MORE THAN 1,800 PROMOTIONAL INITIATIVES PLANNED FOR 2010

The Counter-Offensive of the Chamber Network to Support the Recovery An agenda full of events and an even stronger collaboration to carry out projects that will interconnect several markets: this is how CCIEs have been supporting Italian businesses after the difficulties of the last months

fter several difficult months due to the international economic crisis, 2010 will become the year of the relaunch of Made in Italy. According to the latest Istat data on foreign commerce, there is an increase of Italian exports within the European Union, a market that suffered a strong setback last year. Since the beginning of 2010, sales of Italian products have started to grow again with a rate of 11% on a projected yearly basis. MORE INVESTMENTS AND INITIATIVES. In order to help businesses consolidate these results, it is necessary that the chamber system supports them in finding out the new trends of the global demand and defining their strategy in international markets. The promotional program for 2010 shows that CCIEs are facing the challenge actively and effectively. More than 1,800 promotional initiatives, which will raise the total expected turnover to 58 million Euros (+12% compared to 2009), demonstrate that the Chamber are investing

more and more in the development of projects for the repositioning and upgrading of Italian enterprises abroad. 56% of the resources will be invested in order to promote the meeting of demand and offer of services and products among Italian and foreign companies which will be contacted by CCIEs. This is the core business of any promotional activity for 2010 too. FOOD AND AGRICULTURE AND TOURISM IN POLE POSITION. The distribution of the initiatives in several sectors confirms the ability of the Chambers to address the companies towards the most promising market segments, betting on high-tech to balance the difficulties that traditional Made in Italy is presently facing in foreign markets, with the exception of agriculture and food. This sector still represents 41% of all projects; it is followed by another “classic” field, i.e. tourism (8.3%), which is growing with respect to 2009. These initiatives are flanked by projects related to sectors in which human resources and know-how play a more important role: mechatronics (3.5%), building (3%) and especially logistics, with 10.5% it will be the third most important sector for 2010. In the second position we find services, with 19% of the overall resources: these activities are mostly related to energy and environmental sustainability, real estate, banking and insurance, education. COLLABORATION AMONG CCIEs TO PROMOTE THE ENTERPRISES. Innovation is the keyword for the promotion and its concrete expression. Multi-market projects, which include the development of initiatives in highly qualified fields by CCIEs in different geographic areas, have increased with respect to last year: in 2010 we will have eight projects of this kind, which will involve 48 Chambers and promote partnerships between Italy and the rest of the world in fields such as aerospace, renewable energy and sustainable development, according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Economic Development. These figures demonstrate the intention of the Chamber to challenge the crisis through an effective counter-offensive. We are a dynamic network that is able to understand in advance the needs of SMEs thanks to our knowledge of foreign markets and our presence abroad. In the program for this year we have largely increased investments because, since we are market operators too, we act like a business, we have a long-term perspective and know that in difficult periods we have to invest and innovate. This is the competitive advantage of Italian Chambers abroad: we are entrepreneurs at the service of Italian business and institutions in the world.
