On-site Facilities and Services Available General Information Tournaments are considered to consist of 16 players or more and starting times are always necessary. Tee times for tournaments may be made well in advance to guarantee availability. Tournaments are responsible for any unused blocked tee times not cancelled 10 days prior to the scheduled time. Equipment Rental El Camino Country Club rental sets are $25 per set. Golf club rentals are available for men and women provided that tournament requests are received by the course within 10 days of the tournament date. Golf Carts Carts can be rented for $15 each. Practice Facilities El Camino Country Club Offers an on-site practice facility (practice range, putting green, and a chipping green) which are included in the tournament package for tournament use 2 hours prior to the start of the event. Food & Beverage All tournaments require some planned food and beverage. This requirement has been an important part of a successful event for most groups. Please consider your group needs in advance and discuss any questions or requirements well in advance of the event date. El Camino Country Club has a variety of enticing cuisine for all budgets and occasions. The Main Dining Room, Garden Room, and Patio are available for your awards banquet and include many amenities to complete your event. All food and beverage consumed on site must be purchased from us unless otherwise authorized by management. We do not permit the service of alcoholic beverages to anyone who is under the age of 21, or who we determine is intoxicated. Only our employees may prepare and serve food and beverages, including alcohol. El Camino Country Club will provide one or more beverage carts for $75 each. The $75 fee will be waived with a minimum of $250 in cart sales.

Tournament Starting Options Single Tee This option is ideal for small groups (16-40 players). Each foursome will tee off at the first (1st) tee in sequential order. After the first foursome (Group #1) tees off and has completed the second shot, the second foursome (Group #2) tees off next and the third foursome (Group #3) is considered “on deck.” The tee times continue until all groups are in play. Modified Shotgun Best option for groups with 72 to 120 players. The entire tournament will start at the same time. Two foursomes (Groups #1 & #2) will start on each assigned hole. EXAMPLE: a tournament of 80 players would make 20 teams of 4 players. Two teams would start on each hole, 1-10. The course may attempt to fill the remaining holes 11-18 with another group and/or additional players. To allow the required tees for a modified shotgun, the course normally must “shutdown” for an extended period to allow for the “starting” holes. Full-Field Shotgun This option is designed for groups with 120-144 players and requires the full course. Two groups start on most holes. All players will start and finish at approximately the same time.

Tournament Formats Scramble (Recommended) This format is probably the most enjoyable type of tournament because only the good shots are played and the pace of play can be very fast. All players hit a tee shot and the best tee shot is selected. All players take their next shot from that point. The process is repeated until the ball is “holed out” and the team records a score. The winning team is the one that records the lowest 18-hole score. This format promotes easier and faster scoring. Net scoring options are available with this format (see the El Camino staff for more details). Best Ball Twosome 2 people play as a team, taking handicaps as they fall on the card. The lowest score on the hole with a handicap counts towards the team’s best ball score for the round. Only the lowest score on the hole is counted. The team with the lowest 18-hole score wins. Best Ball This format may be played as 2, 3, or 4-person teams. Golfers play their own balls on each hole and the lowest score is recorded as the team score. This format may be played with or without a handicap, and is a fun format with a medium pace of play. Results can be calculated quickly. Shamble This format is also one the more enjoyable types of tournaments because, like a scramble, you use good shots only for a portion of the hole, but you also get the opportunity to play your own ball. Each person hits a drive and the team selects the best one. From that point forward, each player plays his own ball through the hole and the team records a score. The winning team is the one that records the lowest 18hole score.

Special Events and Contests Closest to the Pin A prize is awarded for the shot that comes to rest closest to the pin; normally played on the par 3’s. Closest to the Pin on 2nd Shot A prize is awarded for the shot that comes to rest closest to the pin; can be played on any hole on the golf course except the par 3’s. Longest Drive in Fairway A prize is awarded for the longest drive off the tee box that lands in the fairway; normally played on #10. Longest Putt A prize is awarded to the longest putt on a specific green. We recommend that this contest is played on the course’s putting green at the clubhouse prior to the start of the tournament to promote a fun and competitive atmosphere, yet while providing a reasonably rapid pace of play. Straightest Drive A white line is placed down the middle of the fairway. The drive off the tee box that comes to rest closest to the line is the winner; this is normally played on the course’s last par 5, but not necessarily the same par 5 used for the longest and shortest drive contests

Tournament Planning Planner “To Do’s” •

Have your groups arrive “on time,” no later than 30 minutes before the starting time and/or first meal function.

Alert the course on how the group will be arriving: motor coach, limo, vans, or individual.

Have complete and legible NAMES on each golf bag.

Provide players with pre-tournament agenda listing starting times, locker room usage, catered functions and golf, including which expenses are the responsibilities of each golfer.

Provide the player’s list to the course no later than 72 hours prior to the event.

Notify and deliver to the course no later than 72 hours prior to the event: all sponsor signs, welcome banners, tee markers or contest prizes. When shipping to course, address all shipping labels to the “attention of”: (tournament director) and note “hold for (tournament and date)” to ensure proper delivery and holding.

If using a master bill (or full payment at the completion of the event), provide and make known to the host club the list of person(s) authorized to charge to the group’s account.

If length of playing time is a concern due to daylight hours (seasonal); planned functions before/after the tournament back at the hotel; and/or difficulty of course, review these hints to maximize the playing time: 1.

Select the proper tournament format for the level of players.

2. Limit the number of contest holes; too often there are too many and each takes twice the average length of time to play given the prizes offered. 3. Start on time. 4. Promote “ready golf” - remind players to: •

Have (or purchase) golf balls, tees, tee markers, divot repair tools.

Carry an extra ball in their pocket at all times.

Carry a putter with other clubs when within chipping distance of the green.

Be ready to putt when it’s your turn.

ONLY ONE practice swing for each shot.

Keep track of your score throughout the hole/game.

Add and record scores away from the putting green and en route to the next hole.

Check to ensure all clubs used for chipping and bunker shots are picked up after putting.

Purchase food and beverage items only when it is clearly not your turn to play
