ERIN RILEY
hi friend!
i’m erin
I am an intentional, passionate, and detail-oriented graduate student that believes in the strength of personal relationships. I believe in the importance of practicality & beauty in furniture, textile, decor, and soft good selections, communicating that interior design reaches beyond the technical skills of the designer. The design of the built environment must reflect its users’ needs, personalities, and desires.
As an emerging designer, I believe in upholding these core convictions in my career:
Designers must be resilient in all circumstances.
Designers must prioritize the human experience through intentional & purposeful design choices.
Designers must explore individual passions to inspire their work.
Designers must be selfless to teach, encourage, uplift, and care for their coworkers & clients.
Welcome to my collection of work! So glad you’re here!

Generation Z is reportedly the lonelist generation to date. It includes individuals born between 1997 and 2012, a generation of people that know no life without the internet. While technology has immensely improved our culture, it is simultaneously driving people apart. Face to face interactions are now limited, family and friends are drifting further apart, and there is little to no meaningful community being built, especially within church environments.
Communion Church will be strategically placed to engage multiple communities, the Midtown neighborhood, tourists, and guests. The view Park and close proximity to three major university campuses provides Church with the opportunities to engage with community members nationwide scale.

In Christian culture, communion is symbolized through the eating of bread and the drinking of wine , representing the body and the blood of Jesus Christ. Through the action of taking communion, Christians reflect upon the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross , and it is because of this sacrifice that humanity is able to be in communion with God . This closeness is God’s original and perfect design for humanity; communion began in the Garden of Eden with the creation of Adam and Eve where there was no separation between God and Man.

The lobby immerses the user in a fantastical forest with trees and flowers greeting them upon entry. The presence of biophilia throughout The Well is essential to forming a restorative environment in those seeking respite.
Earth tones are continued through the textile and flooring selections, communicating warmth, connection to nature, and connection to others.

The 28th Annual Wildlife Arts Festival
‘Takes Root’ in Thomasville
“Take Root” was inspired by the curvature of white oak leaves once they fall to the earth; their curvature traps air pockets making it an optimal ground cover for controlled burns in the North Florida/South Georgia landscape.
The piece is dedicated to Samuel Kellett and Leigh Perkins. Kellett held a deep passion for South Georgia’s piney woods and cultivated Riverbend Plantation in Quitman alongside his wife, Janet McLeod Kellett. Perkins transformed The Orvis Company from a humble mail-order fishing store into a prominent American sporting brand.

4JOINERY TABLE
This mid-century inspired coffee table blends simplistic joinery with personal, and effective use. Without the use of nails or glue, the 3-piece table is held together through a single lap joint. Notches in the legs allow the top piece to snap into place, creating a stable durface. A 1/8” pocket cut allows for a glass circle to rest flush with the wood surface.
The fabrication process began with 2D line drawings in AutoCAD. This file was then sent to the CNC Router where 3/4” Baltic Birch was cut. The pieces were then hand-sanded, stained, and assembled to create a beautiful piece that brings together friends and begins conversation.
