Building Evaluation


The Work is aimed at reproducing a 2D and 3D model of an existing historical building. We chose the Gymnasium of the Botanical garden of Palermo and evaluated it by using diastimeters, meters, staids and trilateration method. For the dome we had to use original drawing as a reference for proportions and measures. ECTS:9 Result: 30/30

The Project is the requalification of an area in Palermo, near the Notarbartolo’s station. Starting from the analysis of the area, defining the building consistence, historical landmarks, green areas and the services that take place there, we worked on weakness points developing the mobility system and creating green areas. ECTS:10 Result: 30/30

We examined in depth the area of the Notarbartolo Station and figured out how will it be after the current works for the new tram line. This station will be a crucial point because of the mobility interchange and our project’s focus is to figure out a new building, connected with the previous one by a translucent, light, glazed bridge. This building will host retails and a cafeteria.

Technical Architecture II

The Project is the demolition and reconstruction of an existing building considering all legal constraints. The task is to define architecture and technological aspects of a building with an auditorium, services, classrooms, cafeteria, internet point and creative spaces. ECTS:12 Result: 30/30 cum laude

Technical details were developed and coloured with the software Corel Draw 7. 3D models are made with Rhinoceros and Autocad.

The Project

Vista assonometrica del progetto (Sud-Est)

is the retrofit of an existing abandoned building in the “Sperone� district, in Palermo. This building used to be a squat, and it is now in bad conditions. Our task is to transform it into a center for education of children from 7 to 14 years old. Therefore, we provide it with a cafeteria, internet points, classrooms and creative labs. How it works This building is designed in order to take the maximum advantage from the weather conditions in the South of Italy. According to its position, a solar greenhouse has been designed in the south-side. During the winter heat is accumulated and extracted. After treatments it is then let into the radiant panels to warm classrooms. During the summer mamually-controlled windows ensure cross ventilation and openings on the top of the solar chimney generate a flow of fresh air.

Master’s Thesis


The Project is a self-powered bus shelter composed of two translucent panels made of glassclocks integrated with DSC (Dye Sensitized Solar Cells). The structure is made of HEA 140 and includes a space for advertisement, a dynamic screen made of rampicant plants, two smart benches with sensors, Wi-Fi point and an information display. It was also realized a PLA model through 3D printing.

The product DSSC glassblocks are intellectual property of the startup SBskin, which has developed a new product with a low transmittance level and able to produce clean energy from the sun.

F.E.M. Analysis F.E.M. analysis was conducted by using the software Straus 7. Then results were verified through the software FATA.
