Indian paintings holds a very significant part in the history of Indian art and most of the ancient paintings were based on religious themes depicting different Gods and Goddesses of Hindu religions. It is evident from the literary sources and the remains discovered that painting had been flourished as an art form in India from very early periods. Almost from the beginning of painting as an art form in India it always portrayed a strong sense of design and imagination in characteristics.
