ARCHITECTURE DESIGN

PORTFOLIO

DESIGN INTENT Growing up and traveling to different parts of the world constantly, as well as coming from a diverse background, architecture continuously amazes and inspires me. The subliminal impact that architecture can have on others on the complete human experience is what captivates me. Desigining a space that reflects the needs and desires of an individual from an enviornmental context to a conceptual context is essential for human comfort as well as desigining to meet the needs of the user. Being a self-motivated and determined student, I believe architecture is a passion and the thought of this never fails to make me want to further motivate myself to design better by having a desire to learn something new everyday in order to create successful architecture.

The spectorium is an inventive creation for Chas as it possesses the underlying objects of the cabinet of curiousities that Chas anticipates in conjunction with the emerging tesseract caused by metamorphosis to emphasize Chas as a client.

EXPLICATUS

The form of the tesseract serves as a functional and aesthetical purpose in emphasizing the metamorphosis aspect. Although a tesseract is primarily a cube inside a cube, it also unfolds. With that idea, the spectorium also unfolds and becomes elevated for the safety of Chas, Ari, and Uzi. This design challenges Chas in the sense that the mobility of the structure represents adventure that which Ari and Uzi acquire upon visiting the spectorium just as they do when they spend time with Royal.

Inspiration

The tesseract is the four-dimensional analog of the cube; the tesseract is to the cube as the cube is to the square. Inspired by the unwrapping of the tesseract, the design and structure transform through the process of unfolding, which additionally represents the gradual change of Chas.

P A L E T A DO A R T I S T A The modernist approach is still the overriding architectural style of Brazil. This style is characterised by minimalism and the absence of excess frill or decoration. It is simple, with clean lines and a functional form. My intent in designing this artist’s residence and studio was to create a house that shows purity, is visually pleasing, and functionaly appropriate for the clients who are two painters.

SCAD RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS CENTER The Concept of this Rhythmic Gymnastics center is private vs. public space. Inspired by the shifting movements of gymnastics, the form of my building shifts throughout the site in such a way as does a gymnast, primarily in a straight line, but with different angles. The gestural sketch aided me in positioning certain parts of the design so it could help relate and communicate the idea of old vs. new. The human body movement sketches were very influential when creating the form of my building. Without the help of that, I wouldn’t have known the building would have a skeleton structure. It comes to show that geometry can relate to any existing forms. A performance center should be welcoming to all kinds of people and should enhance the performance experience.

GAZE A sculptor in disguise, miss hearing aid possesses her own cannabis warehouse in which she smuggles marijuana inside her sculptures. Behind the sliding cabinet is the entrance to the warehouse in which she disappears to when she is not sculpting outside. She manages to hide the stash of money in the toilet tank of the bathroom after she counts it. Her husband is unaware of miss hearing aid’s illicit business; however, miss hearing aid’s husband buys these drugs from her dealer unaware of the fact that his own wife is the real supplier... As it is, miss hearing aid barely comes outside of her studio apartment in the film Rear Window, which indicates suspicious behavior and justifies her illegal activities behind closed doors. CONVENTION CENTER The convention center is designed to hold conventions where individuals gather to celebrate or to attend events. Additionally, it consists of two overhead spaces that can be used as meeting rooms, conference rooms, or office spaces. The spaces that are located in the back area of the convention center are designed for private and isolated events. The two outside spaces serve as informal gathering spaces to socialize and wander. The repetitive triangular pieces that primarily make up the structure of the wall create a different experience interiorly and exteriorly. The primary elements of the model consist of the thick vertical and diagonal columns that emphasize the importance of the connection of the overhead space in my model in regards to the parti. The secondary elements of the model include the horizontal and diagonals between the primary columns that emphasize repetition through the reoccurrence of triangles that vary in size. The tertiary elements of the model consist of the thin rods located overhead defining the hierarchy of the model. The proportion of my gathering space and outdoor space connects the overall model as a whole in terms of harmony and balance. It is approachable because people yearn to have an event at a place that possesses a different vibe or experience rather than the usual ordinary convention center.

HAND DRAFTING This project encompasses learning about Villa Savoye. We constructed a 3D model of the structure of Villa Savoye and from an already build sketchup model, we obtained accurate measurements of the building. We hand drafted plans, elevations, and an isometric drawing with additional diagrams to properly explain the Villa Savoye.
