian Ballet. This production will involve more than 40 dancers who will wear a colorful wardrobe to recreate this story full of dolls, clowns, fairies and old gentlemen.

On January 3 will be the turn of 'Swan Lake' performed by the Kiev ballet, one of the most important in Ukraine, who have performed

at some of the most prestigious venues in Europe including the Theatre du Léman, the Beaulieu Theatre, the Kongresshaus and the National Theatre in Switzerland; the Congress Palace of Lugano, the Verdi Theatre in Italy; and the Royal Circus of Brussels, in Belgium.

In addition to opera and dance, the Felipe VI Auditorium will host again, on December 10, a performance of the musical 'Peter Pan', returning after the great reviews it received in the town last summer. This musical production, which has been successfully performed for more than a decade in various countries, includes pyrotechnics, an important set design, flying characters, and the performance of more than twenty actors.

The programming over the next weeks is completed by the show 'Hija de la Luna' by Robin Torres, in which he pays tribute to the pop group 'Mecano'. On December 3, fans of the legendary trio will be able to commemorate the 'Aidalai Tour', who have been performing for over 25 years.

Ahora siento el silencio de la noche, no un vacio, las manos bajo la sábana, la amante liberada, el dorso de la estrella en mis clavículas.

Busqué la fe como un loco apretando mis manos y dejando mi sangre en la calle.

Así, accesible, el viento me enseñó sus cosechas.

Cosas nuestras, cosas suyas, obreros blancos, versátil misión. ¿Hice el trabajo?

Tanta preocupación…

Sotogrande ladies stride out The Autumn/Winter season at ICE for charity The season got off to a very busy start in late September in a packed clubhouse for the Welcome Back Party, with a splendid buffet meal and dancing to Rockin' Johnny.

(Strictly’s got nothing on us!) Other events were coach trips to the Guadalhorce lakes (with cava and swimming) and to Fuengirola for the Salon de Variétés’ production of South Pacific. Maggie, our Secretary, was disappointed not to be asked to stand in for either of the leading ladies, as she had been rehearsing specially, but the performance was excellent

us as the swimming pool with mud slide) we are open for business five days a week from 10 am. to 1.30 pm. Volunteers to run the shop are always needed and we have several vacancies at the moment. La organización St. George tiene una relación cercana con Age Concern, que proporciona servicios y asistencia para los expatriados más mayores en la zona.

In response to a tragic situation earlier in the year a number of local residents have come together to form the BuddyUp (Manilva) Community Support Group, a ‘befriending’ group to provide support, comfort and a point of contact for people facing a variety of challenges.

The BuddyUp group is coordinated by Marguerite Wilkins, and already has a number of members signed up.

Working closely with other local charities and organisations, including the Duquesa Charitable Society of St George, Age Concern, Estepona and Manilva, Citizens’ Advice, Cudeca, Social Services, etc., the group aims to provide support and advice for the elderly, disabled, those who have recently lost a partner, single parents, divorcees, the socially excluded, people that are new to the area, in fact anyone who might need someone to talk to or just pointing in the right direction.

St George Charity launches the 2017 Christmas Gift Appeal The Duquesa Charitable Society of St. George 2017 Children’s Gift Appeal has just been launched and the charity needs your donations to achieve their target to provide gifts for around 500 local underprivileged children this festive season.

The St George charity is looking for donations of cash, which will then used to put together gift bags for underprivileged children aged from 3 to 16 years of age as identified by the local Social Services Departments in Manilva and Casares, and the Emaus Social Kitchen in Estepona. Last year the charity provided gift bags for around 490 children.

Cash donations can be made at the St George Charity’s shops in Calle Duquesa de Arcos (opposite O’Callaghans) and in Plaza de las Naranjas, Sabinillas as well as the newly opened shop in Avenida Marqués del Duero, 9, Cancelada, Estepona.

Citizens Advice Bureau Spain weekly surgery The Duquesa Charitable Society of St George is hosting a weekly surgery by Citizens Advice Bureau Spain every Wednesday morning from 10.30 am to 1 pm.

The surgery will be held at the St George Charity’s new shop in Calle Aurora de Albornoz, Punta Almina, Sabinillas, and is part of the Charity’s community support programme.

If you would like to see one of CAB Spain’s advisers then pop along to the shop on Wednesday morning, although it is advisable to book an appointment as it can sometimes be busy.

All consultations are free but CAB Spain is funded by donations, so if you feel that their advice has been valuable then please make a donation in the tin provided.

At a fundraising event earlier this year Jacquie Claxton, owner of The Frock Exchange in Benavista and publisher of The Diary magazine, and her daughter TeĂĄ raised over 500 euros in support of Alzheimers and Dementia assistance.

This has been a subject close to her heart since her father was struck down by this cruel disease.

The money will be used in collaboration with Age Concern and the BuddyUp Support Group to providing assistance from Alzheimers and Dementia sufferers, their families and carers.

Diez frutas que sí comen los perros

¿Cómo lograr que el perro coma fruta?

Peras, manzanas, plátanos, arándanos... Estos alimentos no solo pueden formar parte de la dieta humana. "Frutas como la manzana y la pera aportan grandes beneficios al perro", señala el veterinario y dietista canino, Carlos Alberto Gutiérrez, autor del blog Nutricionista de perros.

Los beneficios que tienen algunas frutas para el can han sido también estudiados por Rick Woodford, autor del libro 'Alimenta mejor a tu mejor amigo' ('Feed Your Best Friend Better', Andrews McMeel, 2012). "Las comidas y piensos procesados para perros contienen el balance apropiado de proteínas, grasas, vitaminas y minerales que el animal necesita", explica Woodford, que también escribe el blog The Dog Food Dude. Sin embargo, añade Woodford, estos alimentos envasados para perros también contienen algunas carencias:

"carecen de antioxidantes y otras vitaminas y sustancias que sí contienen los alimentos naturales como la fruta". Estas sustancias presentes en la fruta, añade, son importantes para asegurar la salud del can a largo plazo. "Previenen enfermedades como el cáncer o las dolencias de corazón en el perro", afirma.

Algunas frutas, además, son ricas en fibra, apunta Gutiérrez por su parte. "Aunque los canes no necesitan tomar mucha, ingerir pequeñas cantidades de fibra beneficia su sistema digestivo", dice.

Antes de introducir cualquier fruta en la alimentación de un perro hay que consultar con el veterinario o nutricionista canino. No todas las frutas son buenas para el can: las hay algo peligrosas e, incluso, tóxicas para perros, como las uvas y las pasas, siempre que el animal las ingiera en grandes cantidades.

¿Qué frutas sí son beneficiosas?

Woodford, que empezó a cocinar en casa para sus mascotas después de que a uno de ellos, Jackson, le diagnosticaran cáncer, recomienda el siguiente listado de "frutas saludables para canes": 1.Arándanos (son antioxidantes) 2. Plátanos 3. Manzanas 4. Peras 5. Mangos 6. Papayas 7. Melones 8. Albaricoques 9. Ciruelas 10. Naranjas

¿Cómo ofrezco frutas al perro?

La cantidad de fruta que el perro ingiera debe estar supervisada por el especialista. Esto es importante ya que no todos la aceptan. Algunos, incluso, pueden padecer alergias. Y la fruta no debe sustituir a su dieta habitual: se trata, en todo caso, de un complemento y en pequeñas cantidades. ¿Otras precauciones?

"Todas deben estar libres de pipas y semillas antes de ofrecérselas al can", remacha el autor de 'Alimentar mejor a tu mejor amigo'. Lo importante es lograr una dieta equilibrada para el perro, señala, por su parte, el veterinario Fausto Andrés. "Si se alimenta con la cantidad de proteínas suficientes, se le puede ofrecer frutas sin problemas", asegura.

Es mejor cortar la fruta en trozos, para que el perro muerda su carne Introducir las frutas en la dieta del can desde que es un cachorro es una de las claves para que el animal acepte este alimento.

"Cuando esto ocurre, es habitual que el perro las disfrute y se las coma solas, sin necesidad de tener que mezclarlas con otras viandas", apunta Gutiérrez. Lo idóneo, coincide Woodford, es "comenzar cuando son pequeños, con distintas frutas dentro de sus cuencos de comida". Que un perro adulto no habituado acepte las frutas como parte de su dieta es algo más complicado.

Para ello, Gutiérrez propone mezclarlas con otros alimentos, como sardinas enlatadas o pollo, y hacer un puré con los frutos.

Woodford aporta otro consejo: cortar la fruta en trozos. "Muchas frutas están envueltas en una piel dura, que puede suponer una resistencia para el can. Cortarlas en pedazos ayuda a que muerda la carne de la fruta y que no sea la piel lo primero que encuentre".

La pauta, de nuevo, es no caer en el exceso. "La fruta no debe sustituir a la alimentación habitual, sino ser ofrecida como premios o regalos", concluye Andrés.

Frutas para perros: consejos rápidos Un resumen rápido, para no perderse. Hay frutas beneficiosas para el perro. Entre ellas, la manzana, los arándanos y el plátano. Otras, como las uvas o las pasas pueden ser tóxicas, si el can las ingiere en grandes cantidades: dañan sus riñones.

Algunos veterinarios, además, recomiendan retirar las semillas de las frutas (manzanas, peras albaricoque, etc.) que se ofrecen al perro: son perjudiciales e inflaman su aparato digestivo, en especial si son grandes.

¿Otro consejo?

Antes de introducir frutas en la dieta canina hay que consultar con el veterinario o nutricionista: no todos los perros aceptan el mismo tipo de dieta. Cualquier cambio en su alimentación debe ser paulatino y supervisado por un profesional: no se pueden descartar posibles alergias.

Como es obvio, las frutas no pueden sustituir la dieta habitual del can: se trata de un suplemento que debe ofrecerse en pequeñas cantidades. Mezclar peras o manzanas con alimentos naturales y sabrosos, como el pollo, ayuda a que el animal

Ten fruits that dogs eat

Fruits like apple, banana and blueberries provide antioxidants and fibre to the dog Pears, apples, bananas, blueberries ... These foods cannot only be a part of the human diet. "Fruits like apples and pears can provide great benefits to the dog," says veterinarian and canine dietician, Carlos Alberto Gutiérrez, author of the blog Dog Nutritionist.

The benefits of some fruits for canines have also been studied by Rick Woodford, author of the book 'Feed Your Best Friend' (Andrews McMeel, 2012). "Processed dog food and biscuit contains the proper balance of protein, fat, vitamins and minerals the animal needs," explains Woodford, who also writes The Dog Food Dude blog. However, adds Woodford, these packaged dog foods also contain some shortcomings: "they lack antioxidants and other vitamins and substances that are contained in natural foods like fruit." These substances, present in the fruit, he adds, are important to ensure the health of the dog in the long term.

"They prevent diseases like cancer or heart ailments in the dog," he says. Some fruits, moreover, are rich in fibre, notes Gutiérrez. "Although dogs do not need to drink too much, small amounts of fibre will benefit their digestive system," he adds.

Before introducing any fruit into a dog's diet you should consult with the veterinarian or canine nutritionist. Not all fruits are good for the dog: there is something dangerous and even toxic for dogs, such as grapes and raisins, when the animal ingests them in large quantities.

Which fruits are beneficial?

Woodford, who started cooking at home for his pets after one of them, Jackson, was diagnosed with cancer, recommends the following listing of "healthy fruits for dogs": 1. Blueberries (are antioxidants) 2. Bananas 3. Apples 4. Pears 5. Mangoes 6. Papayas 7. Melons 8. Apricots 9. Plums 10. Oranges

How do I offer fruit to a dog?

The amount of fruit the dog eats should be supervised by the specialist. This is important since not all of them will readily accept it. Some of them may even have allergies. And the fruit should not replace their usual diet: it is, in any case, a supplement and in small quantities.

Are there other precautions?

"All fruit should be free of pits and seeds before offering them to the dog, "underscores the author of 'Feed Your Best Friend Better. The important thing is to achieve a balanced diet for the dog, says, on the other hand, the veterinarian Fausto Andrés. "If you feed them enough protein, you can offer fruit without problems," he says.

Introducing the fruits in the diet of the dog when it is a puppy is one of the keys for the animal to accept this type of food.

"When this happens, it is normal for the dog to enjoy them and eat them separately, without having to mix them with other foods," says Gutiérrez. The ideal thing, agrees Woodford, is "to start them when they are small, with different fruits inside their food bowls". That an unaccustomed adult dog accepts fruits as part of their diet is more complicated. To do this, Gutiérrez proposes by mixing them with other foods, such as canned sardines or chicken, and puree the fruits.

Woodford offers another piece of advice: to cut the fruit into pieces. "Many fruits are wrapped in a hard skin, which can cause a resistance to the dog. By cutting them into pieces helps to bite into the flesh of the fruit and that is not the skin the first thing they encounter." The rule to follow, again, is not to give excesses. "Fruit should not replace the usual food, but be offered as treats or rewards," Andrés concludes.

Fruits for Dogs: Quick Tips

A brief summary, there are fruits which are beneficial to our dogs. Among them, are, apples, blueberries and bananas.

Others, such as grapes or raisins, can be toxic if they are ingested in large quantities: they may damage their kidneys.

Some veterinarians also recommend removing the seeds from the fruits (apples, apricot pears, etc.) that are offered to the dog: they are harmful and may inflame the digestive system, especially if they are large.

Another tip, before introducing fruits into the cogs diet you should consult with a veterinarian or nutritionist: not all dogs accept the same type of diet. Any change in their diet should be gradual and supervised by a professional; also you cannot rule out possible food allergies.

Obviously, fruits cannot replace the dog’s usual diet, it is a supplement that must be offered in small quantities.

Mixing pears or apples with natural and tasty foods, such as chicken, helps the animal to accept these foods.

The 50 Plus Expo returns at the upmarket IPV Palace Hotel and Spa , Fuengirola The hugely popular 50 Plus Expo, the Coast’s lifestyle event for its older people, is back at a new, upmarket venue, the four-star IPV Palace Hotel and Spa next to Fuengirola Castle on the weekend of December 2nd and 3rd.

The organisers say they have brought the free-admission event to the east of the Coast, ‘following requests from numerous exhibitors and visitors’.

They point to the hotel’s first-class facilities, its comfort, fine dining and bars, which are now expected by discerning visitors and exhibitors.

Another deciding factor was the hotel’s location a few minutes’ walk from Fuengirola town as well as being positioned conveniently to many well-populated towns and villages such as Mijas, Benalmadena, The Alhaurins, Marbella, Elviria, Calahonda, La Cala, Cartema and many more However, they emphasise, it will be ‘business as usual’ for the show, which will include many of the features, which have made this unique event so successful over the last decade.

Eric Knowles of The Antiques Road Show will be back giving free valuations from small items and collectibles, and larger pieces from photographs.

Internationally acclaimed expert Mike Kelly will be offering free valuations of coins, stamps and banknotes. At the last event Mike discovered coins worth 50,000 Euro!

Also covered will be fashions,

jewellery, bridge tuition, free health checks, financial, pensions and legal advice, TV reception art, modern dance lessons, spa treatments, eye health, spinal treatments, ear testing, plus entertainment.

The organisers add that because the event will be mounted at the beginning of the festive season there will also be many Christmas attractions, notably cookery demonstrations offering traditional fayre and more novel cuisine, as well as a Christmas gift feature.

Art exhibition at The 50s Plus Expo The Andalusian International Artists art group will be displaying their new works at the show.

Professional and dedicated visual artists from around Europe who are all living and working in Andalucía formed the AIA Art Group nine years ago.

Biological age!

Do you ever look in the mirror and think you look older than your years, or worse still look at someone else and think they look much much younger!

Every year everyone ages at the same rate chronologically. But our bodies have their own "biological clock."

Our biological clock is very dependent on our individual cells and make up.

Some facts about aging

Once we reach middle age, our bodies slow and then stop producing Growth Hormone secretion.

You may have heard this called "Low-T" or "Low Testosterone" in men.

You might be surprised that women experience growth hormone reduction as well when estrogen levels decline around middle-age.

This is called"somatopause."

¿Alguna vez te miras en el espejo y piensas que pareces más mayor de lo que eres? O aún peor, miras a alguien y piensas que parece mucho más joven.

Cada año, todo el mundo envejece a la misma velocidad cronológicamente.

Pero nuestros cuerpos tienen sus propios “relojes biológicos”.

Algunos datos sobre el envejecimiento

Una vez que alcanzamos la edad madura, nuestros cuerpos se ralentizan y dejan de producir la secreción de la hormona del crecimiento. Como quizás sepas se llama “Baja testosterona” en los hombres. Quizá te sorprenda saber que las mujeres experimentan una reducción de la hormona del crecimiento también, cuando los niveles de estrógeno bajan. Esto se denomina somatopausia.

Esto es lo que sucede durante la somatopausia: La masa corporal magra disminuye Ganas peso (especialmente en la zona abdominal) Disminuye la densidad ósea Disminuye la líbido Disminuyen los niveles de energía Se forman arrugas Aumenta el colesterol (el colesterol MALO sube, el colesterol BUENO baja) Son básicamente todas las señales y síntomas del envejecimiento.

Hay dos cosas que puedes hacer: Visitar un doctor anti-edad, ponerte inyecciones de hormonas. Te dará inyecciones de HGH (hormona del crecimiento). ¿Caro? Sí. ¿Merece la pena?

Quizá. Tendrás que combatir contra muchos efectos secundarios y todavía hay que investigar bastante para ver el resultado final de la hormona del crecimiento.

Here’s what happens during somatopause: Lean body mass goes down You gain weight (especially in the midsection) Bone density decreases Sex drive diminishes Energy levels decline Wrinkles form Cholesterol increases (BAD Cholesterol goes up, GOOD cholesterol goes down) It’s basically all the signs and symptoms of getting older.

And there are two things you can do about it: Visit an anti-aging doc, get hormone injections. He’ll give you injections of HGH (growth hormone). Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Maybe. You have to fight through a ton of side effects. And there are many years of research to do until the final outcome of the hormones are fully known.

Exercise.

The right kind of exercise is a proven way to increase growth hormone.

Long slow workouts do very little to encourage natural growth hormone, this is s why my exercise program supports high intensity exercise .

Short, high-intensity intervals are a proven way to trigger the release of growth hormone and fight the signs of aging.

They also burn more calories during (and AFTER!) each workout.

After a thorough warm up, my maximum time spent in the high intensity zone is approx 20 mins, I find this to extremely challenging but not draining, it doesn’t stress my body or age it faster, unlike a slow burn workout.

Remember, high intensity training is toug, not advisable for a novice!

Ejercicio.

El tipo de ejercicio correcto es una forma demostrada de aumentar la hormona del crecimiento. Los entrenamientos largos y lentos hacen poco para fomentar la producción natural de la hormona del crecimiento y por eso en mi programa de ejercicios incluyo ejercicios de alta intensidad.

Los intervalos cortos de alta intensidad son una forma demostrada de activar la liberación de la hormona del crecimiento y luchar contra los signos de la edad.

También queman más calorías durante (y DESPUÉS) de cada sesión.

Después de un buen calentamiento, el tiempo máximo que paso en la zona de alta intensidad es aproximadamente 20 minutos. Esto es extremadamente desafiante pero no es agotador, no estresa mi cuerpo o hace que envejezca más rápido, a diferencia de un entrenamiento lento.

Recuerda, el entrenamiento de alta intensidad es difícil, y no es aconsejable para novatos. El Club de Rugby del Estrecho Sub 14 gana la Copa Club Rugby del Estrecho Sub de Oro en el Torneo Internacional del Sur 14’s win Gold Cup in Torneo Internacional del Sur

Fue un día histórico para los jugadores sub 14 del Club de Rugby del Estrecho en Sevilla, cuando se alzaron con la Copa de Oro en este prestigioso torneo de dos días celebrado el último fin de semana de octubre.

Veinte equipos de España y Portugal participaron y los jóvenes del Estrecho ganaron la competición.

Superaron las etapas de grupo el sábado y ganaron su semi-final el domingo contra un muy buen equipo de Ciencias de Sevilla, con un resultado de 31-0.

En la final vencieron al Portuense de Cádiz, contra quienes perdieron hace un año en la liga.

Sin embargo, el Estrecho ha reclutado a varios nuevos jugadores muy fuertes y están muy bien entrenados por el ex jugador de Inglaterra U18 y U19 Adrian Parsons y por Carlos Rolin.

En la primera mitad el juego fue de extremo a extremo con Spike Parsons marcando el primer intento para Estrecho que fue convertido por Manu; el Portuense luchó con ganas y los tantos estuvieron empatados en 7 a 7 en la primera mitad.

En un tenso inicio de la segunda parte, el estrecho hizo muchos metros con sus fuertes carreras y pases, y esto permitió pases rápidos para llevar la pelota a

su corredor más fuerte, Mateo Isola, que provocó dos intentos convertidos por Manu.

Aunque el Portuense marcó otro intento, la defensa del Estrecho se mantuvo firme para conseguir una victoria histórica 21-14 para alzarse con la Copa de Oro. “Nuestro joven equipo tiene un extraordinario potencial”, dice su orgulloso entrenador Adrian Parsons. “Puede que no sean el equipo más grande en comparación con otros, pero están motivados, disciplinados y juegan maravillosamente. Carlos y yo estamos encantados de entrenar a este grupo de jugadores, y nuestro objetivo es ganar la liga y el Campeonato Español al final de la temporada”.

It was a historic day for the Under 14 players from Club Rugby del Estrecho in Sevilla as they lifted the Gold Cup in this prestigious 2 day tournament held on the last weekend of October.

20 teams from all over Spain and Portugal were involved and the youngsters from Estrecho came out on top.

They came through the group stages on Saturday and won their Semi Final on Sunday against a very good tackling Ciencias team from Sevilla 31 - 0 In the Final they took on Portuense from Cadiz, a side that Estrecho had lost heavily to a year ago in the league.

However Estrecho have recruited some strong new players and are extremely well coached by ex England U18 & U19 player Adrian Parsons and Carlos Rolin.

In the first half the play went from end to end with Spike Parsons scoring the first try for Estrecho that was converted by Manu, Portuense fought back and the scores were level at 7 to 7 at half time.

In a tense start to the second half

Estrecho’s forwards made a lot of metres with their strong runs and passing, this allowed the fast backs to get the ball to their strongest runner Mateo Isola who powered over for 2 tries converted

by Manu.

Even though Portuense scored another try the Estrecho defence stood strong for an historic win by 21-14 to lift the Gold Cup. “Our young team have the makings of a very good side said their proud coach Adrian Parsons” “They may not be the biggest team compared to other sides but they are very well drilled, disciplined and play brilliantly for each other.

éxitos logrados en el Campeonato de Andalucía

El Ayuntamiento de Manilva a través del área de Juventud y Deportes, que dirige Agustín Vargas, quiso felicitar a la Escuela Municipal de Escalada tras los éxitos logrados en el Campeonato de Andalucía, celebrado el pasado fin de semana en Chiclana.

El edil se personó en el entrenamiento de este jueves en

el Rocódromo Rogelio Pascual y al mismo asistieron Rodrigo Ruiz y Javier Román, que fueron tercero y quinto en la categoría benjamín, Mar Carreño, que fue quinta en alevín, además de los tres campeones andaluces; Juan Infante (benjamín), Aarón Sabio (cadete) y Rogelio Pascual (absoluta).

Agustín Vargas felicitó a los

alumnos y les deseó suerte de cara a las próximas citas.

Precisamente los días 2 y 3 de diciembre en Sevilla se disputa la tercera y definitiva prueba de la Copa de Andalucía, modalidad bloque, donde nuestros tres campeones parten como líderes y por lo tanto, con muchas opciones de conseguir un nuevo título.

Primer Campus del Málaga Club de Fútbol en Manilva Gracias al acuerdo alcanzado entre la Delegación de Juventud y Deportes y el Málaga CF, a través de la Peña Malaguista de Manilva, los jóvenes de la localidad podrán disfrutar del Primer Campus del Málaga CF en Manilva.

Esta buena noticia se cerraba de manera positiva en la jornada del martes, tras la reunión mantenida entre Agustín Vargas, como concejal de Deportes, Antonio Márquez, en representación de la Peña Malaguista de Manilva, además del Director de los Campus del Málaga y el coordinador de la Escuela y Campus del Club, Óscar Miras y Sergio Valencia, respectivamente.

El Campamento se desarrollará en las instalaciones deportivas de nuestro municipio durante la próxima semana blanca.

Está dirigido a los jóvenes y tendrá un precio de 80 euros para los empadronados en Manilva y 100 euros para los no empadronados.

El edil de Deportes se mostró satisfecho de poder traer a Manilva esta iniciativa de la que se podrán beneficiar tanto los vecinos, como los habitantes de la comarca e informó que las inscripciones se abrirán próximamente.

El campus tendrá una duración de cinco días y los inscritos podrán disfrutar de una jornada de entrenamientos en los campos de la Federación malagueña de fútbol, con transporte incluido, además de la realización del tour de la Rosaleda entre otras muchas sorpresas, como visita de jugadores y exjugadores del Club.
