Early 18th century Oak Side Chair – circa 1710. Baluster turning to the uprights and front stretcher. Ball finials. Inset seat with moulded edge. The back is comprised of five slats – the outer two with a moulded edge. The top rail of foliate carving containing an inverted heart motif. Good colour and patination.

Set of Four Carolean Walnut Side Chairs with cane seats and backs. Circa 1675-1690. The top and front rails of the chairs are of the ‘boyes and crowne’ style of carving found in this type of chair. The chair has stretchers and uprights of barley twist turnings, carved flower heads and scrolling foliage. Elegant vase finals to the uprights. Excellent colour and patination. See ‘Early British Chairs and Seats’ by Tobias Jellinek – Page 159 Plate 187 for a similar example.
